I’m no good at rating tofu houses. This is pretty much like every other Korean place I’ve been to, though it is cool that they have buttons at each table for when you’re ready to order… not that I used it. I ordered the dumpling tofu soup, which was pretty tasty. I got mild because I can’t take spicy all that well, but it still had a kick. The dumplings looked like they were made of tteokbokki, which was especially awesome, because that stuff is fantastic. Price-wise, it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. A lot of other tofu houses will charge more. Service was okay… nothing to write home about. They do serve side dishes which I am guessing are available for purchase in the Kukje deli section(I’ve got those before — I’m just not sure if they’re the same). Anyway, it’s a great stop if you want Korean food and you’re already shopping at Kukje!

This is one of my go to Korean restaurant! I love the chicken wings here — big and juicy, with very crispy skin but not a thick batter! I’ve tried the tomato wings, which didn’t taste anything like tomato but was still good. I’ve also tried the soy sauce(honey?) wings which reminded me of the wings from San Tung. I’m also a fan of their assorted mushroom tofu soup. Plenty of tofu and mushrooms in it. The japchae was good too! Those three dishes are so good that I haven’t tried anything else because I always want the exact same three things every time I’m here. I’ll definitely be back again to try other stuff on the menu.

Located inside Kukje(or colloquially called K Mart), I ate here with family recently, and I can’t say it was that good. Most of the stuff was on the bland side. We had a tofu soup and galbi tang, and both were really flavorless. They both were devoid of salt, so adding some would be a good start. I can’t really offer more suggestions until the basic seasonings are addressed. The bibimbap’s stone pot wasn’t hot enough so the layer of crispy rice didn’t form. The egg on top was also overcooked so the yolk wasn’t runny. Sadness all around. If you find yourself eating here, the grilled meats are always a safe choice. It doesn’t stand out from other Korean restaurants, and it’s not really cheap or anything either, but their Korean BBQ is probably the best thing on the menu. Overall, I think there are many other better choices for Korean food elsewhere.

Like others have said, this restaurant is inside Kukje market. They offer the staple Korean dishes as well Japanese cuisine. My husband and I ordered the bibambop with beef in the stoneware and the original fried chicken. I enjoyed the bibambop and the fried chicken was pretty good. It has a light as crispy batter, but dipped in generously(if that makes sense). We got the BBQ sauce to go with it, which was ok. I could eat it without the sauce. The 5 «free» side dishes were decent. Server was friendly and food arrived promptly. Total was $ 42(w/o tip), a little pricey since the bibambop was $ 14 each.

I love this restaurant as how it always reminded me about my childhood living with my step mom; she didn’t want to give me any food because she hated me but she was forced to because I’m my dad’s son. And I knew that she had to serve me so I kept coming to her and told her to make my food when I was hungry. She would throw dishes of food on the dinner table, pour water all over my glass and spill it on the table, or how she would totally ignore me standing at the door waiting for a longggggg time for her permission to sit down and where to sit… while she was taking her sweet time talking and joking with her friends the whole time. To be honest, her food was actually good when I was very hungry. There are these service bells on the tables which is a common thing in Korean restaurants. The point is that when you — the customers — ring the bell, the center box will display the number of your table, the waiter then looks at the number and comes to you to take a request. Anyway, those service bells at this particular restaurant also remind me of how my step mom and her friends would ignore the door bell when they were not in the mood. I remember seeing her standing in the kitchen texting and looking at her phone while the bell rang multiple times from different people. Her friend was standing at another corner and just minding his thing while joking about her texts. After ringing the bell and waited for a longggg time, we decided to walk to the front and pay the bill. The eye-rolling of the male waiter, OMG, that was sooo my step mom… I wanted to cry but there were others. Beside being left alone in this restaurant so many times, there are many things that make me missing her so much. Oh, and then when the waitress finally came to our table to take order then brought us only ONE glass of water, that was exactly how my step mom would bring hot tea for her own child Bertha and leave me hanging without my drink or food until I told my dad. I’m not sure if all this is coincidental but people here serve their food really fast too, just like my step mom. Will I come back? Are you kidding me? Sure, when I’m really hungry and missing the time my mom mistreating me… I’m serious. I’ll call my dad now.

Not the best Korean restaurant but it was pretty good. I was hungry so we decided to eat here instead of cook something at home. I heard so much about the chicken wings… but I stubbornly didn’t order any:( What I Ordered: — Shrimp Tempura: Delicious! Crispy and light. Huge pieces of shrimp. I mean it’s fried shrimp… how could you not like that?! — Kalbi(Short Ribs): I liked how it came sizzling on a plate. I also loved the onions on the bottom of the plate… so good with the kalbi drippings:) — BanChan(Little Veggie Appetizers): Not bad. Kim Chee needs a bit more kick. Overall I wouldn’t mind coming back. It’s kinda expensive though. Anyway… I really wanna try the Kimchee Fried Rice and Chicken Wings. Anyone one wanna go with me lol?

