I just saw Sunday driving down Ford Rd. the closed store. Wow. The last original tenant of that strip mall. Great pizza. Did they move or just close for good?

LONA’S PIZZZAISNOMORE! This business has been closed since New Year’s Eve 12÷31÷14. We used to go to this place at least once a week! I would give them 5 stars in a heartbeat, their pizzas were unbeatable! I changed my mind now! He gave the employees no notice, they found out after working the entire day. What a way for the poor people to find out they have no job to go to in the New Year, 2015! BIGFAIL! I wish I could give Lona’s Pizza –10’s!!!

Such a great place for pizza. The food is great and the service is even better. It’s a family owned business so they really appreciate the community and their customers. I would recommend if you’re looking for a decent pizza spot in the neighborhood. Also, they recent got a debit/credit machine so you don’t have to use cash(used to be cash only).

So I was on my way home one night and randomly decided to pull into this place. It was during the winter in early 2014 so you know it was cold as hell and constantly snowing. I walk in and was greeted by this young, heavy set guy, friendly and helpful as hell. He helped me pick out what I wanted and as I was waiting I said«Im gonna charge my phone in my car, I’ll be back in after a few minutes.» This guy didn’t wait, he walked my order out to my car in the cold ass snow wearing an apron and a t-shirt. Polite as hell, and they go the extra mile. I got a steak sub. Liked it a lot but it needs a little bit more. Like there is a sauce out there that would make it perfect, otherwise 5 stars easily.

Best pizza in Dearborn heights(IMHO). The cheese bread might be the best I have ever had. Not a chain, fair prices, & they finally accept debit/credit… & they gone.

I have been going to Loanas Pizza for 16 years. They have the best pizza in town. Both round and square are delicious. Excellent sauce, toppings, and service.

This is a tough one. I really like Lona’s. It is above average pizza — probably 3.5 stars. This is our go to place for take-out pizza and I am never disappointed. So obviously it’s good. It’s just tough because I know there are better pizzas out there. In addition to the pizza, we also really like the Lona’s Bread and Cheesie Bread. I recommend this restaurant.

There are so many things that I love about this place; their sauce is probably the best around and their ingredients taste very good. The problem is the amount of ingredients they put on the pizza(especially the sauce) is very sparse. The last couple times I ordered from there I asked for extra sauce, but didn’t get it(one time I got extra cheese). 10 years ago I would’ve given this place five stars but the quality has gone down unfortunately.

I could live off the pepperoni pizza pocket. It’s just amazing. I feel in love with it about 15 years ago and it has out lasted every other relationship I’ve had. I only come when I’m in town visiting parents, but needless to say, even if my parents have dinner for me, I still stop by Lona’s for a pocket.

We were looking for a local pizza place after our move, and found this place when a flyer came. We are now regular customers; it fills us up well on poker nights, and one of the I think biggest compliments one can give is to say that there have never been any leftovers. Any other pizza joint I’ve frequented cannot say the same.

Bought a coupon and tried Lona’s for the first time. Was going to a function and decided to order wings and pizza! I called it in and went to go pick it up. Over the telephone the young lady told me one price, but when I presented the coupon she said that she had given me a different coupon price and I would have to pay full price with the certificate. No problem I said. She had a hard time figuring out how much $ 15 off was, so she called the owner, at least I guess it was the owner. Finally after playing with the cash register he just wrote on the pizza box the math figure! Come on now let’s get back to basic mathematics 101! Oh well. Got to the function and my food was the hit of the day! Everyone was just raving on and on about it. So, I think I will try Lona’s again and have it at my house because where the function was was a little over an hour away. Parking is a little hit and miss. It is in a strip mall and the other stores do take up the parking spaces, especially the arabic super market — Greenland, I think it was called. So, if you can park in a corner so your car will be safe!!! Definitely I will be back Lonas!!!

Once again Unilocalers, I am disappointed. I see all of these wonderful reviews so I decide to give this local pizzeria a chance. I was so excited because I am totally up for new restaurants and the reviews only had awesome things to say. I begged my fiancé to try Lona’s, ugh, but once again, it was a huge disappointment. This was one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had. It’s possible that maybe this used to be great or maybe they just had a TERRIBLE night, but tonight’s experience has given me no reason to try this place again. The pizza sauce was overly sweet and paste-y, there was very little cheese, and what was there was cheap and rubbery. The pepperoni was not bad, but it wasn’t anything to talk about. The dough was tough and overly chewy and the cheesy bread was incredibly yeasty. Maybe this is my pickiness talking again, but I have definitely had better. which is probably every other pizza I’ve eaten. To top it off, the customer service was terrible. The young man on the phone was short and unpleasant. When I went in to pick it up, I believe I spoke to the same man. Obviously my inexperience showed when I asked several questions about promotions, online menus, and it’s location. He was very snappy and short with me on the phone. Fine whatever, maybe they were busy. I walked in and handed my credit card to the man behind the register. He quickly snapped again and told me that they only accept cash and go to the ATM behind me. And it’s not what he said, it’s the way he said it. If it were me, I would have apologized and said that if I wanted to use the card and did not have cash, that there was a convenient ATM located behind you… with a smile. As I was completing the transaction at the ATM, another customer walked in to pick up their order. She was one of those kind looking older ladies that makes you think of your Grandma. Anyways, she got her pizza, paid, and was taking a little time to put her change back. I am a very patient person when it’s deserved and I know I showed no signs of being bothered. Well, once again the man behind the register was rude. He started talking to me, who was located BEHIND this woman, as if she wasn’t still standing there. He told me my total and that poor sweet lady looked so embarrassed she actually apologized to me. Obviously I told her that I was in no rush and that she could take her time. She thanked me, smiled again, and wished me a nice night all the while the rude man just humphed. Sorry to the owner of Lona, but customer service like this will not be tolerated and I will never be back.

