This place is great! I had the chocolate brick toast and it was delicious and huge! Also had a milk tea boba. Atmosphere is very nice as well with friendly service. Will be back!

Found out they have milk tea when I came to the Hub for ramen. I was even more pleasantly surprised that their Thai tea was really good, the best I’ve had in Davis. Free boba too. Service is great and friendly :) jealous of the ppl in West Village who can just walk down for some good boba

Where was this place when I was a student? Seriously, is this whole area a new? Anyway, headed to Brick Toast Café after eating some ramen next door(actually same door, different counter). I was pretty full but I had to check it out because I’d never heard of brick toast before. I asked the guy what was popular and he said that foreign students liked the green tea one better. He also explained which groups liked other flavors; different strokes for different folks, I guess(and even though it sounded a bit racist, I thought he was actually pretty on point. Hmm hopefully I’m not the one that’s racist). Since I’m not foreign born, I went with the Strawberry Bonfire. It was friggin’ delicious. The bread was buttery and crisp and that, combined with the contrasting texture of the strawberry ice cream, had the party in my mouth going. I was stuffed but I couldn’t stop eating. There were three of us and I think all of us walked away satisfied. Temple coffee is served, as well as boba, which seems to be the go-to more than the brick toast. A lot of good stuff to try and plenty of places to relax and/or whip out your laptop. Tip: Be prepared to wait fifteen minutes for the brick toast to be ready. It takes fifteen minutes to make and there’s a sign to prove it. There was nobody ahead of us and we had wait that long.

Went here on a Friday night, this place pleasantly surprised me! There was barely anyone there, and the barista working there was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered a large matcha milk tea with red bean and less boba. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth(think 80% dark chocolate) but love my milk tea. It’s a tough love since most places make it way too sweet for my liking. I would go here again because the base flavor isn’t crazy sweet. The sweetness of the red bean complimented the matcha very well. Boba was perfectly chewy! The barista was upfront with me that they use syrups for their ‘fresh teas’ and powders for their milk teas. I would go again and more often if it was a tad cheaper :) Note, boba is free but you have to tell them you want it!

This is a review for the boba only. I’ll have to come back at some point to try the brick toast. I imagine that given that their name is «Brick Toast Café,» their brick toast should be a highlight. This is not the most amazing boba place in the world, but I would wager to say that it’s a step above the more generic classic boba places like TapEx or Quicklys. They don’t use powdered teas, which is already a plus in my book. You have the option of choosing green or black tea as your base tea, and they offer a few additional flavors of milk tea and fruit flavors that can be added. You also have the option of picking between«sweet,» «normal,» and«lite sweetness.» I am not normally a fan of super sugary boba, so at most other places that offer the option of adjusting sweetness, I go for«lite sweetness» or «70% sweetness.» Here, though, I think that«lite» is almost a little too lite for me. Their«regular» sweetness is definitely not as sweet as what regular is at most other boba places, but for me, I think I would like it best if there was some sort of option between«regular» and«lite.» That would be the sweet spot for me(Haaaa, see what I did there? …lol) You can also add different toppings(70 cents extra for all toppings, but Boba is FREE). People on Unilocal keep recommending the Sea Salt Cream with black tea and boba, but to be honest, I didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would. I am a big big fan of the sea salt milk tea drinks at 85C, and the sea salt version they cook up at Brick Toast tasted different and not really to my taste. The boba itself is nice, with just the right amount of chewiness and firmness. A word of caution… be wary of the matcha green milk tea, as the powder can be somewhat overwhelming. Also, since matcha is normally on the more bitter side anyway, I would strongly suggest that you think twice about adjusting the sweetness level of this drink. Another intriguing thing about Brick Toast Café is that they have beer on tap and also a wine selection that you can choose from if you are in the mood. Now if only they would combine the boba and alcohol(ala Boba 7 in LA), then I would be one happy camper. At a little over $ 3 for a regular sized PMT/boba, this isn’t a bad deal. You can also order food from Banzai(next door) at the Brick Toast Café counter if you are so inclined. To be honest, Brick Toast Café is more of a 3.5 for me, but I bumped them up to 4 because the manager/owner/whatever his role is, Danny, has always been really nice and welcoming whenever I’ve come here. If you want to learn a little more about the history and philosophy behind Brick Toast Café, look for him, and I’m sure he’d be happy to oblige. Also, though some people on Unilocal have complained about the customer service here, I have never had a bad experience with the staff. Everyone has always been very friendly and helpful. They do take their time to make the drinks, but the most I’ve ever had to wait for a drink is a few minutes, which I think is reasonable. tl;dr: Cute little boba place located in the West Village area with decent tea and boba!

