Yumz… not too yummy! Several years ago when self serve fro-yo was becoming popular, there were five fro yo establishments within a few blocks of each other in my neighborhood. One by one they have closed, with Menchie’s being the only one of those original five remaining open. I guess this neighborhood can only sustain so many fro-yo places, and when the competition was fierce, the business with the best quality won out. Yumz took over one of those original closed places, Yogurtworks. I did not like the yogurt at Yogurtworks and I do not like the yogurt a Yumz either. I was there with my boys and we tried several flavors. Most of them had a very thin, watery consistency. I tried Peanut Butter first, usually one of my favorites, and it was very strange. The color was very unappetizing, it had a weird taste and it was watery. Butter Pecan was equally bad. Vanilla was watery. The better flavors were Chocolate(very chocolatey) and Strawberry Cupcake. The toppings area was very small. My son complained that the chocolate toppings were so chilled that they stuck together. The young man working at Yumz was very nice and was generous with sample cups. There was such little traffic in the store on a Friday night that I really wonder how long Yumz will stay open.
