ChucksSteakhouse in Danbury has been In Danbury CTas long as I have lived in the area which is over 37 +years. My wife and I have eaten their some where north of 100 times. I usually get the strip steak, and I have never had a bad one. The fries are the best! The salad bar is great. I can not figure a average 3. you would have to go to Ruth Chris in West Chester to get a better steak and pay 25−30% more. They never advertise yet are always crowded I would suggest that they are getting mostly return customers. I just had to add my two cents. Their Burgers are also excellent! JoeB Newtown, CT.

I have eaten here for probably 25 or so years. I ordered my favorite swordfish steak tonight & it was horrendous. I never return anything ever but it was obvious that this swordfish steak was processed & terribly frost burnt. I was really disappointed. The salad bar was a++ as always though.

I went here last week for a holiday party and had a horrible experience. First the waitstaff was not present enough. Was only able to order 2 drinks the entire night. When I went to the bar for faster service, they said I would have to pay for the drink and he couldn’t add it to the party account which was open bar. Then when it was time to order my food I decided to go with the steak(made sense as it was a steak house). I ordered medium well, but it came back rare(I added a picture)! Definitely not medium well… I wouldn’t even say it was medium rare :(because it was a larger party, I didn’t want to send it back and be that person. Then, my fiancé ordered chicken… and they missed his order. Again, understandable when there are large groups… but he didn’t get it until about 15 min later. Every single person in the place finished their meal before he even got his :(

The worst steakhouse I ever ate at. You need to see what they call a salad bar. Ordered a shrimp cocktail the shrimp were dry. Dry how are shrimp dry? The steak was horrible, I mean horrible.

Came here for lunch today with my Mother. Got the soup and unlimited salad special for $ 9.00! Salad bar was wonderful and so was the soup. Everything was fresh and made at the restaurant. The staff is friendly and personable. What a nice treat. I will definitely be coming back again.

So, Chuck’s has been around for ever! Like 40 plus years! Some of the folks that work there have been there since they opened! I hadn’t been to Chuck’s in some time! So, we decided to take my Mom out for dinner. She was looking forward to prime rib! Not much has changed at Chuck’s…which is mostly good! The food was very good, prepared and cooked nicely. The team was nice, efficient and eager to please. I guess Chuck’s is a predictable staple worth the trip for any where in eastern NY and western CT. Good job guys! Give my best to Wes & Hank, two of the olé timers at Chuck’s!

Its a tradition, when I was a kid and I am 58 now, but my Dad would pack us in the station wagon and we would head off to Danbury, for Chucks Steakhouse. Back then the menu was on a stoneware jug. It has grown to a numerous page menu, but the food remains absolutely the same as always. The homemade bread, massive salad bar, and juicy steak still is the standard culinary tasteful tradition. The waitstaff is courteous and out to please you. We make it a special visit at least once a month to visit, even though we live in the Litchfield county area of Connecticut, it takes us 45 minutes to get there, but good things come to those who can wait for an awesome MEAL! People it is worth a visit to enjoy a Great meal !!!

We went for an early bird dinner at 4 pm on Sunday. Somewhat unsurprisingly, we were seated quickly and our large party had drinks and menus in hand within fifteen minutes. The service staff was very nice, good attention to detail. The majority of my party enjoyed the varied salad bar, while I was treated to an abundance of bleu cheese on my wedge salad. The steamed clams appetizer was well received(tip — get some bread from the salad bar to mop up the broth. On member of my party opined it’s the best steamer brother around). Most of my party ordered stead, and despite the fact they took up most of the plates only one person left with a doggy bag. I broke ranks and have the broiled scrod — well cooked and flaky, the seafood stuffing was good too with the onions chopped a little too big for my personal taste. I would definitely come here again for another family dinner!

Went to Chuck’s on a Thursday around 6 pm. The place was not busy and we got a table under the glass extension. The restaurant was very dark with little light, the furniture was also dark, and I was glad to be sitting where there was some day light. We ordered some soft drinks and then opened the menu… well surprise, surprise, the choices were pretty good, but the prices were quite high. For example, the steak with sea scallops was $ 35. We read through the menu to the last page and found the early bird specials that were a little bit cheaper, but not by much. It is interesting that all one gets with your order is a piece of meat with your choice of potatoe. No veggies are offered at all. What is supposed to be your vegetables was the salad bar. Needless to say the salad bar was very small… it looked big, but had the same item choices on either side. I got a small salad with a piece of bread. The only bread that was offered before, during, or after the meal. The meal tasted good, so can not say it wasn’t, but it also did not taste any better than what I can make at home! In the future, I might go back, but it will not be my first choice! I took some pictures too.

Really disappointed with how little you receive for the HIGH prices. We picked up take-out from Chuck’s and ordered the teriyaki chicken thinking that for a meal that was almost $ 20 you would get more than just the chicken but nope it was literally JUST the chicken. They did not offer utensils since we were taking to-go nor did they even give us bread and butter just the chicken. Never going back.

Chuck’s always provides a top quality dining experience that’s worth the wait. Probably one of the best salad bars in the area and their steaks have always been on the money during our many visits. Although known for steaks, their oysters get two thumbs up for an appetizer. Have never been disappointed at this eatery!