Awesome spicy Korean food deliciousness! Hidden gem inside the market. Super authentic and definitely hit the spot for my craving. Service was cordial but less than stellar — not enough staff to support the size,

first time here and finally get to try this restaurant after how many years of going korean-market shopping in kukje. so-this restaurant is inside the kukje market. its pretty spacious inside and its popular. the service gets a bit slow. since it got busy & they only have 3servers. then we left with a line outside the restaurant. its that kind of popular. we ordered the following: combination beef seafood tofu soup-which was fresh i love the tofu, kimchee fried rice-too spicy like really, do bokki-yum yum, bulgogi-tasted very good. you’ll know that it was marinated very good, the banchan was ok… the string looking like a radish was not a radish but strings of spicy squid yum yum yum we got suprised since we thought its a radish hehehe Everything was tasty and yummy.

While shopping around Kukje, the roommate and I realized we’d be too lazy to cook dinner after shopping, so we decided to get some take out. We placed our order at the counter and then went to pay for our groceries. We didn’t have to wait too long afterwards until our order was ready. We ordered: Kimchi fried rice($ 9.95) — Came with beef and topped with a fried egg. The rice was mushy and kind of bland. Plus the egg was overcooked so we didn’t get that nice runny yolk when breaking into the egg. Granted we did get it to go, but the egg was over hard by the time we got home. Ohjiunguh bokum($ 12.95) — Sauteed calamari & vegetable with spicy sauce. One of the roommate’s favorite dishes and the only one I really enjoyed. The octopus was chewy but tender, the veggies were cooked nicely and the sauce had a nice savory spicy kick! Combination soft tofu soup($ 9.95) — Tofu boiled with beef, shrimps & clam. So bad! The soup was super bland. The beef tasted old and had an almost jerky like texture. The only good thing about this dish was the amount of clams that were in it. So many clams! But in the end, that doesn’t matter if the soup itself doesn’t have much flavor. I honestly didn’t think the food would be this bad given it was in a Korean market, but next time, I’ll probably skip ordering dinner from International tofu house.

So first time eating here, but not first time to the market. Pretty disappointed with the service and food. My friend and I went here for lunch for some Soondubu(tofu soup) and she ordered the beef while I ordered Seafood with no shrimp specifically. I made it clear I wanted no shrimp. They ended up getting my order wrong, they took it back to take out the shrimp I said not to put in. They left shrimp pieces like tail and wiskers. Gross and not pleasant. But the side dishes were good the soup wasn’t excellent, just okay. Both of ours. It was pourly chopped vegetables, etc.(like left big and chunky) Waiter and waitress seemed like they were in their own world. But relatively nice. BUTMOSTIMPORTANTLYTHEYHAVECOCKROACHESRUNNINGAROUNDINTHEEATINGAREA. Absolutely DISGUSTING. A cockroach ran up the wall next to us and made us comepletely lose our appitite. Place obviously isn’t too clean. If you’re in a rush and need to go quick this is the place. I guess.

Don’t expect good service. I watched the waitress sit at a table and point at a table for a couple to go sit at… Really? $ 7 tekka maki? No thanks. Save yourself money and just get a pre-made roll sitting in the refrigerator section. As for the Korean food, it was ok.

Our side salad was a bunch of limp browned lettuce sitting in half a cup of watered down sauce, which was also in my soy sauce and miso soup bowls when they arrived. I don’t recommend the sushi or the sashimi, the fish is not fresh and the tuna especially had a strange rubbery yet crumbly texture. However, my boyfriend had the dumpling tofu stew and said the soup was tasty.

This ITH is inside the Kukje Market, and it’s easy to miss. It’s become my go-to soon dubu place. Mostly it’s the location and convenient parking; you can easily find a spot in the neighborhood behind the market if the lot is full. None of the food has ever really blown me away, but they’ve never served me anything shockingly bad, either. Once you figure out that you need to ring that table bell for service — I didn’t the first time, and went home in a snit because I thought the service was terrible — everything goes pretty smoothly. They give you 6 ban-chan and they’re diverse and flavorful, which is about all you can ask from the Daly City neighborhood soon dubu place inside the supermarket!

