Party of four. We entered the dreary, dark building through the stubborn, neglected front door. They have a food-spattered budget 40″ flat screen TV that was the first thing I noticed, because it was behind the counter, right where a staff person should have been. Alas, we had to flag down the stony-looking waitress, who told us with a sneer and a slight lisp to sit anywhere we like. We sat outside. The chrome tables were blinding. And wobbly. The smokers at the street end of the patio were blowing patchouli and tobacco smells all over my face. After several minutes, the waitress came out and took our orders. I ordered a burrito; the rest of my group ordered chilaquiles, blueberry pancakes, and a blue cheese bacon burger. The ugly leotard-sporting, cross-bearing stoner waitress brought us water after a while: tap water(we hope; it tasted strong), no ice. My burrito came pretty promptly, and there was actually nothing wrong with it – although it would have been hard to tell, as the ingredients were all mashed together and unrecognizable. Giant chunks of jalapeño were easy to remove. It was … decent, for a ten-dollar burrito. The rest of the food started trickling after about another half hour. I was done eating by the time my colleagues were ready to begin. Our remaining time at this interesting café was a bit of a shit-show. the chilaquiles, which were ordered with cheese on the side, were inundated with greasy melted cheese that had bonded and fused to every ingredient in the dish. This was taken back to the kitchen by the waitress with a frustrated little«I TOLD the cook…». We decided on cheese-free for the next try, which took about another 20 minutes to arrive. The second round of chilaquiles were eaten, regrettably, and did cause stomach troubles. The eggs were cooked okay, but the chips were soggy and the dish was bland overall. The blueberry pancakes were not cooked, and did not have any blueberries in them. Upon inquiry, we discovered that they were in fact all out of blueberries. My comrade bit the bullet and ate around the more batter-filled portions, but not before another ten minute wait to acquire tiny disposable plastic containers of syrup and butter. The burger came with bacon, but no blue cheese. Also no ketchup — we went hunting, and came up with a 1/10th-full bottle of Heinz. After a long wait, the waitress returned and we were able to get her attention. Turns out they were also out of blue cheese. When we decided to return the burger, a grungy one-armed dude came out of nowhere and offered us anything on the menu to replace it. My associate was feeling ill at this point, and settled on a «mint» milkshake, which turned out to be a vanilla milkshake with some sort of neon green pus smeared on the inside of its 16-oz glass. The drinks did look decent, though I did not partake. Lots of skuzzy individuals were lounging in the sun getting their AM shitface on. This joint is probably a competent destination for boozing and bong hits…

Have had some nice breakfasts here with my family! Excellent food, really nice servers. :) Go up for a great weekend brunch or post surf meal(I don’t surf but see many surfers there, of course). Very worthwhile.

I used to absolutely love this place. In 2012 – 2013, as a college student, this place was the shit. It was the picture of the perfect place to come back to after a day of hanging out at the beach. The spinach salad was phenomenal. I don’t know what happened. They seated us quickly enough, and took our orders. My partner had an enchilada, I ordered a butter lettuce salad. I should preface by saying that the whole time we have been here, we have been 1 of 2 – 3 small to medium groups in the restaurant, max. The first red flag was when I went to pour my coffee and all the huge, huge jugs were completely empty. The coffee here has always been self serve in the time that I’ve been coming here, which I expected. What I didn’t expect was for the staff to be completely unaware. I’m not sure they’d have caught it if I hadn’t called into the kitchen to snag a waiter’s attention. Wait time for coffee: 20 minutes. Additionally, the sugar container was an open jar that also included no way to pour, spoon, etc. sugar into your drink. Wat. Around this time I returned to my seat and my salad arrived… With green lettuce. Which would have been less of a faux pas, I think, if I hadn’t waited about half an hour for it to come out. By this time my partner’s food still hadn’t arrived. Wait time: 30+ minutes. So, I decided to top up on my coffee… And discovered a fly in the sugar jar. Ewww. A few minutes after returning to our table my partner’s food arrived, and our waitress told her«Thanks for staring at me.» Wait time: 40+ minutes and an extremely inappropriate comment by our waiter. When someone came in close enough range to hail so we could ask for water, she poured a mysterious black char-looking substance in my partner’s water. When we told a different waiter, he brought us a glass that had said substance actually stuck onto the glass. We had to ask a second time to actually get a clean glass with clean water in it. I am someone who works in the service industry and has worked in foodservice, and I understand picky customers can be hell. But at this point it’s been over an hour, no waiters have been in sight or available to confront in 95% of that time, there are still no more than three tables occupied, and there are flies trying to drink my coffee. This is disgusting. Seriously, the McDonald’s I’m about to go to is cleaner. I’m afraid eating what I ordered here would give me food poisoning.

The waitress seemed like it was an inconvenience to ask for aside order with a beer. We never got napkins, no water, I would not come back again. Rude people inside.

