This is a nice treat for the greater Beckley area. I will admit I was not keen on The Dish Café when it first opened but they have grown and nailed down their menu. I am a fan of local places so I go here when I can. Those passing through even though it is a mile or two out of the way stop here! Seriously get some good food in your belly and see a cool local place before you regret that fast food cheeseburger, hate your life, and have to stop at every rest area on your way. go go go.

On recommendation of John, my server, tried the Shrimp & polenta and Avocado brownie. Both were very good suggestions! Thanks John! Creamy cheesy sauce on the polenta, shrimp was grilled with the perfect spices. And as others have said, the avocado brownie great. Can’t wait to return and try more from their menu.

My third visit and u finally found the worlds best slaw. I so wish I hadn’t forgotten the name of the slaw but it was amazing! Great avocado brownie and the burger(with slaw and egg) was remarkable! If traveling, stop by. It’s only 3 – 4 minutes off if the interstate. Finally, my server(don’t recall his name) was terrific. He knew the ins and out of the menu as well as how it was cooked.

Another trip to the Dish on our way home from vacation. Everything from the pimento cheese pretzel appetizer, grilled cheese entrée and avocado brownie were terrific. Service was spot on.

Shocking… had the Moscow Mule drink, pretzels for appetizer, and chicken parm for entrée. Amazing! As simple as a meal as it was… ONEOFTHEBEST meals I’ve ever had!!! Service was amazing and food and drinks to die for. The Pretzels and cheese was so rich and unique! The spag sauce was delicious and the chicken, cooked so perfectly! Will visit Daniel’s, WV just to come to this restaurant!

This place is something special. Not only do they have fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals, but their menu is pretty extensive. Their concept of making dishes that highlight how good real food tastes is so important and I’m so glad I now have a go to place. Whenever I travel throughout West Virginia, I always have a hard time finding locally grown or Eco-conscious restaurants, but now I’ll make it a point to come to the Dish! The only constructive feedback I could offer is that the food took a little while to come out, especially since I just ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup, but it was worth the wait!

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! One of my favorite dishes that I will remember for a long time to come. The food was fresh tasting, and the mixture of the different sauces/spice, etc was phenomenal. Including the service. One would think that I had a super unique dish, but I ordered the chicken parmesan, with a side of mac and cheese, and the pimento pretzel appetizer. All was fantastic, though the chicken parm and mac & cheese were both SUPERB!!! The chicken wasn’t breaded and didn’t taste frozen. The noodle weren’t just plain with some marinara on top — they were served in a light cream type sauce that complimented the dish. The mac & cheese was some of the best I ever had — it wasn’t because it was overly cheesy(it wasn’t), but something about the way the cheese blended with the pasta… AH! Surprise to find such delicious food in such a random town. MUST try if you’re ever lucky enough to be in the area.

Unbelievable. Some of the best I’ve had. All ingredients are super fresh. Chicken Parm and Shrimp over Polenta was phenomenal. You have to try the homemade pretzels and pimento cheese spread.

It’s nice to know there’s a place out I 64 for all those folks to have the real food, farm to table experience. I would call this American food; steak, shrimp with polenta, salmon, a couple burgers, etc. It’s all done very, very well and if I move out to Shady Spring or somewhere close I will be here frequently. Also, they have TVs at all booths, so if you want to put on Spongebob for the kids and keep the volume down they will be more than happy to not raise six kinds of hell during dinner. Better than average kid’s menu as well.

Making the run back from St Louis to DC and was sick of the options right off the interstate. Trust me, this place is well worth the extra 2 miles. We got the sweet and savory salad and the falafel sand which. Everything was good. We ended up getting some desserts too, and I ordered the avocado brownie because Unilocal told me it was the best — it was ok. More cakey than I prefer. Next time I’m road tripping, I’ll be back!

Took the advice of a traveler on Unilocal and ventured a few miles off our path and am so glad we did. No words can describe just how good the food is here. I would drive here from Upper Sandusky, OH just to eat. It’s that good. Our server was awesome… Atmosphere was great… Well worth it no matter where you are. Only found two places in the U.S. that I would travel specifically to to eat and that’s ORO’s in San Antonio and this place

My new best friend Ashley T was«Spot On» in her review. This is a one-of-a-kind restaurant rount’ Cheeauh’. If you are looking for«FRESH» in all the subtle meanings of the word this is it. This is not your Granny’s Cracker Barrel. Beckley is placed in a world where you dig up stuff like ginseng root and sell it; you don’t consume it. This is a place where off campus you can count on your fingers and toes the number of people that can pronounce quinoa and even fewer who actually eat it. But if you can pronounce it and eat it, you’ll love this place. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll eat ramps and drink pot licker with the best. And I know the true meaning of stump-broke. And yes I can make fun of my people too. But if you want a taste of the other side give this place a try and save yourself a plane ride to Berkeley. You’ve got a tiny taste of Alice Water’s Chez Panisse right here. And it’s great!

