J. Dicus Landscape & Pool Construction

Working withJo Dicus was probably the closest thing to a scam that I have been part of. He did our landscaping about a year and a half ago. There are so many things I could list that made me feel this way… But I don’t have that much time.
#1. He substituted many plants and trees that were on our design (which he bid from) for other varieties which were less expensive– and in many cases smaller. When I pointed out the ones I noticed, he just played dumb and then had them replaced.
#2. He got paid at certain points in the project. Ie: drainage start, sprinkler start, plants and flowers arrived, lighting start, etc. So… What he did was pretty much start everything one after another. He didn’t finish #1 before he started #2 and then started #3 before #1 or #2 were done, etc. It took me a while to catch on, but then I felt like I had to micromanage him the entire time. I didn’t trust him at all. The plants he ordered sat out in 100 degree weather for a few days. He never came to water them, so I did. He finally planted everything and was finished.
Over the different seasons last year plants died, areas of the landscape flooded, there were dry patches on the grass where the sprinkler didn’t get to, etc.
Joe was rude and didn’t follow up on emails or phone calls. I would have sued him, but frankly… I didn’t want that bad energy. I had it taken care of by someone else and I did a lot of the re-​planting of stuff myself.
I feel much better now that I was able to share what a horrible experience it was.

We had the pleasure of working with Joe and his crew on a major backyard renovation project. Joe is a rarity when it comes to contractors. He is responsive, accountable and professional. His crew of guys were first class and hard working. We are extremely pleased with the final product and will work with Joe again when it’s time to renovate our front yard. We highly recommend working with J. Dicus Landscape to neighbors, family or friends.
