I wished there was 0 stars to rate. I came here for a samosa chat. It was a disaster! Trust me, if you’re a food lover… Avoid this place.

I went to Aroma and Spice again with 4 dance choreographers. They all loved the food and will order catered food for their school. My advice to everyone is to try the food for oneself and not base the quality of food at the restaurant on any reviews here. Thaddeus has a general grudge against Indian restaurants as is evident from his review. The restaurant should not be blamed for the the customer’s lack of comprehension about the fine print in a coupon.

Note: After my review, within the space of a few days, three new 4⁄5 star reviews suddenly popped up, each from someone who has just signed up to Unilocal and/or only reviewed this restaurant. Each one of the 3 reviews is also raving about the allegedly heavenly«Kachori» at this place. Now what are the chances that something like that would happen? Strip-mall joint in South Brunswick. Yes I saw the Unilocal review’s were bad but I’m a risk taker and I like to take a gamble now and then. Unfortunately arrived about 8pm on a pre-Labor day Sunday night to find just ONE table occupied… not a good sign and set-off my dive joint radar! Worse was to come when owner refused to honor my coupon for dine-in using some ridiculous small print that would make any white shoe lawyer proud. In a perversion of all known restaurant business logic that would have Gordon Ramsey screaming — I’ve just discovered the ONLY restaurant in NJ that accepts the coupon for take-out but not dine-in(thus depriving themselves of tips, drinks etc). Congratulations Aroma & Spice, did you ever think that this weird policy may explain why you are forced to accept the discounts and are still empty! Classic example of the poor state of Indian restaurants in NJ. Utterly incompetent owners with zero customer service skills and a nasty-attitudes pitching downmarket services at a exorbitant price to try and maximize how much the grab from hungry Desi customers in the shortest possible time. Each restaurant gets driven into the ground after which it will be replaced by a new place which will repeat the process. Just like this place, no ones in it for the long run or interested in building a real client base. Hopefully one day that will change. If you want the Fawlty Towers experience try this place, if not go to one of the other Indian places in the area. Sadly, you’re simply not going to find a good Indian restaurant in NJ, outside of Iselin, but at least you’re not going to experience the rudeness and lack of common sense at this place.

We been for buffet and its very pathetic food and it was not fresh too. I had never had such a bad food. There is no 0 star other i will give that. It looks like they kept ready to eat food. Never go there.

Went with a groupon to give it a try because it seemed to have gotten decent reviews here but must have been written by relatives or friends because the place is just too amateur. Went at 11 when they said they’d be open but they weren’t ready for the buffet and half of their lights were out. Food was alright but can’t really compete with what’s available in Franklin park. Would not return.

Sorry to write bad about this place but I can’t help it. This place sucks, not sure why it is still open. Get a better chef to cook food and stop serving frozen naan, let gets ABCD of owning a restaurant. If someone doesn’t eat your crappy buffet, don’t charge them and if the guy is nice enough to pay, appreciate or give him some discount . Service and buffet both sucks, hope you are reading this.

I do not want to give any star. I went there last month and yesterday to have buffet. I was very surprised. What happened to them. Quality of food went down drastically. Eliminated some delicious food items. The chicken is almost burnt. I went there for second time because i liked their food last month. I am very disappinted after having their food yesterday.

Not good. Not much else to say. With an Indian restaurant every other block around here, this just won’t cut it.

Found a groupon and tried out this place for Saturday buffet. the worst indian food ever had. looks like they just warmed up the instant packed indian food thats available in the stores and served in the buffet. most of the dishes are burned out.

We stopped by here for a weekend buffet today, not expecting much, but oh how we were wrong! :) heres what sets them apart from most commercial indian eateries: Fresh homemade tasting food which included handmade kachoris, their assorted veg pakodas, Tava fry, hot served on the table baturas, and not to undermine the only one, but mindblowing rasmalai. & Really friendly staff that’s willing to go the extra mile to ensure your comfortable and satisfied. This place is a little gem that we will certainly be returning to.

