Amigo Mexican Restaurant

Food was yummy! We had Amigo Salad, steak tacos, Special Guadalajara and cheese dip. Thumbs up! Service was great! Will definitely come back!

I really wanted to like this restaurant. Really. Big parking lot, plenty of room inside, etc.
Reasonably close to my humble abode, even. AND, I drive past this location at least once each week as I run my weekly errands. So, there were many ‘pluses’ for this location. Then, I tasted the food.. .. .
Despite the many ‘pluses’ listed above, a restaurant IS a restaurant, and as a restaurant, this location falls flat.. . flatter than a frozen Mexican entrée in a Bi-​Lo freezer section on a Saturday night.
I ordered the ‘sampler’, which, should show a first-​visit diner where the strengths lay. There were none. Bland-​bland-​bland! I appreceate finely accented and flavored food. Tex-​Mex, or any derivative restaurant doesnt’ have to set the tongue aflame, but the offered entrees MUST carry a level of seasoning beyond what one can manage in one’s own kitchen, or offer the plate with a level of flourish that would send the house-​cats scrambling. Dayton Amigo doesn’t, and it doesn’t with a numbing, wishy-​washy flatness that is almost depressing.
Dayton Amigo is Mexican food for folk who don’t care for Mexican food. It won’t make you ill, but it won’t make you happy, either.
