A Anthony’s coal fire pizza clone on steroids is the best way to describe Esposito’s this past evening as 7 of us ventured out looking for something new in the Davie area after a round of golf. Like its model before her its Coal fire pizza with a twist though. They also have a regular oven for NY Style pizza, no chicken wings and a full Italian menu to choose from as well. Nobody in the place between 5:30 and 7:30PM on a Wednesday night in the heart of tourist season which does not bode well for longevity. Place nicely appointed with booths, tables modern looking beer and wine bar only with open kitchen, it has all the makings of a top notch place. Unfortunately the food simply does not live up to its ambiance and that is where they fail though some things are good, too many things are mediocre to poor. Wine list was awful with no value or any quality wines to choose from. Starting off with Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara and Fried Zucchini with Marinara, both are OK … they looked pre-packaged as all were uniform in size and batter layered. The Marinara sauce was simply Bland. Plain bread and Garlic Rolls are provided of which the Garlic rolls are a winner while the knots of bread without are pointless get the garlic rolls if going. Next up a Plain Cheese Coal Fired Pizza was simply OK. Not close to Anthony’s Coal Fire and the Pizza sauce again was simply Bland. The Meat Lovers NY Style Pizza was much better with all its various meats giving it some flavor and the crust was decent but again lack of real spice or pizza sauce marinara«UMPH» makes this ok but not a knockout. Salads were all individual with various dressings, I did not partake in the Salads but were told the were fine as Salads could be. Entrees. 2 Veal Parm Sandwiches were toasty and crispy with veal being good for fried and baked but lack of good Marinara unfortunately makes would could have been a winner fall short. Fettuccini Alfredo was by far best dish on table along with the Veal Francaise over pasta while the Eggplant was blah, and the Veal Marsalla although good quality veal was used the sauce was a brown tasteless nothing. What could have been an excellent destination unfortunately falls short in the key components of an Italian dining place. Their Marinara sauce which is the key component to so many things especially the pizza needs a major overhaul. With that said it wasn’t a TERRIBLE meal just OK… more like 2.5 stars. Has potential with some tweaks but with all the options in the area I’m afraid failure is in its future.

I ordered a pizza on NYE from this place because basically it was the only restaurant open & I know it has been there for a long time. I decided to pick up rather than deliver because the time difference was over a hour & I had a concert to go to. The pizza was ready when I came in & the restaurant appeared very clean. However, the pizza was extremely disappointing. I normally love coal fired pizza, Anthony’s is the best! I would be better off ordering from Dominoes. I did not try anything else, but it would be hard for me to go back.

took my kid for a large caesar salad and a 12″ NY style pizza, yummy! all of it was great! Salad chrisp with just the right amount of dressing and shaved parmesan cheese too! The cheese pizza was super thin crust with a nice amount of sauce/cheese ratio! We took ½ the pizza home and I ate it cold for breakfast!

Wow! The pizza here is absolutely superb! We tried the coal fired two different ways, one with the sauce on top, and the other was the Esposito’s favorite. They were both different, but excellent. I can’t decide which was my favorite. I also really enjoyed the small Caesar salad with fresh sliced parmigiana. We will definitely keep coming back!

Have been coming here for years. Food is consistently great. Renovations for coal fire pizza and décor is awesome. My new favorite spot. I would have added a photo of pizza but I ate it too fast haha

We were excited to try a new pizza place while visiting my mom’s house. We ordered delivery through Unilocal(a large Hawaiian). After waiting an hour the delivery guy shows up, shoves a pizza in my husband’s hands and runs back to his car. It’s the wrong pizza, a margarita pizza. I call thinking maybe our pizza is in the drivers car. It’s an easy mistake to make. Got a woman on the phone who sounded like she could care less. She asks me if I’m sure I ordered through Unilocal… Umm yes. She finally find my order and says they made the wrong pizza? I ask how we can remedy this because I’m sitting here with a pizza I don’t want and we’re all hungry. «I guess we could make you another pizza but it will take over 30 mins to get there.» You guess??? Over thirty mins after we already waited an hour? No thanks. she says«well we will give you ten percent off next time.» And then hangs up before I can say anything else. I’m so bummed out. There won’t be a next time.