Don’t come here expecting good service. It’s more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. If you want delicious and authentic Korean food, this place is up there with the best! A little nook located inside the Kukje Market whom most people would simply walk past without even noticing it. The food they cook here is superb! We ordered the Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup(Jam Pong) and the Beef Stoneware Rice(Bibimbap). Both dishes were amazing! This is the same kitchen that prepares all the packs of chicken wings, noodles, rice rolls and other assortments that are sold in the market. Don’t let this hidden gem pass you by!

Grabbed a quick lunch at International Tofu House located inside the Kukje Korean Market. The restaurant was pretty busy at 1:30 pm on Saturday. The menu large and has most of the Korean favorites. We ordered the Maki roll with Miso soup, the Kim Chi Chiege(kimchi stew) and the rice cake beef soup. There were three servers and they were busy handling all the customers. The Kimchi Chiege was just OK small portions only found two small pieces of pork belly in the whole stew. The beef and rice cake soup was good and the best dish of the lunch. The Maki roll and Miso soup was ok but not worth the price. There are 5 dishes of ban chans served with the meal. I think we should have had the tofu soup but we just had it the day before. All in all a place to get some quick Korean food when you are going to the market. I did some some others with some chicken wings that looked good. Service was just OK needed to put the call button several times to get the busy servers attention. $ 41 before tip.

An unsuspecting restaurant inside a Korean supermarket. You might be reluctant to give it a chance like I was because it’s tucked in a grocery store, but the soon dobu/tofu soup and sushi rolls can actually compete with both Korean and Japanese establishments in SF. The ramen soon dobu I get is around $ 10 and it comes with ban chan/side dishes, white rice, and miso soup which I don’t touch much. Not really into pregaming my tofu soup with more soup, haha. Also the kalbi was a little rubbery, so I’d swap it for their Korean fried chicken. Haven’t tried it yet, but the pictures look intriguing. The food isn’t quite money-saving, but the fish they use does seem like sushi grade. One area they could improve is their service. An example: when a waiter was bringing our orders, in an annoyed tone he asked us to «give him some room» on the cramped table(which was not our fault). Not the encouragement that makes you want to start digging in, but the food and proximity to my house trump the service in this case so you’ll find me here again.

One of the best things about going out with my childhood friends is that a lot of times, they’re just too lazy to pick where to go eat. So since it falls on me to choose, I get to pick whatever is on my list of places to try — whether it’s popular and well-known, or random and obscure. «We’re going WHERE?» «The soon doobu place inside Kukje.» «That Korean supermarket in Daly City?» «Yup.» “There’s a restaurant inside?” «Yeah, on the right.» «Huh…all right, fine. Let’s go.» Once you get past where it is, International Tofu House(or whatever it’s called) is pretty much like any other tofu soup joint. Their menu has all of the usual dishes to choose from(tofu soups, BBQ meat plates, bibimbop, noodle dishes, seafood pancake, etc.), along with various types of fried chicken as well. However, the quality of the food can’t compare to my usual spots. — Spicy Garlic and Parmesan Cheese Fried Chicken…( ) The three of us shared an order, and while the chicken itself was fine(it had just the right amount of crunchy batter), the mix of flavors was a miss for me. The taste of Parmesan was a little heavy, and the«spicy» sauce wasn’t spicy at all. — Combination Soft Tofu Soup…( ) I normally avoid getting the spiciest level so that I can actually taste the soup, but this one could have used the kick. It both looked and tasted bland, and what little flavor it did have was off. Points for the fresh seafood, but the soup just didn’t do it for me. As for whether or not I would come back, I’m conflicted. I would like to think some of their other dishes might not be so bad(especially other types of their fried chicken), but I wouldn’t go out of my way again to come back. If I had to though, I know exactly who to call to come with me.

Boyfriend took me here and it wasn’t too shabby. Customer service was meh. The girl didn’t really have any life in her(kind of like a robot). I ordered the dragon roll($ 13). It took awhile to get to our table but when it finally got to our table, I instantly knew why: the presentation was BEAUTIFUL. It actually looked like a dragon.(picture in album). There was 8 pieces. It tasted just as good as it looked, I was getting stuffed after 4 pieces because the rolls were pretty big, I had to bite them in half because the pieces couldn’t fit in my mouth. I tried my boyfriend’s spicy pork rice bowl thing and the pork wasn’t spicy at all, still tasted delicious though. His whole bowl was filled with veggies, more veggies than meat and underneath was a lot of rice. I don’t know what type of bowl it was but since it was really hot, it made the rice on the edges of the bowl really hard; not very enjoyable to eat hard crunchy rice. *If you can’t find the waitress, there is a button on the wall next to your table and it will ring and the waitress will come to your table if you need anything :)
