Glad this place is up and running again. Probably the best deal for food you can get in 2016 Their prices are great and they give you a lot of food. Where else can you get rice plates for around $ 5 after tax. Tony is always great always friendly with a smile. For anyone expecting amazing food at very low prices be more realistic this is not gourmet chinese food and they don’t charge as it was. Just like any restaurant some dishes are much better than others. Just remember it’s cash only and they are closed Monday’s.

I’ve been looking for a cheap Chinese food place that could replace Tong Kee that closed down this year :( Found this place through Unilocal the prices took me here. The guy that works here is really nice. They had run out of one of the items I wanted to order and he kept on apologizing which I didn’t mind I was probably better off not ordering cream cheese wontons. I ordered sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper pork chops, and beef chow mien all for $ 18 bucks. The food was good not amazing but they do give a lot. So if you want a cheap meal to get full on I would suggest this place.

We were in this area and waiting to purchase the car, found this place on Unilocal.Got 3 items, Mongolian beef, Salt and Pepper pork ribs, and an order of fried rice. Can’t believe the prices on the menu when we saw them, the are mostly $ 4.XX(prices are like from 20 years ago). All 3 items for $ 15. Food came out tasty and it gets busy(around 7 when we arrived). Would definitely come back again.

I love the little hole in the wall. Tony the all around waiter, cashier and server is the most friendliest ever.

I love Wong’s Café. A true hole in the wall with freshly cooked Chinese food, big portions and cheap prices. They even let you pay $ 1 or $ 2 for extra meat. I love that i can get rice plate specials all day long and customize my entrée with beef, chicken or pork fried rice or chow mein. I almost always have left overs since the portions are so big. The guy at the counter is super friendly and nice… he accounts for the full 5 stars because he really is patient with all of my specific requests… no vegetables… sauce on side… etc. One thing to note is they take CASHONLY, but its worth it to stop at the ATM for cash because the food is good, the price is right and I appreciate their quick and friendly service.

Ever been to a Chinese restaurant with a «GRANDOPENING» banner hanging in front and you know that banner has been hanging there for years? Yup, this is one of them. But the question is this: Why is this prevalent in Chinese restaurants? I don’t see this in other ethnic restaurants, only Chinese. I guess they want to attract new patrons so they keep the banner hanging; either that or they are too lazy to take it down. I think it’s the former. Anyway, I would recommend this place as a take-out only joint and not for dining in. It’s a decent go-to place for Chinese food when you’re too busy to cook at home, and the prices are ridiculously cheap as hell. It’s not the best Chinese food around, but it’s not bad as well. They actually give you a lot of serving per order, and that is always a plus with two hungry boys at home waiting to be fed. The Fried Rice is actually pretty good and the Scrambled Egg with pick-your-protein is usually our go-to orders since it’ll fill you up plus you get leftovers. Nothing fancy here, just your basic Chinese-American dishes that are cooked and served quickly that are priced very reasonably. So if you’re running late coming home from work and want a quick, cheap, decent Chinese food to go, Wong’s Café is one of those places that you might want to consider. Just look for the«GRANDOPENING» banner hanging out in front.

When looking at Unilocal for dinner suggestions, Hubert suggested Chinese food. And as I LOVE Chinese food and used to eat it ALL the time growing up I jumped at the chance and said yes! However, our favorite Chinese restaurant… «Disappeared» on Unilocal so we decided to find another place. Wongs is what came up with good reviews and I know it’s a hole in the wall, get passed the low hanging ceiling(not a problem for me since I’m a short one) and the exterior of the restaurant. But even just entering I didn’t have a good feeling as it was to me one of the sketchiest Chinese restaurant I’ve been to and I’ve lived in China in a city no one has heard of before. But was redeemed when I heard the workers speaking in Cantonese. We sit, we order. Prices are ridiculously cheap. Half the price most other Chinese restaurants would charge for the same dishes and portions so Hubert and I ordered an extra dish. We had hot and sour soup, beef and broccoli, green beans in Hunan sauce and salt and pepper shrimp. Hot and sour soup– I’ve never seen anything like it. They add weird stuff in it that I have never experienced. Pork, shrimp, tomato, etc. WTF?! It wasn’t for me. Beef and broccoli– so bland. We added salt to it and it was still bland. I can’t believe one can mess this classic Chinese dish up. Sigh Green beans with Hunan sauce– sigh, no spices, no flavor. Again, very disappointing. Salt and pepper shrimp– actually done correctly! The only redeeming dish we had all night! We finished that plate up cause we barely touched anything else! I took the rest home and I’m going to try to correct the dishes myself before attempting to eat the leftovers. When we left and got in the car. Hubert summed it up quite nicely– we are not coming back here again. ALSO, I don’t think we are the demographics they are serving since everyone who came during our meal was. Everything BUT Asian. Hubert and I were the only Asian. And I the only Chinese. Time to keep looking for a new Chinese restaurant for us.