When you find a place with reasonable prices, a diverse menu, and a commitment to using only fresh, quality local ingredients, it’s worth a try. When it is worthwhile, you go back because it is never a bad idea to support local business, much less one that supports so many other local businesses. When you find one as good as The Dish, you say goodbye to your disposable income and resign yourself to the fact that you’ll be seeing a lot of those people. The service is quick, friendly, and knowledgeable. The décor is new, clean, and lit perfectly for a relaxing experience. The area is easily accessible and spacious. But I’ve been to plenty of places that can be described in that manner, yet served food that was subpar on its good days. The Dish is just the opposite. As it should be, the food is so good that the environment fades as soon as your plates hit the table. The Caprese flatbread features fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and baby spinach with a Balsamic reduction glaze. The Balsamic reduction is executed perfectly, with a touch of sweetness lingering, which suggests that there is just a bit of the local honey mixed in. The flatbread itself is made to order, every time, and is made with organic flour and agave nectar. Yes, such things just cry out ‘hipster’ because of the current climate… but who cares when it tastes that good? Because it’s made to order, every time, a flatbread of any kind is at least fifteen minutes but well worth the wait. Considering the ample size, high quality, and ingredient selection, the $ 8.99 price tag is more than fair. The Chipotle Chicken Pita is another winner, and comes with a side item, for which I chose a simple but good baked potato. The size of the pita is considerable, with a large grilled chicken breast covered in pepper jack cheese and a chipotle aioli. I would have preferred the chicken breast sliced, but serving it in tact does not detract from the quality. The star of the show is the chipotle aioli, creamy, rich, and just the right amount of heat to accent but not overpower the rest of the dish. $ 9.99 for the pita and one side is a bargain, especially in light of the fact that the baked potato alone is $ 3.99, which is one of the few prices on the menu that will make you raise an eyebrow. For an appetizer, there is not a better value than the homemade kettle chips. The plate is stacked with the thick, salty, and freshly prepared chips, which come with a side of what is some of the best homemade ranch dressing I’ve ever tasted, all for $ 1.99. This visit was around lunch time, with a less than full house and none of the entrees as part of my order, but there will be a return visit for dinner, and another appetizer or two to sample, in the very near future(and another review to follow). From top to bottom, it’s a place that leaves you full and smiling, and wondering how anxious customers aren’t lined up out the door and around the corner. Most of all, The Dish is an excellent reminder that the flavor of freshness is undeniable.

My sister and I returned to the Dish Café on our way home determined to have dessert this time! Although we had initially resolved to split an entrée so we’d have room for dessert, we arrived very hungry so both ordered the black bean burger and fries. I order a lot of veggie burgers since I’m a vegetarian and the Dish Café’s ranks right near the top! The wonderful blend of flavors, good texture, flatbread«bun», and avocado took it to the next level. Delicious! The fries were also good but my sister and I managed to leave a great majority of them uneaten in anticipation of dessert. Oh the dessert! We had the Avocado Brownie and Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce. Both were excellent — fresh and full of flavor! Kathryn S. was our excellent server — friendly and attentive. We only wish we travelled this way more often. Get off the freeway and enjoy a wonderful meal at the Dish Café in Daniels, West Virginia!

This is our first time here and it was a decent experience for me and my friend… our server Crystal was excellent! Cheese fries were delicious! Better than the typical run of the mill… friend had bbq flatbread and she liked it ok… kettle chips were good… I had the special bone in ribeye and it was sent back 2 times because it was not well done… but finally I got to eat it and it was so tender and flavorful! Better than any steakhouse around. We both had peanut butter pie and it was just right… not too rich and sweet… Owner gave me my pie for free for waiting… I will return… nice atmosphere as well.

Thank you Unilocal!Every single thing that we ordered was absolutely delicious. There’s a reason for the pricier burgers– the meat is top quality and one of them has an egg on it! It’s absolutely to die for. Hot fresh coffee, house made deserts, this is going to be our go-to stop in the Beckley area. And our waitress was a doll!

To be fair, I ordered to-go and did not eat in so I can’t vouch for that experience. I got the chipotle chicken wrap(sooo good) and the avocado brownie. The brownie came with a little container of hot fudge and fresh raspberries(fancy!). The waitress was sweet and and the to-go packaging was recycled. Wins all around.
