After a long hiatus, I decided to come back to Great Impasta for dinner takeout. Its a pretty small and casual spot in Danville Livery, but they offer a sizable menu with endless mix-and-match pasta/sauce/protein/veggie combinations. They also offer wine, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. You also have the option of getting the pasta as a hot, ready-to-eat entrée, or as a cook-at-home version. I ordered two pastas, and between the two I would say 4-stars average. Rigatoni with chicken apple sausage, mushrooms, and tomato sauce was 5-stars! Soft rigatoni and good ratio of sauce. I had the fresh grated cheese on the side, but I wound up adding most of it since it elevated the dish. Linguine with clams and Olio(lemon, olive oil, garlic) was a lighter dish I got for the wife. Clams and pasta were good, and the sauce if you mix it up well had a nice, subtle lemony taste. However, I found the pasta a bit under-seasoned — not sure whether they boiled it with enough salt since the sauce was too light here. 3 stars. Maybe better to add in more of that fresh grated cheese! Definitely will come back — portions are enormous and I do like the sheer variety here.

Food is top notch! As a long time patron, I am finally doing a review on the service. Usually fantastic, however the owner has a new girlfriend who is the co-worker. On Friday, my mom and I got to enjoy watching the pair play«tonsil hockey» and«canoodle» all thru our lunch… super gross!

As a new resident to this area I’ve been searching for a new go to spot. looks like this is it! I can’t get enough of their caesar salad. The romaine is crispy and fresh the dressing is perfect and they top it off with house made croutons and fresh grated parm. Can’t go wrong with any of their pastas… all the sauces and toppings are really good. Their minestrone is probably the best I’ve ever had it goes perfect with a salad. I’ll definitely have to go back to try some of their sandwiches… I recommend this place highly

I’ve been going to this restaurant for about 15 years. The service and food are always top notch. I strongly recommend the daily soup specials. Everything is great but the soup is exceptional.

I ordered lasagna and a chicken artichoke pasta dish for a group dinner at my house. Both dishes had so much sauce I should have eaten the lasagna with a spoon. I called and didn’t get much satisfaction from the manager. I will never order from them again.

We just stopped randomly at this place on a Friday evening. We had a Meat Homemade Lasagna which was awesome. It has all fresh flavors! The bread they served with it is so soft and freshly baked. Loved it and will visit again!

The five-star rating goes to the Caesar Salad. Usually people order pasta from a pasta place, but I order Caesar Salad if the option is there. This unique Caesar Salad dressing is lighter than most. It has a hint of garlic with an acidic tang. You can clearly see that there are whole mustard seeds, which adds some texture to the dressing. Unfortunately, if you are an anchovy and black pepper lover, you’ll be disappointed. I, myself am a lover of both… Although this dressing lacked the salty flavors and spice from the coarse black pepper, it was still a delicious Caesar Salad. The large croutons are probably the best I’ve ever had and that says a lot! They were garlicky, herby, and just plain ol’ tasty! The portion size for a full order can feed two(or one hungry me). It’s a very very generous portion. If for the next time I visit… I order a full portion and they give me a container with only a cup of salad and the rest of the container filled with croutons… I’d be more than okay with that. Looking over the pasta menu, all of their combinations sound delicious. I’ll definitely be going back and this time I’ll be adventurous in trying one of them.

Awesome, you can put together just about any pasta/sauce dish you want. They also have great salads and meals to go. Relaxed low key atmosphere and great pricing.

I always go in here when I want pasta and it’s a tier above anything else around the are. It’s a little bit pricy but well worth it in my opinion

We are so lucky to have Great Impasta so close to us. Numerous times they have saved me with a great last minute meal to bring home. We have had dinner parties of 30 or family parties of 12 and it is always great. I have to say the biggest crowd please lately has been the spinach ravioli with artichoke sauce. It also has been great to take the family meals to friends to save them from cooking too!

Awesome service and even better food. My tortellini and mushroom cream sauce were amazing. My boyfriend loved the four cheese sauce on his pasta. They have a huge menu with a little bit of everything and endless combinations, large portions too. The man at the counter who took our order was very helpful and friendly, he had a smile on his face for every customer. Keep up the great work, we will definitely be back soon!

What a pleasant surprise! Came here on a whim with my daughter and niece and nephew and had low expectations(think Rigatoni’s in Dublin). This a casual eatery, you order at the counter, grab utensils and seat yourself. Cashier was friendly and patient. I ordered the shrimp olio and it was delish! Serving was huge with an abundance of mushroom and artichoke. The shrimps were super tiny but still fine, not fishy. My daughter got the gnocchi with cream sauce and she found it very satisfying. We both agreed we’d come back again!