They got my order wrong. I ordered delivery online-which uses the Eat 24 people. And they are very overpriced. I got penne a la vodka, can of root beer, and a small NY style supreme pizza, and 6 garlic rolls-$ 45. They called to say that they do not have root beer, so I said ok give me iced tea. Well delivery was fast, but they gave me the coal fired supreme pizza instead of New York style. I’m from up north so I realllly wanted NY style. There is a difference. But the coal fired was still absolutely amazing. They gave me a Coke soda-which I hate– instead of iced tea. The penne wasn’t anything different from how I make my spaghetti. I always add cream and a little Parmesan cheese to it. Mine actually tastes better. But it wasn’t bad tasting, just something you might as well make at home for ½ the price. Garlic rolls were good, but umbertos on pines blvd is better. Il mulino in sunrise has the best penne ala vodka. So if you want good homemade pasta dishes, go there. If this rating was based on the pizza alone, I would give it 5 stars. But the mix up, the price, and the meh penne bright it down to 1. Sorry. I would go here again for the pizza.

I would give the food at this place a 4, actually, but poor service can ruin a dining experience, thus the two stars. My husband and I dropped in on a Friday night, and were seated at a very small table. We were at the table for at least ten minutes before our waiter approached. We gave him our entire order at that time, and the only other times we saw him was when he dropped off our drinks and family salad, not bothering to ask if we needed sugar for the iced tea or plates to share the salad. Our food was very good — in addition to the Italian salad we ordered grilled wings and a small vegetarian pizza(delivered by other servers). Luckily, we were able to flag down a very affable busboy for all of our remaining needs — sugar, plates, Parmesan cheese — uh, the BILL. We had to grab an empty pizza box ourselves from the counter adjacent to our tiny table and were happy to have cash to make a quick escape after paying the bill. This is the first time and the last time at this restaurant for us — no one wants to feel neglected and have to flag down the busboy(who should be promoted to server) for service.

Let me be clear – the FOOD gets 5 stars. I have zero complaints when we eat here or pick up food(which we do 1−2x/week. Seriously.) However, the b*itch with the Russian accent who sometimes answers the phone and takes delivery orders needs to be fired. She is rude, abrupt and belligerent. Without fail, every time she takes an order, it gets screwed up, or takes 2x the typical delivery time to arrive. My wife complained to me about this months ago, and I dismissed it as woman-on-woman snark. However, now that I have personally experienced the same phenomenon several times, one has to wonder if this woman is stupid, lazy, or intentionally sabotaging an otherwise outstanding dining experience. Management – take note. If you wonder at empty tables or decreased receipts, you now know why.

My wife and I found Esposito’s a couple months ago. We have only been there for lunch and have only had their coal fired pizza. Right now we consider it the best pizza in town and, believe me, we have eaten a lot of pizza. During our last visit our waitress, Gabriella, was attentive and quite engaging. They do have a large«Italian«menu for dinner.

Being from NY– coal fired pizza isn’t really my thing. I was not impressed by their NY style pizza. I have only ever gotten pizza here so I can’t comment on any other food. Good service, food came out quick.

We’ve previously ordered takeout from this restaurant, so on the way from the airport we decided to go in and have a sitdown meal. Well upon entering there were plenty of workers around, plenty of empty tables as well. The absence of a welcome greeting, was odd. Thats the best way to describe the feeling. It was not until we had wandered into the middle of the restaurant and voiced aloud… Is there a hostess? At once a someone appeared and a voice announced from behind to sit anywhere we would feel comfortable. Now on to the food garlic rolls were very good. Aranci balls were delicious, Fettuccini Angelica was good but overpriced. I think we will just continue to order take out. In the past the pizzas we picked up were delicious and worth the prices. As for our dinner tonight, I found the service subpar and the food was good but highly overpriced. But maybe it was an off night.

Always looking for a delicious coal fire pizza that delivers to my. Found this one on Unilocal and gave it a try on my Carb Day!(one day a week, so I am really expect to be satisfied!) I was a little disappointed. The pizza was not fully cooked and was still doughy in the middle. I think they probably were just rushing to try to get us our food in time(we ordered delivery) but I would rather have waited an extra 10 min than get a pizza we ended up not even eating more than a slice each off. Since I only get one carb day a week, chances of me going back here is really low. Hopefully others have a better experience.

The pizza was good thin and crispy. But the lobster ravioli was fishy, don’t order it. The staff is good and service is good.