My goodness, absolutely the worst. My friend and I ordered the matcha brick toast($ 11.77 total) and was given a plate of disappointment. The bread itself is dry and flavorless so we had to coat it with the matcha ice cream and the cream, but the best thing to help the flavor was the condensed milk. Too bad the condensed milk was barely drizzled on the plate so I had to scrape the last of it in the beginning before I had to settle with the cream. The extra toppings were nuts and red bean and even those were in scanty quantity. Nothing about the dessert was rich and satisfying so I had to give a sad 1 star. I like what this place is trying to offer but they really need to up their game. Stop being so cheap and give the customers what they pay for.

I’m attending some classes at the Sacramento City College center and this place is right down the street. Instead of being in the cramped study lab during my hour intervals between my classes, I usually decide to come here to freeload their electricity for my personal use! Haha. The ambiance is chill and it’s my go-to study spot. Staff is nice and their drinks are decent. I tried a couple things and they’re not the best I’ve had, but pretty good for a smaaaall town like Davis.(:

Very reasonably priced for a regular sized boba tea at $ 3.17! Very authentic tasting too, I wish i were closer to Davis to come more often! No credit card fees either and they even have brick toast!

Another boba place out of the 5 billion in Davis. I ordered a black milk tea with matcha, normal sweetness and boba. My cousin ordered two drinks just a plain peach green tea, less sweetness and no boba and a jasmine green milk tea normal sweetness with boba. Let’s start with the customer service. The guy in front was not really friendly. Kind of sarcastic and a little rude… I asked him what the difference between the fresh tea and the milk tea flavors because I was genuinely confused. He kinda looked at me as if I was dumb and that my question was dumb. Maybe it was a dumb question but still. We ordered our drinks and we figured it wouldn’t take long for the drinks to be made. It took awhile. Like more than 10 minutes. I appreciate the time and effort but 15 minutes to make a drink… Idk maybe he should have more help then? The drinks were okay. The matcha boba was really gritty. It wasn’t smooth at all so it wasn’t really nice to drink just because of the texture. The tapioca was fine. My cousins peach tea was really sweet even though it was less sweetness. And the jasmine green milk tea was probably the best out of the three. This boba place is okay. Does it stand out in comparison to the others? No. Will I be back? Probably not. I would say go to teabo or mandro and you’ll receive faster service and a better drink.

I wasn’t expecting too much from this place, especially since we weren’t in any hurry to check it out as soon as I heard about it… and I also didn’t receive much from this place either, hence an average rating. Don’t get me wrong — the location is pretty sweet for this upper scale apartment complex for college students. If I lived here back when I was in college(omg I can say that now), I’d be pretty excited to walk downstairs anytime and grab boba, ramen, sandwiches, or go to the market. Brick Toast Café is in the same center as a ramen/poke spot and sandwich shop. like a mini food court. There’s plenty of seating and it was pretty empty for a Saturday night. Their menu is simple: milk teas, iced teas, brick toast. They also serve coffee, beer, and wine. The workers were pretty helpful and friendly. As for the product itself — I ordered a mango iced tea with sea salt cream. The cream wouldn’t mix in no matter how long I stirred… and it was way too sweet, even too sweet for myself and I love sweet drinks. The brick toast was good but too crunchy for my taste, and I thought the almonds were out of place. maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. My last impression was a lasting one — apparently this food court center closes at 10 and we had lost track of time especially since there were other customers still eating too. A lady at the Japanese food counter glared at us so we realized what time it was and got up to leave. I was still looking at her and she continued to glare and nodded and spoke to her coworker as if she was saying«yeah that’s right get out of here already.» I just thought it was pretty off-putting. I would’ve had no problem leaving if they came up to us and politely asked us to leave, much like other places commonly do, especially since it was our first time and we had never been there before… In a nutshell — boba and dessert was good but not terrible, just not quite enough for me to drive 30 – 40 minutes for when I have better options within 5 – 10 minutes instead.

I have had my eye on this place for a few weeks now because of the positive reviews I’d seen. I have tried brick toast before at a store in San Francisco and I had fond memories of it. This place did not live up to expectations. My boyfriend and ordered the Berry Tower. When it came out, it was a bit smaller than I expected. Thinking about the names of the brick toast dishes, I understand now that they do a play on the name with the shape of the dish. However, I feel like the tower was a little sparse on building material, if you know what I mean. I thought the dish was a bit small for the price($ 11.75). It did look appealing with a nice, colorful purée of berry and honey design on the plate and our tower topped with french vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. The toast was crispy and chewy at the same time and I would have really loved some more on the plate. Same with the ice cream; the Gunther’s ice cream is really nice and creamy and I would have liked a second scoop. While the dish did not match the memory I have of brick toast, it was still decent and Brick Toast Café is one of the few places in Davis that does offer this dish. The service here is really commendable. It’s other students that work here and I really appreciated that the staff of the other restaurants in the room also were friendly to us. That is what really saves it for me. I would definitely come back if I had another craving of brick toast and felt like splurging a little.

