Cutest little local coffee shop and bakery in Davis. It also is a movie rental shop and an Internet café as well, talk about multifaceted! All the pastries are homemade and the coffee is roasted beans from the owners’ family in Mexico, so delicious. So far I have tried the regular black coffee, the caramel macchiato and an almond scone, all three absolutely delicious. Lots of room and space to bring your work and study here, great atmosphere. This shop also serves quiches, paninis, and other various dishes made to order. I would definitely stop back in here again next time I am in town.

A neighborhood find. Good pastries, reasonable prices, comfy lounge. Appears to be owned by the friendly proprietor, who seems delightfully innocent of phony California image marketing.

This definitely one strange bakery/café…/video rental/electronics repair store. Yes I was fairly confused but boy was I surprised by the food. The place itself is a bit tacky and very different from where you’d think a bakery would be like. It certainly does give the family business feel from it though. Service was pretty decent, there wasn’t much of a line though with several customers standing around the register looking. I had a strawberry/cream cheese pastry and a bear claw, both amazing. They were super flaky and perfectly sweetened. That was a bit surprising because we came fairly late on a Sunday(around 2) and there weren’t many things left. The pastries were probably sitting out for a while but they still tasted fairly fresh. There was also a glass case filled with many different kinds of cookies, which looked really nice but I sadly was more in a pastry mood than cookies. If you want a yummy but cheap pastry, I’d say get it here since it was only bear claw for a giant strawberry/cream cheese(forgot what they called it). It may not look very big in the photo but it certainly does in person(and really filling too) Final Thoughts: It’s a bit far from me since it’s all the way in West Davis, but for the pastries, I will certain make the trip to have some more.

I give the overall general feel of this store a 4. The bakery part was good… I had a sweet flaky pastry croissant type concoction with cherry and cheese filling, and a hot chocolate as well. Based on that alone a strong 3 rating. However, I am a history buff, and the owner proceeded to give us a history lesson of the origins of nutella. That was pretty cool(and not being sarcastic). He and his wife(I assume his wife) were both very customer service oriented. This location also has comfy chairs, free books to read while eating(as long as you return or «share»), internet, and… a blast from the past in a movie rental shop. An interesting combination of a store if I ever found one, but would not hesitate to return if I wanted to relax with a bakery type dessert.

OK place. Service was awkward, rude employee. I got a large tea and was rudely told I had to pay for two teabags(Starbucks provides two tea bags for a large tea automatically) . Additionally the place was dirty and incorporated into an arcade and video store… kinda strange. Starbucks is down the road BTW

A video rental store that doubles as an electronics repair shop is probably the last place you would think to grab breakfast, right? Right?! WRONG. You, my friend, have probably fallen into the hole I like to call, passive judgement. Okay sure, with its dark exterior and cave-like existence tucked away in a lonely corner of the Westlake Plaza, this place might not seem like the ideal bakery, but dig yourself out of that hole right now because Stonegate has the best goshdarn pastries in Davis! Their baked goods are so delicious and their coffee is amazing, I would probably eat here every morning if I could… What to get: * Almond Croissants: Fresh, flaky, fragrant, flavorful, and so freakin good. My absolute favorite thing to get here. You’re definitely gonna want to get a couple of these! But hold your horses, they usually aren’t available until after 9 a.m. * Cinnamon rolls: Not your typical cinnamon roll by any means. Their dough has a delicate and flaky exterior, but it’s so fluffy and soft on the inside. And their glaaaaze, omagaaah. The sweet cinnamon glaze that graces the outside of the pastry is perfect and not heavy at all. It complements perfectly with their delicious Mayan Mocha! * Chocolate Croissants: Chocolate lovers, get your stretchy pants ready. These croissants are just as good as the almond. Smooth chocolate filling enveloped in a buttery croissant, rendering a fantastic flavor that’s not too sweet or overpowering. * Cream Cheese Danish: Oh gosh. So yum. Much wow. I just want to hug the person who bakes these every morning. * Brewed coffee: Tasty! A very smooth medium roast with a nutty flavor reminiscent of roasted hazelnuts. Fun Fact: Their coffee beans are from Chiapas, the owner’s hometown in southern Mexico. Pretty cool, huh? So in the end, Stonegate earns four stars in my book for great food, just minus a star for poor customer service. I honestly can’t get enough of this place. I would gladly take the trip all the way to Davis from anywhere for their pastries alone!

