Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced — borderline scary! I had my corporate unit here for about a year. The climate controlled facililty is not great — desolate and unsecure location, narrow hallways, and there is no lighting in the units. But, I accepted those shortcomings and things were fine until I needed help. When my company was bought out I needed to update the rental agreement, and that’s when things got ridiculous. The manager, Scott, argued with me on the phone telling me what I was asking for was not possible. All I needed was to have my company’s name and my name on the agreement — which was how my original agreement was written. He told me they couldn’t and didn’t put two names on unit agreements. Not only was he argumentative and disrespectful on the phone, he talks at a glacial pace and has no problem with wasting your time by repeating himself over and over regardless of the actual topic of the conversation. In addition, he was wrong because I had my original agreement in my hand which clearly showed my name and my former company’s name. When I went in person and showed him the original rental agreement, he literally threw it back at me over the counter and told me that it was an error. This was the point where he should have apologized for arguing with me and provided solutions to me as his customer. I asked him to show the original agreement to his boss/owner — which I found out later he never did. When I called to follow up he kept me on the phone again for a long time — this conversation ended with him telling me to draft a letter authorizing access to company representatives which he would put on file. When I went up to the office with the letter he was not there. At first I was relieved to not have to deal with him, but then I found out he had left a note for the person who was there that the letter of authorization had to be on company letterhead. We had discussed this on the phone previously, and I had told him I didn’t have letterhead. In that conversation he told me just write a letter and sign it. Basically, he was just playing with me and wasting my time since it became clear he never had any intention of accepting the letter he had told me to write. It was also at this point that I noticed the deliveries to my unit were being carelessly thrown into the unit. Up until I had a disagreement with Scott, my deliveries had always been stacked neatly in my unit. This time, not only had deliveries been tossed into the unit, it had been done in such a way as to cause other items in the unit to tip over. Things were all over the place. I felt unnerved by this discovery — if he was willing to argue and lie to a customer, and then throw deliveries around and mess up the unit, what else is he capable of? He obviously either has not been trained well or has some sort of emotional/psychological issues that interfere with his work. Either way, I decided I was done with him and his facility. The inconvenience of having to move my unit trumped staying and dealing with an emotionally unstable employee. I went to Centerville Self Storage on Compark Road and they were more than happy to write up a rental agreement with both names on it — no problem. Also, their units are lighted, in a secure and public location, and the hallways are wider and easier to maneuver. In addition, they were super friendly and welcoming. I strongly recommend staying away from Storage Inns on Bigger Road, and especially avoiding Scott Cline. I would recommend the owner of that facility get rid of him asap — he is literally driving away business. I am the type of customer a storage unit place should want to have because I have a corporate credit card and was set up for automatic payments.
