Delicious, fun and unique popsicle flavors! I recently tried FatFace for the first time at Off the Grid at the River Walk in West Sac and it was the perfect thing in the 100 degree heat. I had the Hibiscus Mint Popsicle. It was so refreshing and tasty!

So I am apparently the odd man out because I’ve never had their Popsicles. Nothing against them just haven’t tried them yet. I do however stop by their stand at the Sunday Davis Farmers’ Market occasionally to score a breakfast sandwich. I have a pretty good appetite but find myself fully satisfied with the half sandwich. I agree that ~$ 11 for a full is a lot of money but a half is more than adequate. Keep in mind this is high quality food and when you want fresh, free range, organic etc you are going to have to pay for it. If you are looking for a better calorie to $$ ratio Carl’s Jr has that angle covered but I just can’t bring myself to eat that stuff(I hesitate to call it food). Most recently I had ciabatta with fried egg, smoked Gouda, pink lady apples and arugula with a browned butter vinegarette — really amazing and something I never would have thought to put together.

Fat Face is a stand located at the Davis Farmers Market. They serve breakfast and lunch items(haven’t tried), but what I love this place for is their popsicles. I’ve had popsicles from SoCal and NorCal, but these are by far my favorite. Sometimes when it comes to popsicles, it’s easy for flavors to be light or get lost, but not here! Not only do their flavors shine through, but they also have an interesting selection. Their mango sticky rice flavor is so unique, I’ve never seen it anywhere else. If you’ve ever had the chance to have the Asian dessert of sliced mangoes with warm, sweet, sticky rice, you will not be disappointed with this popsicle flavor because it tastes exactly like the dessert! I also tried the peach lavender and you can taste the fruitiness of the peach balanced with a flowery, light taste of lavender. Whenever I’m in Davis, I hope to try a new flavor!

Thea food vendors can be seen at the Davis farmers market. They sell ciabatta sandwiches, but are most famous for their Popsicles. They have the most interesting combinations and are always coming up with new flavors. Mango sticky rice is an example of an interesting combination that is delicious. Don’t pass up a taste. I am not a fan of their sandwiches. I got a goat cheese sandwich today. The spinach was cooked, not fresh, and was mixed with something pickled. It didn’t work well. There was barely any goat cheese on the sandwich as well. I expected it to be a delicious flavor combo like their pops but it just fell flat. I felt myself regretting my purchase entirely. Hit fat face for their pops! So worth it! I would pass on their food, especially with so many delicious options at the farmers market.

Great for breakfast/lunch option for the farmers market. I ordered the shakshuka and it was one of the best I ever had. The tomato stew was well seasoned, flavorful and tasty. Love the hidden fried egg on the bottom instead of the usual egg traditionally on top. Cart owner was friendly and courteous, food was made quickly and presentation was nice. They put a lot of effort into making a great meal to start your day. I would come here to try more of their tasty offerings!

2÷28÷15: Very INTERESTING combination of foods here! Just a food stand out in the park, but reminiscent of a gourmet food truck. The breakfast sandwiches aren’t anything special, besides being perfectly prepared, but those popsicles!!! – OMG, I think they are the Very Bestest! 1. Bacon Special $ 9 «Full»: Just a very basic breakfast sandwich perfectly made. Bread is fresh, buttery, and yummy. Eggs are pretty plain. Bacon is thick and high quality. You can make this at home, but still, nothing wrong with it perfectly cooked here either. 7⁄10. 2. Apple $ 11 «Full»(+1.50 for a slice of bacon): So, total $ 12.50 for this one. To be honest, though the ingredients listed include fancy stuff like«browned butter vinaigrette» and«Vega Farms eggs» and yada yada, it basically tasted the same as the Bacon Special above. I dunno – I guess maybe the bread kinda takes over the taste? Well, again, perfectly made, but at $ 12.50, I don’t think it’s really worth the price anymore. 5.5÷10. Alright, on to the BEST part: 3. Black Sesame(vegan) popsicle $ 3: Yeah, so I’m not a fan of sesame. The only sesame I like are those Chinese mochi balls you put in hot pot or in red bean soup dessert, and this awesome black sesame cheesecake crust the girl made. BUT, I have to say I do appreciate the extra special qualities of this popsicle. The flavor of the sesame is strong, the whole thing is creamy, and it just tastes totally special. Ain’t my thing, but if you like sesame you will definitely LOVE this one. 8⁄10. 4. Smoked Fig + Bleu Chz popsicle $ 3: Best popsicle in the world. Period. Man, the flavors… gawd. So, I don’t taste any bleu cheese really – though since I knew it was there maybe I imagined a hint. But who cares… that fig flavor is amazing! – it totally is smoky and intense. Cream, cold, and richness all in one. 100⁄10. Yeah, so get the sandwiches cause you gotta eat – they’re expensive though so just know you’re gonna get ripped off a bit there. But those popsicles are sooooo worth it! I’d give ‘em a 3⁄5 for the sandwiches, but those popsicles are like 10÷5… so total 4⁄5? #breakfastsandwich #foodstand #stand #popsicle #vegan #fat #face

Saw their booth at the Eat Real Fest 2014 and my friends insisted on grabbing a popsicle since we all went to UC Davis(gotta support!) and it was a hot day. Eat Real 2014 Menu $ 3.50/popsicle Peach Lavender Kaffir Lime & Avocado Mango + Sticky Rice Blueberry Lemon Yogurt Melon Horchata Root Beer Float Apricot Curry Thai Tea + Sweet Potato Black Sesame Strawberry Lemonade Strawberry Coconut Smoked Fig + Vanilla Blue Chz:($ 5) – Locations – Popsicles Only: Sacramento-Midtown: Bows and Arrows Collective Map Davis: NOW at the Davis Food Co-op! San Francisco-Fort Mason: Off the Grid Market Fridays 5−10pm Popsicles and Food: Davis Farmers Market-Saturday: Year Round, 8−12pm Breakfast egg sammies and pops Our Order: Peach Lavender Mango + Sticky Rice Melon Horchata Thai Tea + Sweet Potato Strawberry Lemonade Root Beer Float Smoked Fig + Vanilla Blue Chz On the weekends when I went to school at UCD, I would go to the farmers market there and see this stand. Back then the flavors were very watery thus making the popsicles way too icy. I was extremely hesitant trying them again but it’s been nearly 8 – 9 years so I figured it could be different. I really love black sesame but since it was so warm that day, I wanted something fruity and refreshing. Since my BF ordered the Melon Horchata the other one I wanted to try was the Smoked Fig + Vanilla Blue Chz. I actually don’t like blue cheese but the combination sounded so intriguing that I had to try. Even though I love horchata, I actually enjoyed the Smoked Fig + Vanilla Blue Chz popsicle better. It was creamy and a hint of the blue cheese. My BF was really hot(so he says but I think he really just wanted another one) so he went and got another popsicle and got the Mango + Sticky Rice. This was also really good as strange as the sticky rice sounds. Strong mango flavor, the sticky rice was in the center an kind of had a soft mochi texture. Tried my friends’ flavors as well and was glad to see that they improved their Thai Tea popsicle immensely. I believe the sweet potato gives more dimension to the flavor. So glad I tried them again. Would definitely recommend.