Best pastries in Davis! What a wonderful bakery we found today. I eat pastries more often then I care to admit, and make a point to try most bakeries wherever I’m living, but this place, because of its location, had escaped my attention. I’m so glad konditorei was closed today so we could find this place! The friendly man behind the counter is also the owner and baker. He is reason enough to come back, but you won’t need another excuse after you try the pastries. We got four pastries between the two of us and they were all delicious: chocolate croissant, almond croissant, cheese, and peach. He bakes the Austrian/German style of pastries, which are very light and fluffy and not overly sweet. The coffee was also surprisingly amazing, and apparently grown by his father. What a great place, I’ll definitely be back.

There is LITERALLY no reason to sit, stay and enjoy the best pastries in Davis. Seriously, the guy doesn’t even have a public toilet readily accessible for his guests to use(but he does have a secret one he’ll provide if you ask). Part video rental, part tech repair services, part … bakery and café? I don’t get it. But dang he makes a good almond croissant. And a GREAT cinnamon roll. And a wonderful chocolate croissant… everything was great. It’s like he used a special kind of butter, or just more of the regular kind. a lot more. His coffee comes from his parents’ farm down in Chiapas, Mexico where they grow and roast, then ship up to him to brew for his unwitting customers. I’ll be back; whether it is for a movie and pastry morning or otherwise. his goods are too good to pass up!

A fairly quiet place. Pastries and drinks delicious. Sometimes hard to find table with outlet(about 4 tables next to outlet). Kind of dark and stuffy. Come here if starbucks or peets is packed. A decent alternative café.

In addition to serving the best chocolate croissants and pastries in Davis, the computer repair service is the best I have ever experienced. After taking my IMac to Apple twice and to another computer service — all could do nothing — my IMac was resurrected here and now runs like new! Stonegate Café is where I will go for all my computer fixes in the future. They also recycle electronics for free which is a great service. All while enjoying a delicious cappuccino!

I adore this café/bakery/video store in my quiet West Davis neighborhood. It’s usually sparse on competition for tables, offers free Wi-Fi, and provides some of the best Mom-and-Pop coffee in town. When I’m studying particularly hard, and thus deserving of a little reward, I will purchase one of the myriad of bakery confections the owner produces each day. This man is an artist! His chocolate croissants are heaven and beat the socks off of any you will find at Starbucks or the grocery store. His cherry cream cheese danish are flaky and fresh, and it pairs well with one of the best Chai lattes I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is mellow and serene, and I’ve never been asked or encouraged to leave after spending hours studying in this café. I’m so fortunate to be within walking distance of this great locale, and I know I will be a customer of this family(and it is family-owned…Mom, Dad, and two little ones) for years to come!

I think it’s tempting for a business owner to want to add multiple streams of income by selling everything but I would recommend focusing a leetle more love on the coffee side of things. They are the only coffee place this far West in Davis and they could be killing it! My one and only experience there was an iced soy latte that was 99% soymilk, .5% espresso sort of, and .5% ice. That’s just bad business sense. More ice, more A/C, and not having the depressing news blaring would make this a tempting coffee/study hangout spot.

When you need to work or study somewhere that allows for some elbow room(something that is sorely lacking at a lot of Internet cafes in Davis), this is the place to go to! After scoping out various places, I decided to meet a business client here, and the atmosphere was absolutely conducive for working… spacious, peaceful, and quiet. Also, if you need a laptop to work on, they will rent one out to you for use in the café at the rate of $ 2 for 2 hours. On to the food. They have some fabulous looking desserts and some tasty paninis! I found the paninis to be quite generous in size and so I have yet to try the desserts, but I will definitely do that in the near future. Out of everything I’ve tried so far, I highly recommend the Pachuqueña and the Mayan hot chocolate.

I was here for the first time on Saturday, 3⁄31. I needed to study and I needed to get out of my apartment. I got a coffee(decaf w/soy, no problem) and the most AMAZINGCHOCOLATECROISSANTEVER. The place had steady customers but there is a good amount of seating, and I worked on my laptop with the wifi and had no problems. I am never going to Peet’s or Starbucks in Davis again.

Their cheesecake was average and so was the blended iced mayan mocha, but I love love how quiet and homey everything is here. It’s family owned I think and I just have a soft spot for that kind of thing. This is a great place to study with a fan and free wifi(if you’re a café customer). $ 6 minimum for visa/mastercard but there’s an ATM here too.

Coffee is fresh roasted here. Delicious flavored beans. They seem to specialize in Guatemalan beans. I often come here just to buy fresh roasted beans. They are good and they are inexpensive. This place is usually dead. This could be due to the location. Think 0 foot traffic. I often stop here when I am going to the Chinese place nearby for Dim Sum. The cookies are pretty good. I have never rented a video here.