Owners wrote explaining that there was a fire a month ago so they weren’t open when I first tried to patronize them. I appreciate the note and that they care about the reviews people leave. I hope everything works out for them and they can reopen quickly(if they haven’t already).

For the past years that I have been living in the area, Wong’s Café has been my go-to for Chinese takeout. Unfortunately, it seems as they have closed for business or perhaps renovating their place. Either way, I miss my spicy general chicken over fried rice. Won’t you answer my call and take my order? Will ya’ do that for me? I don’t really have anything bad to say about this place, really. Throughout the 30 years of living within the vicinity of this hole in the wall restaurant, I have never been so disappointed that they are no longer open for business – for now at least. My brother is madly in love with the owner’s son, Tony. He often reminisces about how much he misses his noodles and flavorful beef. Things will never be the same. Hahaha, sheeeeeeeeed!!!

Wish they were open every weekday but they are not open on Mondays but its ok I understand everyone needs a break!

The place might fool you from outside. This is hidden gem. The price is ridiculously good. Ordered a combination fried rice for luch today and it is only $ 4.65 + tax!!! Wow. And the taste is great. For Chinese foils is most important is the taste of WOK. You can tell that the cook achieved that. Love this place. Definitely coming back everytime when I am in the area.

Heard from some local Daly City friends that this place was amazing — and they were stunned to hear I hadn’t been since I live a few blocks away. Well finally my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try and we went THREE times in the same week. The prices are affordable. I love the fried rice — plus they give you a ton. We never waited more than 10 minutes for food, and the cashier was incredibly friendly every time. Just found my new favorite hole-in-the-wall Chinese place/quick fix dinner location. Don’t let the outside fool you, folks. This is a hidden gem.

Solid portions and I loved the hot and sour soup, though I could do without the shrimp in it. I also got the Mongolian beef. definitely enough to feed two people, possibly three! it was a steal at $ 10. I tipped $ 3 cause the cashier was really nice. cash only!

My first time here. Hole in the wall but the food is pretty good. The price is even better for the large portions. Great bang for your buck. They were surprisingly busy for a thurs night. The guy taking the order/cashier/server/buser still managed to give a smile. CASH only. The food is not salty, which is good. I ordered the beef oyster sauce with scrambled egg. However, It is not on the menu. I saw it on one of the Unilocal pictures. They have it on the menu for shrimp. They’ll make in beef but you have to ask. The chicken and corn soup is delish! Hot and sour soup is too oily for my taste but still ok. It is not your typical Hot and Sour soup. It has all kinds of food in it such as tomato, beef and shrimp. I’ll come back if I’m ever in the area and in the mood for quick, affordable Chinese food.

Good food, better price. Cash only! The food is what you would expect from basic Chinese and is relatively quick. About 10 – 15 minutes. Perfect for take out. I call in the order and it’s waiting when I get there. :) Not much in the way of ambiance, the inside looks like a garage area converted into a kitchen. Literally. It has a very humble seating area. It’s impressive how there is always the same one guy who literally does everything– he tells the cook(S) the food order and he alone waits, serves, busses, answers the phone. If they don’t answer at first, call again– because of the one guy situation.

Tried their food for the very first time yesterday(Take-Out) my husband went inside to order and he said the guy assuming the owner was really NICE, and friendly. I ordered the sweet & sour pork and their Shrimp over oyster sauce under their special rice plates, and they did not disappoint! It’s really authentic, flavorful, and so good! I feel like it’s eating straight from my mom’s kitchen. SO dee-lish! =P From the outside this place looks worn down and very old, but don’t let that fool you. Their food is outstanding. Their prices are very reasonable too. $ 4 – 5 an entrée. All together we ordered 4 entrees and it was $ 25, which isn’t bad at all. Thanks to this place, this is our official Chinese go-to spot!

As I read through previous reviews, I’m surprised that hardly anyone mentioned the lack of cleanliness. I’ve been here about 4 times but refuse to eat in, I always take out. Yes, the food is dirt cheap, the food itself is decent, but the restaurant itself is pretty filthy. Today we ordered take out and the man in front(who practically does everything; answer calls, takes orders, cleans, waits on tables, etc.) was his usual flustered and stressed out self. As I waited for my food, child accidentally spilled a drink and he begrudgingly marches to the back to get a mop and begins to lecture the kid(in front of her family) that now he’s too busy cleaning up her mess to answer calls or do anything else. After he returns the mop, he walks over to bag my order WITHOUT washing his hands. There isn’t even a bottle of soap near the sink. He works to please the chefs instead of his customers. One time I asked for extra walnuts for my Honey Walnut Prawns and he said«Let me check with the chefs so they don’t get mad at me.» When I received my order, he mentioned that the cooks didn’t want to add extra walnuts(even when I was willing to pay extra). Obviously his priorities concerning customer service is out of whack, because we should be who he’s trying to please and not the cooks. Bottom line: The food is cheap. The restaurant and staff needs to be inspected by a Health Inspector.
