Cool place downtown to grab a drink after work. The place is kind of small so seating is limited, but definitely a good place to check out.

Such a cozy little downtown spot with art nouveau décor and comfy seating. Don’t bring the whole family, this restaurant houses a maximum of 48 people and that wouldn’t be comfortable. Happy hour is Monday through Friday 11 – 6 and boats cocktails, wine and beer priced variously from pretty decent to «that’s not happy hour.» The menu is short and sweet and absolutely delicious. I recommend the panini or the burger and the crème brûlée is a must try. Try to arrive before 7 when things tend to pick up but if you want to catch the live jazz then go for late night after 9.

You can tell it’s a proper Chef in the kitchen. Great home cooked food. Excellent pork pâté and french onion soup. Love the style and the personal touches, nice cut crystal glasswear in a hole in the wall spot. A real find!

Been here for lunch twice. Great price and portion. The bartender was the waitress and she was very attentive and nice.

Really solid restaurant. Enjoyed the contemporary décor and the choice to dine in or out. Our waitress was sort of cute and experienced in food service, She made good recommendations on beer and drinks. Dinner was served with table hummus and olives, Nice! I was impressed with my meal, decided on the vegetarian panini sandwich since it was my second dinner. Will be back for possibly for oysters but growing up on the ocean I am picky with seafood. Will deff go back for drinks I am glad to see my neighborhood growing.

I visited the Mitchell for the first time recently, and overall I’m pretty pleased. Cons: The menu and happy hour specials were not what I’d been led to believe from the website/yelp info(I guess they had not been updated recently). Unfortunate, but not a deal breaker. They were also out of some of the main menu items, but the bartender was able to make some good replacement suggestions. Pros: Fast service — the place was surprisingly empty when we went in, so we had a lot of personalized attention. The bartender made some lovely cocktails for us and we got to talk about fancy scotch, various cocktail bars and bitter marriages. The food was good and not horribly over priced for the area. The atmosphere is hipster-swank, but not oppressively so. Will definitely be coming back again sometime.

I love every single thing about this place! It’s absolutely beautiful inside — very lush, clean, chill atmosphere. Bartender was great, oysters were delicious, drinks were strong. I look forward to going back as soon as I am in Dallas. Favorite bar ever!!!

I am seriously surprised at the negative reviews here. My bartender was helpful, friendly, and anticipated my refills right on cue. I made it in time for happy hour when drinks are half off. Not only were all my gin concoctions refreshing, but the atmosphere was a perfect way to start my weekend after work. The atmosphere is part retro and part romantic. I say retro because it feels almost like an upscale bar you’d see from the 40’s in a grainy photograph. It’s romantic because the lighting is dim and the music either didn’t exist or perfectly blended to background noise. Order the mussels and fries. You won’t regret it.

I really loved this place. We came here a little bit earlier on a Saturday evening before it was crowded and sat at the bar. The bartender was lovely and was really helpful in making suggestions and recommendations for what we thought we might like. She was very creative and really presented the choices to us and telling us their history or a fun fact about them. For example, I drank a neat vodka from iceland that flowed through lava rocks and my boyfriend ordered a bourbon aromatic cocktail. I cannot speak for the food as we did not order anything, but I really do like the ambiance and atmosphere of the place.

Ordered the tuna nicoise for lunch($ 10). Came out nicely plated and very tasty with an unexpected mix of olives, mashed potatoes, seared ahi tuna. The saltiness, creaminess and fish made for a nice combo.

I miss the Chesterfield. so I used to frequent this location when it was The Chesterfield, they had a great happy hour, awesome décor and friendly bartenders! it was like a little downtown secret that if you didn’t know about it you’ve provably walked past their doors on a daily basis. then, one sad day they closed down… well to my pleasant surprise, the location opened again under new name and I assume new management. My boyfriend planned and surprise date night for us this past week and knew how much I loved the previous establishment so decided to take me to The Mitchell. I was SO excited. the ambiance is divine, with beautiful chandeliers, plush seating, cute outdoor patio facing main street, what more can you ask for… personable bartenders, that’s what more you could ask for. I saw previous Unilocalers comments on the staff being rude, and I’m not 100% sure I’d say they were rude, but far from friendly for sure. they didn’t make suggestions on the drinks or even ask if it was our first time visiting. I couldn’t tell if he was overwhelmed or just skittish. on the other hand, our drinks were delicious and had great presentation. the food wasn’t up my alley but no worries on that. Unfortunately the Mitchell just didn’t really do it for me. I’m not certain I’d go back.

Great drinks. Fantastic food! The bartender Cody is truly A «Spirit Guide» who can transport you to Nirvana with his hand-crafted cocktails. He created an amazing lavender-infused gimlet for me. My husband, a bourbon drinker, tried a rare and unique small batch bourbon. Definitely will return!

Great place for a quick lunch downtown! The cheeseburger and quiche lorraine were both quite good. The cool atmosphere and jazzy soundtrack made for a nice lunchtime escape from the office. I look forward to coming back soon!