On any given trash day drive down any residential street in Dearborn Heights/Dearborn and you’ll see almost every other house has a few empty lona’s boxes out in the trash, for good reason. This is the best pizza in the area. Both round and deep dish square are absolutely delicious. Great prices, they usually have a two large with two toppings special for around $ 10. I’ve collected and redeemed many red dots

When I was but a wee lass we used to get Lona’s at home all the time. Somewhere along the line though we just kind of dropped off from ordering from here. WHYWEREWESOSTUPID? Honestly! Dumb. This pizza is the bomb. Delicious crust, great toppings, and so much cheese! It’s enough to make a lactose intolerant person break out in a cold sweat just looking at it. But for me? Gooey tastiness in a cardboard box! Not sure I’ll be ordering from anywhere else in the neighborhood now that I’ve returned. The joint is take out/delivery only. It’s been in the same spot for decades and it shows. It’s not impressive by any stretch but it smells delicious! The prices are pretty cheap(I got a medium pizza – plenty for 2 meals – and a Greek salad for just over $ 10) and the service is not bad. I didn’t require a ton of interaction with the staff but it was just fine. They also serve up some sandwiches and a few other tasty treats. There’s nowhere to really wait if you’re a walk in so if you stop by on a whim be prepared to either hang out in your car or stand around in the shop reading some of the news clippings on the wall. The nice thing is it’s pretty quick so you won’t be waiting around terribly long. Or you could just call ahead and save yourself a wait which is what I plan to do from now on! TIP: Cash only!

We’ve been getting deliveries from Lona’s since we moved to this area 4 years ago and I have yet to be disappointed. Delivery is a little slow on busier days but what they lack in delivery, they make up for in quality and taste. The pizza’s are always delicious as are the subs and other items on the menu. If you haven’t had it yet, order the Lona bread which is to die for. My only gripe is they don’t sell two liters, you can get pop a liter at a time in a paper or Styrofoam cup. Otherwise, this place is tits!

I am so sad that I didn’t find this place sooner. After living in Dearborn for almost 4 years, I was on a mission to find a pizza place worthy of 5 stars(non-chain). This place hit the nail on the head with their pizza. It was amazing. Nothing fancy but delightful in every way. Fresh ingredients, creamy cheese, crispy crust(check, check, and check). However, you’ll notice I only gave them 4 stars and there is a reason for this. The service wasn’t the best. We had never ordered from there before so we had no idea that’s it’s cash only. They did not mention this while placing the order. It was a pain to go get the pizza then have to run to an ATM, then back to the pizza place(you get the jist). Also, the counter guy seemed irritated that we were there picking up our order. Granted, it was close to closing time. And yes, I have been in situations when I was younger where I wanted to kill the late dwelling customer but still, it was our first time so the service was important to us(ya know, first impressions). Regardless of the slight attitude and transaction problems, the pizza was still the main focus. So… back to the pizza; the pizza pies get the whole whopping 5 stars. So perfectly perfect. I am pretty sure the sauce has crack in it because I just couldn’t get enough. Oh, and something else that is great about their pizza, it’s even good re-heated. Nice! We will go back and we will be prepared with CASH!!! P. S. The prices are beyond reasonable. This place is cheap. Woot! Good, cheap food-=A diamond in the rough!!!

Lona’s is one of those cool, homestyle pizza joints you have to visit every time you are back in the old neighborhood. I grew up on this place’s peperoni pizzas, cheesy commercials and Italian subs. I loved going to Lona’s because you can watch them spin the pizza, and then you can collect the«dot» that comes with a large or medium pie. Ten dots get you a free pizza, although, I’d always lose them so I don’t think I ever cashed in. Funny thing about Lona’s, the pop here always seemed to taste better here than anywhere else. They served it in cardboard cartons filled with ice. It was really awesome and I really don’t know why. The pizza is a bit greasy, but that’s what makes it good. The lunch specials are a great deal. I think Lona’s is the only place that has stood the test of time in the janky stip mall it is located in. Everything else always goes out of business. I guess that’s a testament to how awesome it is.

Another childhood staple — almost every Friday night as a kid with my mom and aunt while watching Dallas and Falcon Crest we would order Lona’s Pizza, or back then we also had the option of a bucket(and I mean a bucket) of spaghetti. Absoltuely my favorite pizza ever. I can barely make it home when I go to pick it up! Order extra sauce — it makes it even better. I miss the Farmer Jack and Tri-Daly of my youth, but at least Lona’s is still there. It is carry-out or delivery only but they do have Coke products in the salad/dessert cooler for purchase.

If you have never had a pizza from Lona’s then you are missing out on the real deal. I remember when Lona’s opened it’s door for the 1st time, it was like a portal to Italy came to our little city, really a township at that time. You had to pick up the pizza yourself and if came in a paper bag to keep the heat and it was still piping hot when you got back home. When you opened the bag the 1st rush of steam hit you full of the smells of Italy. I try to stop by when ever I’m in town. Don’t eat at chain’s when you can get the real deal and keep place’s like Lona’s a live and well for years to come. Remember to eat well and live well and please no chains!
