Food was good, beer was good. Only wish they had a more exotic meat available than elk when we ate there. The elk tasted like hamburger meat. I was happy to order the fried green beans as a side because not many places offer that. Wish they had more beers on tap.

When I’m in the mood for some interesting burgers and a chill environment, this is my go-to place. This location is ideal for a larger group with many freely movable tables in the back. The patio is also very enjoyable on a nice day. The fried pickles are one of my favorites here. While they’re standard fried pickles, I like that they fry them as pickle chips rather than spears. There are many burger options to choose from and you can even assemble your own if those don’t suffice. I enjoy a good Big Tex! Typically I will get mine without a bun, making it a burger salad, just to trim a few corners. Also, adult milkshakes can be made to order! :)

We absolutely love coming to Twisted Root. They have a wide range of burgers and sides for everyone. Depending on when you come you might be able to experience a bison burger, kangaroo burger(delicious) or various other meats. This place is just fun to hang out and relax at, even better is enjoying one of their alcoholic milk shakes on a hot summer day.

I’ve been twice since moving to Dallas. The atmosphere is excellent for family or a date. If you’re a fan of a great burger, you’ve got to try it.

Awesome burgers, shakes, and atmosphere. Highly recommended! The staff are all friendly & will help you if you don’t know what to choose from. They also have wild game burgers. They make their own malts which are beyond delicious. I recommend the peanut butter & brownie shake.

This is on the upper echelon of Burger Joints in Dallas. Is it number one? Probably not. Is it top tiered? Certainly. Divey, yet clean. The burgers are good, the drink selections are good, if I’m not mistaken they’ve got root beer on draft which is always fun. This location is easily the best location. I will be back. I like a burger joint that doesn’t try to be snotty. I’d put it above Hopdoddy, Liberty, and Grub.

After spotty service and a fry burger we go to pay. We’re using a gift card from Christmas, hand it to the bartender and he tells us they have a new system and to call and see how much is on the card. We should have said 50.00 but we called and gave him the actual price. After handing it over he messes with it for about 8 minutes then hands it to a sloppy looking manager who apparently finally decides to run it herself. After 15 minutes we get our food paid for. Complete waste of time and money. MANY better burgers in town, most with«updated» systems that don’t rely on non-attentive staff to manage.

These guys do a good job and have fun in the process. Don’t be surprised when they decide to name you Elvis or Doogie Howser after you order at the counter so they can call you by that name when your order is ready. The staff if fun and friendly and the burgers are quality with lots of options and toppings to choose from. I LOVE a place that has SWEETPICKLES to put on my burger creation! They have several other kinds as well. 5 Stars on that decision. They may not be my favorite burger place, but they are on the top of my list and I will frequent them often. Keep up the good work fellas! Your Buffalo Burger eating A-List Concierge, Hopkins