We were there on a Thursday evening around 7 p.m. We didn’t have a reservation but it was no problem to get a table for two. It is a cosy place, it was my 3rd time I went there. We got a table close to the fireplace — for my side — as always :) The country-style furniture fits perfectly to the place’s style and location. The service staff is very professional. We ate a T-Bone steak each of us(16 oz.) — very good, and not too pricey. The beer was good. I will definitely go there again when I stay next time in Danbury.

Food was excellent. If I went by the reviews on Unilocal about the salad bar I wouldn’t have got it. Salad Bar was great hubby went back twice. I had the early bird special scallops entrée it was delicious. Our waiter was excellent I think his name was Eric he had a great personality.

Salad bar! I came here for a big private event so I can’t really review the overall restaurant but I was happy with the experience. Good service, good food. Really like the salad bar — I would come back just for that. For dinner I had prime rib with baked potato which was cooked nicely and very tasty. I think next time I will try the NY strip — less fat to fight through. Did I mention the salad bar?

Chuck’s is a longstanding steakhouse very close to the Danbury Fair Mall in Connecticut that serves good food in an old school atmosphere. Think dark carpet, wood paneling, etc. Don’t let the décor dissuade you from visiting however. We had a very lovely meal overall and no disappointments. Oysters on the ½ shell were fresh, calamari fried well and not chewy at all. Salad bar was constantly refreshed and my husband’s steak was cooked well and I very much enjoyed the stuffed shrimp. We had zero room for dessert, so I can’t comment on that aspect of the meal. If you think you’ll be visiting a steakhouse like the ones in NYC or even White Plains, you’ll be disappointed, but if you visit knowing this, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Especially when the bill arrives. As a heads up, they don’t take reservations but WILL do a call ahead. Call Chuck’s before you go and you’ll be added to the list and it’ll help alleviate some, if not all the wait.

Food was so so but very different in every way from Darien. My chicken teriyaki was pink inside and had to go back. The fries were greasy battered style not the nice dry crinkle steak fries like Darien. The salad bar was fresh but croutons were store bought and not like Darien. The best part was that they charge $ 3.50 for a side of rice or fries with a $ 17.00 chicken meal. Place was quite crowded and always appears that way. We likely will not be back next time in that town but we saw it while running errands.

Had a great Christmas Eve dinner at Chuck’s Steak House this evening. It was my daughters birthday, so, it was a special evening, and I wanted everything perfect. Last year I went there and is was terrible, for the sized party I had there. I have been at Chuck’s many times with smaller groups, and the food and service was great. It’s one of my daughters favorite restaurant. This evening was no exception. The food and service was outstanding, and, the course selection was great. We all had a terrific time, and enjoyed our dinner. Great going to Chucks, nice job this evening, and, it made my daughters birthday dinner very special.

I’m looking at the reviews posted for Chuck’s and I feel like I’m on another planet than the one these reviewers are on. I was there with a large party, and for whatever reason, they didn’t add a large party tip onto our collective bill, which I thought was unusual. I’d recommend they do that going forward. It protects the server, who was actually quite good and responsive. While I wouldn’t call it gourmet, it’s a steakhouse. It has steakhouse food. The food was solidly prepared. I had prime rib with stuffed shrimp and it was exactly right. I ordered it rare and it was rare. The shrimp were juicy and the stuffing was excellent. I also had a half dozen blue point oysters to start off which were fresh and tasty. I didn’t eat from the salad bar, but the folks at my table did and what they had looked really fresh and good. What I’m wondering is in what world is Chuck’s expensive for a steakhouse? Apparently none of these reviewers have been to Morton’s, The Palm, Smith and Wollensky or the like, because, uh, they’re TWICE the price(or more) of Chuck’s. In fact, if Chuck’s were any less expensive, I’d be much more concerned that their meat was not fresh or in some way subpar and it was not. Peeps, if you can’t afford the price of admission, go elsewhere. For my money, that was a pretty fierce meal at a great price.

What a disappointing dinner! I have celebrated my B-day here 2 years ago and loved it! Last night vs. then was like day vs. nIte ! We know it’s a bit pricey but good food is worth it, This time my time wasn’t worth it. The experience was so miserable! One half of the salad bar was Missing! My stuffed shrimp was like stove top stuffing on top of rock shrimp ! Is was overcooked and served Sloppy, they also claim it’s crabmeat stuffing, that’s a lie, written only to sound good when ur reading the menu! The linguini marinara was a separate side dish that was tasteless! No seasoning to the marinara no salt added to the pasta! Very Boring! My BF had the NY strip which I thought tasted really good, he says he was disappointed but I think at the very start he was let down because of the salad bar missing an entire side ! He went as far as saying We will Never come back Here! Mind u he loves the salad bar restaurants and there aren’t that many around! The 1 thing I did like… as we were leaving the pastry chef Lauren was making chocolate covered balls. She was in action with the chocolate spinning machine, waving a wand and making this really cool treat ! She even offered me one I ate it and they are fantastic ! I can describe the inside like a chocolate ganache very delicate silky creamy taste! Only if I went there for desert I would have left happy!