I’ve only been for happy hour, which is great. $ 5 fords G&Ts(with fever tree or Q tonic) and $ 1 east coast oysters. Get there early and sit at the bar. Burger is very good. Bartenders are professional and attentive. They do need to change the happy hour hours on the website. Happy hour is from 5p-6p.(except for all day Wednesdays)

This is great cocktail lounge that primarily focuses on all things Gin. In the event you’re not a connoisseur of Gin you are still in luck as they have a full bar along several tasty adult beverages which are not Gin based. And they also have a nice selection of wine and champagne. In short they have covered all bases when it comes to adult beverages. I usually sit at the bar as I enjoy ‘choppin it up’ with the bartenders. They keep the conversation interesting while at the same keeping an eye on customers at the bar and tending to their needs. There’s always some decent music playing in the background; just loud enough to hear but not so loud that it makes it impossible to have a discussion. On all of my visits I’ve stopped through after eating dinner elsewhere so I have not tried the food here. Perhaps one day I’ll check it out. That said, because The Mitchell has more of a lounge feel to it, I may just stick with the adult beverages. As noted in other reviews, the adult beverages are a little pricier than your average bar. I feel they are on par with similar cocktail lounges(not bars). As for the space, it is on the small side but they make good use of it. The Mitchell is designed to be more of a lounge that accommodates smaller parties, couples, a few friends, etc. Because of the layout, I would not bring a large party(10+) here as it might be difficult to accommodate. If you happen to be in the area, check it out for yourself. And who knows, you might run into me as The Mitchell will continue to be in my rotation for an occasional adult beverage or two.

It’s not often I have return to lower a rating. Customer service and deceptive advertising will do it though! We walked by a couple times and noticed the advertisement board outside The Mitchell showed«$ 6 Cocktails», as well as a couple other drink and oyster specials«all night» Wednesdays. I’ve been here a few times and know that their cocktails are priced at $ 12 so even a few priced at half that is an awesome deal. We walked in and noticed a large party of about 10, but only one other person at the bar. We were greeted with a food menu and when we said we were just having drinks the bar tender gave us a drink menu… this was the first red flag… a single drink menu for two guys to share… I asked for my own menu. Bartender said nothing about specials or the happy hour. The Mitchell is a gin bar… so the menu has an extensive list of gin drinks and about 10 cocktails… in a menu section titled«Cocktails». I ordered a cocktail and he asked the bartender for a recommendation. Bartender offered to make something that used to be on the menu. As we sat there with our cocktails that should be $ 6 we noticed people come in and wait a long time… they had a bartender and a server… both struggled with the moderate crowd. We decided to stop at one drink when the bartender presented us w a bill $ 24, $ 12 each cocktail. I asked and bartender now explains that it is «bartender’s choice» of cocktail(single)! He first offered to serve us two more drinks and charge us for only one… what??! We declined and he started to offer a second resolution when I simply asked him to reduce the price of the cocktails. Ended up paying $ 18 for both drinks. I made sure my gratuity showed my appreciation that the bartender never explained this silly happy hour nor was he apologetic. This event has turned me off of The Mitchell… there are places within 50 feet with real happy hours and good bartenders that explain the menu specials… so no reason to return here.

10÷17÷15UPDATE [ –1STAR ] This time i brought two friends and the experience was horrible. We sat at a table and I had to argue with the waiter(which i’ve never done in my life) about their happy hour time which their flier says 8pm, the website says 7pm and they are saying 6pm! I had to argue for a while before eventually they agreed i was right. I should mention that i came specifically for the happy hour because otherwise they are too expensive. In addition the oysters took forever to get to me and so did the drinks and then nobody asked if we wanted more. On top of all that; On the menu it says you can get a $ 5 gin and tonic or a $ 6 barman’s choice yet when i ordered two barman’s choice I got a gin and tonic which i truly hate the flavor of because it’s bitter. I’d much rather you just poured gin in a cup and handed it to me. I failed to check the receipt to see if I was charged $ 6 for a gin and tonic that should have obviously been $ 5. The waiter was very apologetic to us and said the other guy helping us was new but honestly the whole operation seemed to be a clusterf*ck and it was disappointing all the way around. I will probably never go back again, sadly. 10÷17÷15UPDATE — — — — — *This review is just for the Happy Hour, essentially. I came on a Tuesday to enjoy $ 1 east coast oysters and $ 6 barman’s choice cocktails. Oysters: 5⁄5(clean and tasty) Cocktail: 5⁄5(very good but i wish I had the option to have a $ 5 old fashioned) Atmosphere: 4⁄5(place is beautiful but business seems to be slow) Service: 5⁄5 I saw other people’s complaints about rude staff or something like that. I did not experience this but I will say that the bartender, even though he was very cool to me, he does not even smile at you when first meeting you so his social skills are a little lacking for the service industry. But that being said he complimented my «It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia» t-shirt so after bonding on that I now think of him as a brother. lol *Note to the business owner, please expand happy hour to at least include old fashioneds and you will have me as a regular.

The Mitchell aspires to be a hoity toity downtown bar with a large cavier menu and 6 ounce wine pours starting at $ 12, underlining a self described PR quote — «We see ourselves as an upscale hotel bar without the hotel.» Sirenic crystal rainbow chandeliers beam in a glowing gold burnished wallpapered interior with warm wood booths for posing and acting«all that.» The pomp might not substantiate the offerings, hey it’s Dallas, and cheaper wines and more interesting surroundings, like the Midnight Rambler in the Joule hotel, would be my personal choice if opted.(The midnight rambler is actually a real upscale hotel bar.) But the Mitchell isn’t so bad, even if it screams snobby, catering to high noses and the intrigue of expensive haircuts and carefully pressed designer fashion. The cocktails my friends ordered were tasty but prepare to pay the cost of a cheap meal or a food forward small plate — $ 12. «It looks just the same as when it was the chesterfield.» My friend lamented as she sipped her cocktail, which she in fact thoroughly enjoyed. Unsure if the Mitchell’s ambition and pretense can float a success with downtown denizens — I certainly wouldn’t call it a destination.