LITERALLYSOUTHERNCOMFORT Tuesday nights are a major bummer and may take the cake as the worst day of the week. That is why Trivia Night was invented. So I joined fellow Texans at Twisted Root for the Trivia Night and the unique eats. I wanted to know if the hype surrounding Twisted Root’s burgers can be really validated. ANDBOYDOTHEYMAKEBURGERS. Note: They say that they cook their burgers medium well aka barely any pink. If you want it more raw, you’ll need to SPEAKUP. The Food: BOLD, ORIGINAL, and CREATIVE. I had the Southern Comfort burger, Maple Bacon Custard Shake, and their Pickles. Southern Comfort: ANAPPETIZERANDANENTREE! It felt weird to order a Southern Comfort and get a gourmet burger, instead of a shot of whiskey. However, it was probably the first time where ordering a Southern Comfort was one of my best decisions of the night! The burger consisted of cheddar cheese, fried green tomatoes, Bourbon BBQ glaze, 2 slices of bacon, and a large beef patty. The bacon was crispy and fatty, making the burger more decadent. The Bourbon BBQ glaze provided a quick char and earthy taste. After a while, the BBQ flavor becomes the dominant flavor. The cheddar provided the ooey gooey texture and helped quench the spices of the BBQ glaze. The fried green tomatoes completed the burger with a nice crunch, along with a sweet and tangy flavor. Glad they used green tomatoes, because ripe, red tomatoes would’ve provided a more sour flavor that stays in your mouth. The beef patty was medium well by default, but I would have rather had medium rare or rare. The beef patty did not have much beefiness and was not that well seasoned with salt and pepper(–1 star). However, the rich toppings saved the flavor, but a well seasoned beef patty would’ve been the icing on this carnivorous cake. Note: Fried green tomatoes are usually a separate menu item/appetizer, so get the Southern Comfort to get an appetizer and entrée! Maple Bacon Custard Shake: MAPLEDONUT, ICECREAM, ANDBACON! Note: This is the Shake of the Month. RICKYRICARDO, YOURSHAKEISREADY. The last words I heard from the ordering station before I fell from sweet, sweet heaven and entered a pleasure-seeking, lustfully exquisite dessert underworld. BRAVO. BRAVO. The Maple Bacon Custard shake is a MASTERPIECE. The custard shakes here are homemade; and you can taste the cream, milk, and eggs from them! You taste each raw element that goes into the shake. The maple flavor is present in all its complex and intricate elements of flavor. However, it is not overly sweet! Usually, maple dominates everything you taste: ex. maple bars, donuts, syrup. This shake downplays the maple so that you get all its unique flavors, along with the taste of the housemade custard. Truly a masterpiece. The bacon provides the salty contrast that clears your palate, because the shake is still sweet and decadent. Sweet, Salty, Mapley, Creamy; this is the dessert of the century. Why cry about breakups, lost jobs, stress, work problems, etc, when you can lift up your smile with this Maple Bacon Custard shake? MASTERPIECE. Pickles: 4FLAVORS, YOUDECIDE. Twisted Root provides 4 complimentary flavors of pickles for your choosing. I had sweet and spicy, classic dill, bread & butter, and atomic. Sweet and spicy had a nice honey-BBQ-esque sweetness with a little bit of the flavor of spice. They are not spicy, but you feel as though spice is building up… my favorite. The classic dill was… classic dill, the original. The bread & butter was very sweet and solid. The atomic provided some heat and tanginess, but not one of my favorites. The pickles are wedge-cut and about half a centimeter thick. They provided an excellent crunch and pairs well with the burgers and shakes. The Verdict: THEHYPEISREAL. Outstanding food, trivia night, open outdoor sitting, this place is a Texan paradise, especially on the weekday nights. The Southern Comfort combines bacon, BBQ, fried green tomatoes, and cheese into one massive burger that is neither appetizer nor entrée, but a culmination of both. MAPLEBACONCUSTARD shake is not too sweet but has the unique and distinct flavors of maple, the fresh and raw flavors of a homemade custard, with the creaminess and decadence of a perfect dessert. Have an endless appetizer of 4 different crunchy pickles to compliment your burger or your beer. The social atmosphere only begins at night and thrives well into the evening. Cheers to saving those weekdays!

Good patio area at this location. It’s a great part of town to do a little bit of people watching! You know what I mean. I mean, it’s SMU Blvd. I always get the turkey burger and it is oh so juicy. Love their pickles too. Fries also are an A plus! I hardly come out here but if I have a hankering for a good burger and I’m cruising the area I’m for sure stopping by. Always there are issues with parking but drive around the block a bit and you may get lucky.

This place is pretty good, I really enjoyed the fried green beans and my boyfriend enjoyed his burger. Very awesome selection of pickles as well. What was disappointing was the shake — it was ok, but for $ 5 I expected something larger than a kiddie cup. For that price I could go out and buy a gallon of ice cream… Cool atmosphere, ordering at the counter and long picnic tables make it great for large groups of friends.

I liked the feel of Twisted Root. Digging their music choices(new and old school hip hop) and the décor. The process of ordering through a ‘fast food’ style line doesn’t make me feel like I’m eating a ‘gourmet’ burger(while paying gourmet prices $$$$) but I can roll with it. The food: mediocre. A burger is a burger is a burger unless something about it stands out. I made a pretty plain-jane choice to really get the TASTE of it… maybe it would be better with their fun toppings? Either way, the turkey burger wasn’t anything to write home about with no stand out seasoning that I could taste.(And I didn’t get the onions on it like I had ordered. Darn!) Adult milkshake: fun idea, terrible execution. Vanilla porter and custard shake. Custard on the bottom, beer on top. What is the thought process behind this? Usually an adult milkshake is mixed… how can I consume this without drinking all the beer first or all the custard? It felt like a ‘beer float’ but where the ice cream melts so quickly that it’s like beer with milk added. More custard, less beer. Blah. Disappointed. They do give you the remaining beer though so THAT part is bueno. I loved the patio area especially since the weather is so perfect for it once the sun goes down. They’re def on the ball with their customer service. Every person I interacted with was kind and helpful. The manager was helpful, he bartender was cool and chill, and the cashier was friendly and helped walk me through the ordering process.