Great place to hang out with friends but it can be loud at times. I had the salmon poke bowl and it was very filling although spicier than I expected. Also had their black milk tea with boba with full sweet and it was delish! Wish it was a little colder but overall a decent drink. Not worth the price though.

So glad there’s a good brick toast location in Davis now! My friend and I had the berry brick toast and it was definitely good. I’d recommend you share it with a friend because it’s fairly large. The service is an 9⁄10. Everyone’s pretty friendly and willing to offer suggestions and all that jazz~ They have Temple coffee and use Gunther’s ice cream. Definitely worth a try.

For davis, this place is really good. Their ingredients are much more fresh than the other competitors in town. My friends got the taro milk tea and green milk tea. They were both tasty. I got a jasmine tea with less sugar and aloe. I recommend this if you’re going for something with less sugar. The ambience is quiet, which is a plus. No loud music. I see people tutoring and studying here. I can see myself coming here often. Only hard part is that its in west village. It’s far-ish from campus, but if you drive or bus it should be fine. I found 2 hr parking spots around the area. Tdlr: try it! Modern feel and good tea flavored drinks

Surprisingly a gem in Davis! Their tea is STRONG which I like. However it’s not as tasty as I would hope which is strange because I usually like the places with stronger tea. Their toppings aren’t bad and the drinks are refreshing. They’ve added a selection of beer and wine which is very cool. I would recommend trying, it’s definitely different compared to other stuff in Davis. I would probably only come back if I’m too lazy to leave West Village. Street parking only!

+1 star for the brick toast, but –1 star for the milk tea, so we’re back at 3 stars MILKTEA: I got the green tea with sea salt crema(one of my fav drinks back at home in the Bay Area) and it wasn’t good at all :(They didn’t put enough of the crema on ours which made our tea really watery and not milky/creamy at all, so disappointing. BRICKTOAST: I love that they use Gunther’s ice cream!!! It makes the brick toast so much better because the toast itself was pretty mediocre, but the ice cream makes it so good and they’re really generous with the scoop of ice cream! It’s pretty pricey though, all brick toasts are $ 10. I would definitely come by here again :)

My boyfriend and I were a little hesitant to try their bricktoast at first because we haven’t see anyone get them. I’m quite a sweets/dessert snob LOL, so didn’t want to buy something, that wasn’t going to taste good. BUT we got it anyways xD FOOD: Tea — I got the Taro Milk tea, it tasted okay. Tasted like any other powder made taro milk tea. Bricktoast — Great presentation! we got the green tea pyramid. It consisted of 3 slices of thick toast slices into 9 long pieces, a scoop of Gunther’s green tea ice cream, 2 green tea pocky sticks, red bean, whip cream, nuts and drizzled with honey. The toast and green tea was good — nice and toasty. Nuts added a good texture. The honey was a little too much, and made whole plate too sweet even for my huge sweet tooth. Overall, not bad for a place that just opened for a couple weeks. SERVICE: friendly people, a little slow, but understandable since bricktoast does take some time to make. AMBIANCE: very hipster and modern feel, clean and lost of natural lighting :) Don’t see myself coming here that often. Maybe if I’m having a bricktoast crave and too lazy to go to Snowbee or SnoCrave in Sac.

TL: DR WiFi, decent boba, decent coffee, great service, WiFi. This is great place to go if you want to chill with your friends, grab a drink or even do your homework. They offer several different milk teas and coffee. Unlike many boba places, they do not serve slush and smoothies. Their regular size milk tea is $ 2.50 and they do charge you $ 0.50 per topping. Compared to other boba places in Davis, the drinks are inexpensive and reasonably priced. What makes them stand out is that they serve coffee, which is great for those who have to go to school early in the morning or who need the extra boost to keep themselves awake. It’s even conveniently located right by the bus stop(V line). So far I have had their caramel macchiato, taro milk tea, and matcha black milk tea. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of milk tea in general, but their drinks were decent. They had just recently opened and are slowly adding new items to their menu. Although they don’t sell brick toast at the moment, I can see great things coming from this place in the future. Did I mention they have WiFi?

Great customer service, strong(authentic) tea and a unique list of flavors. Try the sea salt crema on top of the jasmine tea as well as the matcha milk tea! Will definitely be returning for the brick toast next week.