Unfortunately the lady that runs the place is unappreciative of our company providing her with non stop business. Officially over this place and their ridiculous antics. My company orders from their all time(we are located in davie). From small business to small business, you should learn how to treat your long term customers. There are weeks we order from there three times a week and that’s not to mention the ten pies of pizza we order from there every other week when we have meetings. Customer service goes a long way, good luck to you! As a small business, i know what it is like to receive reviews like this. The food overall is good but one would think that treating regular customers in a friendly matter is important in order to keep them happy.

Shortly after this restaurant opened we went in and enjoyed their coal fired pizza and wings. Then we tried their killer roasted beet salad and eggplant stack. We were loving it there — until we went on a night when a large party sat near us and the men on opposite ends of the table were screaming and carrying on. One of the women in the party tried to calm them but they were obnoxious. The servers were kids and huddled together, unsure of what to do. We scarfed our food, had the rest packed up and our server walked us out, apologizing for the behavior of the people next to us. We just didn’t want to go back. It was an uncomfortable night and we really didn’t think the servers would handle it any better in the future. Then today hubby and I returned. The piano music sounded live — they have a great sound system. The textiles of the dining room are top-notch. It’s evident they poured money into this restaurant. The men by the coal oven were hustling and our server, Bob, was an adult. The patrons today were well-behaved so we were able to focus on the great food. Their garlic rolls tasted freshly made and had fresh garlic on top — not a ladle of garlic oil. The coal-fired Margherita pizza had ribbons of fresh anise-flavored basil, diced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. It also had red sauce and while it was a delicious pie with a thin crust, I’d have preferred it without the sauce. Next time I’ll request that — although hubby likes sauce so I’ll ask that half the pie be sauce-free! One of their specials was cioppino — lobster tail, large shrimp, mussels, clams, fish fillet and calamari in a rich tomato broth. It had four long pieces of bread standing up along half the bowl. The fish and seafood were tender and tasty. The lobster stuck to the shell but the bits I got out were sweet. We only had 3 pieces of pie and a bit of the cioppino so we have plenty of leftovers. The food was solid. Bob’s service was friendly, attentive but not clingy. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. It’s worth going back — and I’m very glad that we did.

I dont understand how this place has any bad reviews. I ordered pizza from here maybe 5 weeks ago and it was amazing. The garlic rolls were great. I again visited and actually sat down for dinner. The mozzarella sticks were good. I had no problem with them. They were actually better than the ones they serve at the cheesecake factory. I also ordered the same coal fired pizza and it was good. So again I went sat down for dinner recently. I ordered pasta and so did my date. We both loved it. He ordered the penne alla vodka and he said it was great. I ordered the baked ziti and it was amazing. By far one of the best baked zitis I’ve ever had. My salad was great. It tasted very fresh. The dressing was flavorful. The garlic rolls here are amazing. I love them. They are very garlic-y so if you only like a little garlic then you might not like them. I love tons of garlic on them so its okay with me. I would recommend this place to anyone. Our waiter was amazing. He was super nice. He was very attentive.

Beautiful atmosphere, stunning furniture, food is amazing!!! Definitely will be back!!! Don’t judge it by the outside since it is in a strip mall, believe me it’s great food and you will love it! Bravo 5 stars!

This place is more of a 3.5, but I’m rounding up because I thought the service here was really good. We had a larger party, some large food requests, and asked for the bill a couple times, because someone kept changing their mind about dessert. The waiter didn’t bat an eye and was very accommodating. It looks a lot nicer on the inside than the outside, with a lovely ambiance and what appears to be a recently remodeled interior. We got some of the appetizers, fried calamari, fried zucchini, and fried mushrooms(it was a lot of fried things…). Calamari was good, but the other two were a miss. I didn’t like the fried mushrooms because they were so caked in batter that they were essentially fried balls of dough. I was slightly hoping for bigger mushrooms that were lightly battered and fried, with a vinegary garlic sauce, but clearly, my idea of what I think fried mushrooms are just set me up for disappointment. I ordered the coal-fired prosciutto and arugula pizza, and for dessert, had a cappuccino. Both were good and I would say this is one of the better places for pizza that I’ve been to. I also tried the Margherita and thought that was tasty. My companions had the Oreo cheesecake, cannolis, and Tiramisu. I didn’t try the cannoli, but I was told by the New Yorker at the table that is was one of the better ones in this area. Overall, come for the pizza and dessert, and you should leave satisfied.