This location is a little different from the one in Deep Ellum, well atmosphere wise and the set up. They have a full bar with tons of seating, you’ll walk into screen doors to enter the kitchen. The reason I keep coming back to this location is the nice outside patio, full bar, $ 2 drink specials, nice craft beer selection, trivia night on Tuesdays, fantastic staff and awesome Bloody Mary; I also really enjoy the sweet potato chips with their spicy homemade ketchup. I’m not a huge fan of their burgers, I tried The Verde and the westerner. Yet, I was not impressed. The burger bread breaks apart as your eating and it’s a little too greasy. However, I must admit I really like how creative the burger toppings are. They also have an option of choosing a hotdog instead of a burger, maybe I’ll try that someday.

I rarely crave burgers so when I did my boyfriend said to go to twisted roots because he said it was better than hopdoddys. He was right. ! I loved it! I got the big tex which was amazingly delicious! It had avocado, fried onion rings, and bacon! The sweet potato chips were also good. I also liked that they have unlimited pickles for you to get! So that’s a plus for me because I love pickles: p The only thing I did not like was the drinks, I had the cocktail and it tasted watered down. couldn’t taste any alcohol in it. The atmosphere for this place is chill and laid back. We went around 9:30 so parking wasn’t a hassle. They had outdoor patio seating which were great because the weather is starting to feel nice.

Famous for there crazy unique styles Twisted Root makes good burgers. This location is the second to open but it’s the most unique mostly cause the celebrities of all kinds come to this stop. The one in Deep Ellum is the OG but its just too busy. This location has awesome and helpful staff great ambiance. Plus you can’t beat the good drink specials. Two dollar Lone Stars and PBR’s. I definitely will be coming back.

The burgers were terrific, as always. I had The Verde burger this time. Great taste. The service wasn’t as good today, though. A conversation with the person at the counter about two pieces of bacon instead of three(as stated on the menu) lasted a little too long. And 2 dollars for a side of ranch is too much, I think. Unless they’re giving you Southfork Ranch, of course.

So we were headed down to the commerce as trey location when Siri re-routed us to this location near SMU. Atmosphere: fun, loud, music, tv all going at once Food: we had the freshman 15, the western, the Kevin bacon Son: one of the best burgers I’ve ever had — he ate the western Wife: Kevin bacon was great Daughters: freshman 15 was egg-cellent Me: also had a western it was very good.

Twisted Root is a gourmet burger joint with a hip vibe that caters to the university crowd. The atmosphere is like a bar, in fact they have a bar in the middle of the restaurant and there is a large outdoor patio for warm weather eating. We sat inside since it’s a colder time of year but the restaurant was still warm inside. There a lot of large screen TVs above the bar and the restaurant is quite loud. So, it’s quite lively and reminds me of my university days. The burgers aren’t cheap but are pretty comparable in pricing for the trendy gourmet burger restaurant set. The burgers themselves were actually very very good. I had the Big Tex burger which had guacamole, fried onion strings and cheddar. It was truly a massive burger and was excellent. That was definitely the best part of the meal and I understand why this place is popular. We also ordered cheese fries which were way too oily and not very good. Not a big deal since it’s just a side order. I wish I had tried the watermelon ice tea that I have read about but forgot about that. Depending on your mood the busy atmosphere might be loud for some people, plus the restaurant was a little cramped for space so it was a little uncomfortable. Having tried both, I prefer the location and setup of Hopdoddy over Twisted Root but both places have awesome burgers.

Very cool place for whoever loves burgers! My frs took me here the other day, and whatever I ordered was amazingly good. I’m not a big fan of burgers, but YES their burgers are not bad at all! I’ll sure come back for another try!
