Considering that Daytona Beach is more of a regional than an international airport with all of six gates, that they have any TSA«known traveler» offerings is pleasant. Yes, there’s just the one line that splits as you put your crap onto the belt but if your boarding pass makes three beeps the TSO will give you a blue card and that lets you keep your shoes on and you only have to go through the magnetometer and not the irradiation machine. So for that, it’s A-OK.

If you fly through a few different airports you already know that security can vary and I believe this is by design, it doesn’t necessarily mean one airport is safer than another it’s more about the number of passengers that need to be processed and the amount of time required. The low volume of passengers passing through Daytona Beach International Airport doesn’t justify having a separate TSA Pre-check lane but the TSA agents assigned to this airport are some of the friendliest and most efficient I’ve seen. If you’re fortunate enough to have prescreening approval on your boarding pass they hand you a plastic pass as your enter the line and once you get to the baggage screening they pull you out of line and divert you around the full body scanner so you do save some time and can keep your shoes, jacket and belt on. This is another positive reason to fly out of here.
