I really wanted to like… but service was slow not servers fault, just under staffed I think. I wish the heavy mozzeralla chese would be limited and replace with real tasty cheese… I know, Mozz is cheap… but tasteless… grew up Italian with Mom and Nonna, they would both roll over in their grave… c’mon now. food needs a new chef… A good Italian onw would be nice. sauces need a more authenic /good quality tasting. I suggest a road trip to La Doche in Lemont for real Italian cuisine… sorry

I don’t understand why this restaurant doesn’t have a line out the door. Delicious, authentic food with a nice ambiance. A very nice bar, too!

Friendly good service, I order egg plant Parmesan at every new Italian restaurant I go to, theirs on a scale of 1 – 5 was a 2. The egg plant was too tough and hardly any cheese on it, not sure if I will try it again.

If I had an Italian grandma who could make Chicken Francese like this place my life might have turned out differently, but I’m German, and picky about how I like things done, so I order chicken Francese from here and it is delicious! Perfectly egg washed butterflyed chicken breast sauteed in butter/olive oil, with a delicate parm parsley coating. Garlic, lemon flavor is abundant but not overpowering. Served on al dente angel hair pasta with a crisp small romaine salad on the side. Geneous portions of food! Bread was so so, not exactly fresh. Overall, a good find for well made Italian food in the burbs. Friendly and accommodating service too.

Second visit, and was happy I went. It sit discretely in a strip mall, so jeep an eye out. This time we tried the grilled asparagus, which was perfectly dressed with a tomato mix. The chicken Vesuvio was excellent, but the penne con salcicia was hum-drum. Service was attentive, but it was early. I’d go back a third time.

So we were seated at 7:25pm and greeted at 7:32 where we ordered our calamari appetizer. That arrived at 8:00pm. Our dinner was ordered at 7:45pm. It’s now 8:11. Not doing good so far. 1 waiter for 20 tables is not what I call adequate. Looking around, all tables are ready to leave or just finishing there dinner. What a slow kitchen! Now it’s 8:16pm and food is still not here. Just got main entrée at 8:21pm. I ordered the Zuppa De Mare(calamari, shrimp, mussels, scallops, clams and fish). The fish is horrible, tastes really fishy. Shrimp was tough and over cooked, scallops and calamari were ok. Mussels and clams over cooked. My wife had the 8 finger pasta, no taste at all to it and my sons spaghetti and meat balls were horrible. We won’t becoming back! Told the waiter about the fish, he took it away and didn’t come back. Hostess asked how dinner was and I said mine wasn’t very good and she said sorry and walked away.

Sorry, but I won’t be going back there… My wife had to asked a few times for a place setting. The first time she asked the owner grunted something to the only waitstaff that he had working. When our meals were ready to be served, they sat in the serving window. After a few minutes, the chef took them back into the kitchen. The owner and waitstaff(yes, both of them) were outside watering their plants and flowers. The place wasn’t packed. In fact, when we were seated, there was only one couple in the restaurant. For the price of their meals, they should include salad and soup, in which they didn’t. The food was okay, not the best. My wife told the owner that we had a coupon for $ 30.00 off. He looked at it like he didn’t know what is was; told us just to take the $ 30 off of the bill. He did that, but he took it off the total amount, not the food total. We still got stuck paying the tax on the full amount, not the discounted amount.

We found this restaurant on Unilocal and will be back. Very, very authentic Italian bistro! The waiter was Italian and even the bus staff. We had the eggplant lasagna, Caesar salads and the manicotti. Everything was delicious! Home made pasta and incredible sauces! The service was old school and food amazing! I had the house Chianti, very nice. Followed it up with spumoni and two doggie bags.

Food was ok, they advertise gluten free but the waitress told me she had no clue what gluten was and the owner appeared to know just as much. Food was average, service was slow and we were passed up several times by the server. They brought out the wrong dish for my mother, never apologized just told her to wait longer. Good thing I had a groupon because paying full price would have sucked

It was okay, not the best, not the worst. We were promptly greeted when we walked in and shown to a nice table. Granted, it is in a strip mall and your view is of the parking lot, but it was a nice table, not on top of others but close to the next table. At least I could easily get out. In looking around the room, I think this might have been a Mexican restaurant in a previous life, just the feel of the room. You enter in the bar area and the dining room is separate. Sausage and peppers were way too spicy for me to eat. The bread was good, not warm, but fresh. We tried the chicken Florentine and the chicken Parmesan for our entrees. Since we are not fans of angel hair pasta or spaghetti, we did have a special request for rigatoni. The only choice was marinara sauce which has a whoooooooooooooole lot of tomatoes. I would have preferred the option of meat sauce and at least half of the tomatoes, but it was our first visit. It got crowded in a hurry because it is very small, about 20 tables. There is also outdoor seating, but again, you are sitting in the parking lot. Our server was excellent and very attentive.