This place is weak. Food is below average and the staff is flat out rude. We can’t order drinks before or even with food? Have to wait until the stoned waitress could figure it out. Stick with the simple foods. Fish tacos. DONOT order the pulled pork it was cold and terrible.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! I never write bad reviews but this place was beyond bad! The waitress was the worst waitress I have ever encountered. I was a waitress for 6 years so I ALWAYS sympathize with waitress. However this place was dirty the waitress actually cussed at me! DIRTY be afraid if you eat here! Be very afraid! If I could give a 0 star I would.

Garbage food and service. We got the clam chowder and fish and chips, both were horrible. We had 1 bite of the clam chowder and left it. The service is even worse. We asked for hot sauce and didn’t get in until we were at the last few bites. The best part was the beer, which is clearly not made by them. The food and service are horrible… Don’t waste your money.

My wife ordered chicken enchiladas, they gave her steak. My son received sour chocolate milk. I received a salad with lettuce that was turning brown and soggy. The burgers were pretty bland. Restaurant is a bit on the dirty side. The waitress was very nice, but she had a mild altercation with the cook, Chuy, over blue cheese dressing being in the wrong spot. This is probably not something that should take place in earshot of customers. We decided to go here because the restaurant next door was packed and we didn’t feel like waiting in line. This café was completely dead. Now, I think I know why…

I eat burritos on a weekly basis, been to the«best» shops in town but this place has possibly the best burrito I’ve ever had. Seriously. Get the chicken or shrimp burrito.

Extremely disorganized. Very poorly trained staff. No one is steering the ship here. Our orders took forever to place, over 15 minutes for them to inform us that one dish was not available, and then after half an hour we had to beg for them to deliver our food. This restaurant is an example of how shockingly poor leadership leads to a disappointing customer experience. Never again.

I came in with a group of riders for lunch during a Labor Day ride. I was happy to see that they had breakfast until 1:00, and even happier that they had huevos rancheros. That was the apex of the meal. Ordered, waited for over 45 minutes, received the meal — which looked only moderately appetizing. Began eating and … crunch — egg shell. I thought, ok, everyone has a bad day, resumed and literally half of an egg’s worth of shell. Wtf. Avoid this place at all costs. Rarely would I ask from the meal to take something back. This was one of those times. Not only did it result in me not getting to eat with the group but it caused me to miss the rest of my ride.

As a customer here for years, I am so happy to see the return of the original owners. They are awesome people fully devoted to making this place sparkle. The food is delicious and the environment even more delicious. It is clean, great vibes, happy, family run, and my absolute favorite place to stop when driving down Highway One. Awesome views and good energy all around. You can really feel it when people take pride in their businesses and this place is a prime example. Also they have good taste in music over the years!

The reason I’m given two stars is solely because of the drinks. We got the chivella and mimosas. They were huge!!! Well worth the price. For the food, we got the fish n chips. They were terrible. The«chips» were soaked in oil from the fryer.(which I’m sure the oil hasn’t been change in a while.) The tarter a sauce and cocktail sauce were watered down completely. And as far as the service. There was none. The staff look at you as if you are causing them some type of inconvenience. This place is dirty. Don’t touch the menus, they are sticky and greasy. This place is a no go unless you are only stopping by for drinks!

The food quality here was amazing. Extraordinary service. We had great burgers, salads, and a tuna melt. There’s an incredible bakery with tons of sweets, muffins, and fresh baked breads. The coffee is really good as well. The restaurant and patio are very clean. Highly recommended.

I have never met such an attentive sweet helpful waitress. Her name is Britt. We ordered the deep fried artichokes and the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was amazing! It came in this gigantic goblet with salsa, avocado and chips on a plate. I have been here numerous times. You never go wrong with anything you order.

Good vegetarian options! Tried the veg pasta and it was very distinct. Not the normal pasta sauce that you generally find every where. Had a tinge of sourness in it which I liked. Less cheese and lot of veggies. The only complain I had was the bread served with it was a normal sandwich wheat bread that you find in regular grocery stores, would have preferred some better bread. It costed about $ 13 + tip + tax if I remember correctly. The lady taking the order and serving was working like a super-woman. They were short of staff and she was doing everything on her own(except cooking, obviously!). She was simply amazing. All in all, amazing place to eat good food with an ocean view on CA1.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but God dam. You get 3 dollars worth of food for 15. I got a plate with 6 calimari, 6! Apple pie was over microwaved. Not impressed

I stopped in at the Davenport café before starting on my long drive back to the city. It was far less crowded than the whale city bakery next door, with the kind of quiet atmosphere I was looking for. I ordered the Barrel breakfast burrito. A solid, hearty meal but nothing to write home about. The service was friendly and I only waited 10 mins for my order. Walking across the patio however, there was a bad smell when I got close to the restroom. It was obvious it hadn’t been cleaned in a while and nobody seemed to care. Management should pay attention to the impression this can make on customers. Would’ve given this place 4 stars if it wasn’t for the restroom.

Stopped here for some lunch before heading to the beach and ended up pretty impressed. This is a nice little place with a display case filled with amazing looking desserts. It was very tempting but my boyfriend and I ordered the Captain’s Platter which was pretty much fish and chips. It consisted of fried calamari, cod and fries. The flavor was great but it was a little too fishy for my bf. I enjoyed it but I love fish!