This place brings back great childhood memories. I used to come here for dinner after preschool which was practically right across the street. Even now the pasta is delish and the food amazing. Their ravioli is the best. It is so delicious and it’s the best ravioli I’ve tasted so far.

My friend has been begging me to go somewhere with pasta, but of course I have celiac disease and a dairy allergy so this has always been hard for me to find. After doing some serious researching I read previous reviews about Great Impasta and it seemed to have good reviews in regards to gluten free safety. I called and spoke to a man who informed me I have nothing to worry about. All of their sauces are gluten free and all the red sauces are dairy free and that I have nothing to worry about. They had supposedly been doing this a long time and know how to avoid cross contamination. I was happy with his responses and decided to come in. We walked in and the man I spoke to on the phone is the one who took our order. He assured me again it would all be okay. I ended up getting the gluten free penne with spicy marinara and grilled chicken. Mine was $ 10.99 and then to add grilled chicken it was $ 3.00 so total was $ 13.99. Keep in mind this is a place you walk up and order so it is kind of pricey in that aspect. Then to get your food they call out your name and you come pick it up. We walked up to get our food after just waiting a few minutes and my friend got bread as well which came with it. Our pasta plates were big and hearty, but pasta is one of the cheapest dishes you can make, but I felt it was quite pricey. I wasn’t sick at all though and I am very sensitive so I feel like they really are good about cross contamination. He did tell me they have separate water and utensils for the gluten free pasta so that was very assuring. I would give this place five stars if it was a sit down restaurant, but it was just too pricey for a walk up style place. The food was good though so I will be back.

I haven’t eaten at the restaurant but I have gotten takeout several times and it’s excellent. The meat lasagne is especially delicious, and very filling. The meatballs are also great. I have a couple of the sauces in my freezer to try next. What I like most about it is that you can have company and serve a home-cooked meal, but you don’t have to make it! I’m not a cook so it’s sometimes hard to have guests without completely stressing about the dinner. But this time, I just added my own salads, bread and dessert, and everyone loved it. Plus, I had tons of leftovers. Will definitely be buying my meals for guests here in the future!

Had lunch here to go based in Unilocal reviews, we weren’t disappointed. Thanks Unilocalers! We were in town for a soccer tournament and since the boys were playing two soccer games a day they needed protein and carbs to get them through, hence we turned to The Great Impasta. It was so good we took orders to go from here on both Sat and Sun for the Soccer tournament. As a To Go order we purchased Chicken Caesar Salad, Chicken Avocado Sandwich, Angel Hair Pasta with the marinara+Alfredo sauce called Pink and a side of their garlic bread on both days The Chicken Caesar Salad was loaded with Chicken, crispy fresh lettuce, yummy seasoned homemade croutons, Parmesan cheese and yummy dressing. It was a big salad and very refreshing on a hot day. Chicken Avocado Sandwich was flavorful, fresh tasting on a French roll. It came with a side salad. My husband was humming as he took a pause from his satisfying sandwich The Angel Hair Pasta was gobbled up by my athlete before I could take a picture. He said he loved it and that it was really good. We all enjoyed the garlic cheesy bread, I loved the chunks of garlic on the bread. We devoured it! Andrew, I believe, was the manager on Saturday and he was extremely helpful in suggesting items and packed up our Togo order with napkins and plastic utensils. Stop here for a nice lunch or take it to go and eat it at Osage or Sycamore Parks.

This is a bit of an overdue review, since I first visited here in December, using a coupon from the Entertainment book. Conveniently located in the Danville Livery, there is plenty of lot parking and well situated to have lunch at if you are in the San Ramon/Danville area. During my December visit, it was dinner time-I opted for the grilled veggie sandwich and pasta salad-portions are HUGE! I recall the veggies being well seasoned and tasty. The pasta salad is turbo pasta salad! Tortellini, spiral pasta, artichoke, letttuce and some amazingly delicious dressing. A «side» of the pasta salad is a meal in itself. I came here yesterday for lunch and I highly recommend just cozying up to a cup or bowl of their amazing homemade soup. Their tomato soup is my all time favorite-it seems to be cream based, but who’s counting calories on something that yummy. You get fresh bread to accompany your soup and there are also half salad and half soup combos you can get. So, yup, I splurged on their wonderful pasta salad. I had plenty of salad leftovers for lunch again today so worth the $ 10.99 lunch price. Atmosphere is casual, but cramped. I’d avoid going during the lunch rush. I went with a coworker at 1:15 and we found seating. Lots of outdoor tables though in the right weather. I believe the owner himself is at the register taking orders and he’s friendly and seems to have a lot of pride in his business. Prices can be construed as high, but to get the larger portions coupled with what I consider to be top quality ingredients and freshly made, you are getting your money’s worth. Oh, and don’t worry, my team and I already have it on our work Outlook calendars to come back here next Tuesday. More tomato soup please!