The food was amazing! Had the chicken parmesan and the boyfriend had the cavaletti pasta. Might have spelled that wrong. Portions are huge! I even enjoyed the bread they put out it was so fresh and warm. The place is a small local dingy little spot but I did not care as I went there for food and was not disappointed! Service was a little slow but we never had to wait long for refills plus you have so much food to eat what more could you need from your server? I would recommend trying this spot out!

My main experience with La Notte Due is with their lunch buffet. It is always fresh, they change up the selections frequently and the service is almost always good. I’ve been here for dinner once or twice, and as I recall it was fine. I actually look forward to having business in the area so I have an excuse to eat here.

A friend of mine used a voucher for us to dine here for dinner last week. It was on a Thursday night. She called in advance asking if we needed reservations and was told we’d be ok, and we were. We were given a bread basket for starters along with oil and fresh parmesan cheese. We also ordered two appetizers. They don’t have a drinks menu, but we knew we’d have to hit $ 100 to use our voucher so we had a few glasses of wine to go with dinner. Two of us(myself included) ordered the 8 finger cavatelli with vodka sauce, I believe it’s titled«8 finger vodka» on the menu, and the other two in our party ordered salmon. My dinner was delicious… no complaints from me! The service was decent too… all around nice place. I’d visit here again.

This was a pleasant surprise. We tried it because we had a buy-one-dinner-get-one-free coupon, and it was simple, quiet and nice. I had the Marsala trio(veal, chicken and shrimp on angel hair pasta), and my wife had manicotti. Good and satisfying. And we ordered soup and salad separately because they weren’t included with the entrees, but the manager(owner?) comped them to us for free! That was very nice of him. The location is nothing exciting(strip mall), but in some ways, the atmosphere is better than more popular restaurants that are louder and more crowded. And I like supporting mom and pop restaurants. Not busy or rushed, with a leisurely pace that still let us get to our show on time. And as we were leaving, the manager came running out to let me know I had forgotten my iPad! Bonus points for good customer service.

We had a fantastic meal there two weeks ago. The service was great and we didn’t feel rushed. Very European feel. Food portions were very large and we each brought some home. After our waiter brought the bill, he served each of us a complementary Limoncello! WHAT a treat!

The Dude had a Groupon for La Notte Due, so we trekked over to Darien. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was busy, which was a good sign. The ambience was great, very intimate with lots of candlelight. Right off the bat, we experienced the cardinal sin of Italian restaurants — the bread wasn’t homemade. It was just a sliced loaf of Italian bread, the stuff you can buy in the grocery store. What the what? Still, I wasn’t ready to give up on the place. I ordered homemade eight-finger pasta with broccoli and Italian sausage. It was delicious and the portion was big, but not huge. I still had enough to take home for a second meal. The Dude had the eggplant parmigana and enjoyed it, but it wasn’t his favorite. We also had two tiny shots of limoncello and almost had a heart attack when we saw on the bill that they they were $ 6 each! I shudder to think of what a limoncello on the rocks would have cost us. Overall, it was a nice dinner and the restaurant is lovely, but it doesn’t really stand out in the crowded Italian restaurant market in Chicago.

The food was pretty good, but there was a sewer smell that was more than a little off-putting. I might consider going back for a 2d visit, but being that Darien is about a 30-minute drive from my home, it is unlikely.

Delicious food & great service pretty much sum up this little gem. It is hidden in a little strip mall that I drove by almost every day… next to a bakery and a liquor store that I never noticed either! Of course, bread and oil with parmesan cheese start your meal This was our third or fourth visit & I have yet to be disappointed. This time, I ordered the pork oreganato and it was delish! It has this lemony yumminess(I think I just made up that word) that just speaks to you. Give them a try, I am sure you will not be disaapointed.