I went to Aroma & Spice this afternoon and got their Vegetarian Lunchbox to go. I must say that they were very friendly people who seemed to actually care about their customers. I have been to other Indian restaurants in the area and the workers act like they do you a favor if you ask for something. The lunchbox came with 2 vegetable dishes, dal, rice, naan and they gave me both a few pieces of appetizer and dessert. This is a lot of food for less than $ 7.50(including tax). I was beyond full after eating. They actually let you choose what dishes you want to get so I got the Paneer Korma and the Bindhi Masala. They were both decent. The paneer was in an interesting cashew sauce, I think, which wasn’t like the usual makhani sauce. I liked it, however I think it could have used a bit more cream maybe? This could just be because I have never tried it. The Bindhi was very flavorful. It tasted like they use Indian Bindhi vs. American Okra because it was a little chewier than what I am used to. However, this did not really affect the experience. I think the dal was what I least enjoyed compared to everything, but it was not bad. It was a little on the spicier end of the spectrum and that’s basically all it tasted like. The naan was very good as was the basmati rice. For appetizer they gave me two pieces of mixed vegetable pakora which were very flavorful and would pair perfectly with a nice warm cup of masala chai. The dessert was gulab jamun. This was also very good; it was not too sweet like some of the commercial brands that are available, and that is how I could tell that they must make it fresh. Overall, the food was definitely freshly made as it was very hot and did not taste old. The staff was very friendly and seemed to value their customers. I would recommend this to others to try out and I am sure I will be back to try some of their other dishes!

«Butter» Chicken Makhani is amazing! We came for the buffet with our whole family. It had a nice selection and satisfied those who didn’t like any spice to the extra spicy lovers. We’ve come back twice in 3 days! Service was great and it feels like we are long time friends here:)

Christmas Eve Dinner. We enjoyed the food very much. Veg. Pakora was best we ever had. Chat was wonderful. Mango Lassi is fantastic. Superb Navrratan Korma. Different but very good Channa Masala. Definitely will be back. Service was very good — happy and enthusiastic.

very few dishes compared to every indian buffet in town. whatever little food they have, tastes good and like home food. But the food isnt consistent, some dishes are good and some taste stale. I didnt try meat, but if you just go for vegetarian food, you will be disappointed as there was only 3 items that are vegetarian. Naan was fresh but basmati rice looked stale. Only one dessert on a weekend? that being said, not planning to go back again. Its just not worth it, considering you could drive a few more miles and get into princeton or new brunswick that have a few better indian eateries.

I’ll start with reviewing the outstanding service and move on to the exceptional food. All if the staff are so kind and beyond attentive — it was a total high point in my day to be treated so well(the water glass was never empty — asked by at least two servers my naan preference). The food is excellent and not super heavy or loaded with butter like some other restaurants — I could eat an entire plate and still function! Favs were the crispy onion-y pakoras(jalapeños available for the brave), the potato/okra combo, the tofu/pepper/onions and what appeared to be a coconutty-gingery dal. YUM! Loved the gulab jam — wish they had one nore dessert. Also would love for them to prepare the bel puri for you — I am terrible with assembling it on my own(or at least make the prep step-by-step idiot proof ;)). So thrilled with my find today — totally made my day to meet the people here and enjoy excellent food.

What a great find!!! Go looking for this treasure! We had a lovely evening and a wonderful meal. We asked a few questions and we were encouraged to ask more. The blend of spices and quality of food was perfect. We were brought a strawberry drink but I’m allergic so the nice gentleman brought us mango ones instead and they were like drinking heaven. Such a jewel! We will be back!

Average fair. Found food too sour. Chicken 65 was a disaster, Gobi Manchurian too much vinegar. For a Punjabi fare, Kadhai Paneer was poor. Will wait to go back.
