This place is a hit or miss for lunch. They have daily specials, each day is designated to have a Chef Special Pasta and dish. Sometimes by the time we get here around 11am for lunch, the servers aren’t sure what the specials are and then sometimes they do. I have one picture attached that my boss loved and it was the Enchilada Casserole but that isn’t what they called it. It was the Blue Plate special of the day and that day it was Mexican food. The problem with liking a Chef special is, you can’t go here and order it again since it was a random thing. I’ve had their Blue Plate Pasta of the day and have really only liked it once when it was a spicy penne blackened chicken with a creamy white sauce. Their bread that is put on the table before your meal is wonderful. Nice and hot with a slight sweet taste, but sometimes they forget to put it there. They did have a good chicken friend chicken but it came with fries, not mashed potatoes. I didn’t like their cheese fries since it kinda lacked cheese throughout the fries. They are quick and it is easy to get in and out within 30 – 45 minutes.

Decent tequila selection, and I opted to skip the food based on watching a few dishes come out. probably not awesome, I thought to myself… At least, not as awesome as this glass of tequila.

Beer was very pricey and service a little slow but friendly. It is a hotel connected bar in downtown Dallas so thats all expected!

Needed to kill a few minutes before another stop, and we decided to stop in for a beer. Prices were not outrageous for a hotel bar, and buckets of complimetary peanuts was a bonus.

With a generic vibe of «tourist caterer» and a somewhat uninspired western theme leaves this bar without much charm and regularly seems deserted. The offerings however are straightforward, peanuts in the shell are available gratis in buckets and there is a good happy hour for beer and well drinks, around $ 3 each. It works in a pinch, however I wouldn’t consider it a destination. There is no patio but you might strike up an interesting conversation with someone out of town on business. Burger, nacho menu you might expect.

This is a decent bar in the bottom of the Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas. I have not eaten here, well, other than the peanuts they keep on the bar. There is a decent beer selection, but as some other Unilocalers note, the prices can be a bit high. This shouldn’t be a surprise, as you are in a nice hotel in downtown Dallas. But, you won’t find any deals at this place. The service we had(Saturday night, after midnight) was pretty good, especially considering the place was very busy. Bartenders were friendly, and one of them suggested a place to go for late night pizza(see my review of the Original Italian Café). The peanuts shells make the place crazy messy, but I think they are wanting a sort of old saloon feel, so they don’t care. There are the requisite TVs at the bar. But, if you are there to watch a particular event, make sure you can see. I sat in a couple of barstools that had no view of a TV. It’s a good enough bar if you are in the area, but it’s certainly nothing to write home about.

$ 8.50 for a beer. $ 8.50 for a beer. $ 8.50 for a beer. $ 8.50 for a beer. $ 8.50 for a pint of Fireman’s #4 that was claimed to be 20oz at 4pm? I think not. The service was good but I will not be returning, $ 8.50 is just way too much. $ 8.50 for a beer. $ 8.50 for a beer. $ 8.50 for a beer. $ 8.50 for a beer.

It is a Texas grill. You can get full with under $ 10 for lunch. The steak sandwich with blue cheese was good. Tender steak, not chewy dried meat. All too often a steak sandwich is chewy dried meat. Not here. Steak sandwich done correct.

So my coworker brought me here for lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all the entrance, a revolving door, was awesome. I still feel like a kid everytime I go through one. The interior is reminescent of an old time steakhouse with the western décor and a trough full of peanuts. The menu was solid line up of delicious tastes just from reading it. The best part, and probably the most shocking part to me given the location, was 90% of the menu is less than $ 15!!! I ended up getting the special of the day which was a chicken and spinach salad that came with pickled onions, artichoke hearts, black olives, and feta cheese. It was a rock solid meal that I could have turned into two really. Walt Garrison’s is definitely a gem and worth the visit. I’ll be back to check out the happy hour and some more of the entrees.

I’m a little late… but this was the most low key place in Downtown. We went to some other places that were fancier and pricier, one that even had a great city view. This just brought it back to cozy. My sister and I had a great time talking to others and plus the bartenders were excellent. Stayed there way longer than expected. Can’t have enough peanuts! :-)

What in the wild Wild West is going on here? This place is straight out of the days when cold beer, cowboys and the TV show Dallas was on too & I loved every minute. This place is set in a classic western décor, but the staff is friendly and pleasant. If you’re a downtown local, you’re in for a treat. In a weird twilight zone way, this is your grandpa’s game room. The drinks are adult & stiff! It’s also full of friendly hotel guests from all over the country. I was there for 45 minutes and it was great. I will come back on night after work.

When you walk in the door at The Rodeo, you’re instantly transported to the ultimate stereotyped, Texas bar in Downtown Dallas. In fact, the pace is more Cowtown than Dallas. But once you sit down, you’ll find friendly service and a good meal. I find myself at the Adolphus frequently, mostly for work events so I’ve dined here a few times. For lunch, its not bad, but the dinner menu feature my favorite item: The Short Ribs! I came here on a recent night while I was staying at the Adolphus for 8 days(plumbing emergency at the house!) It was a quiet night, with only a few other patrons. You can eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor if you desire. I overheard someone order the Short Ribs so I asked the server about it, and she said it was her favorite. So I trusted her opinion and it was a success! I engulfed every bite of the tenderness of the mashed potatoes and short ribs! A meat-and-potatoes delicacy! I definitely recommend ordering it here. Don’t let the dated décor and the cheesy Texas theme scare you away. It’s a decent hotel bar with down-to-earth service and some pretty good food. Solid four stars!

Was in Dallas for the OU football game. Place was packed and lots of atmosphere. Had the BBQ pork ribs and they were great. Had a great time, enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere.

Omg how did we get here ;) that was my tip! I don’t remember leaving that first of all and I can’t admit I was«really here» I think I might have been with some hot homeboys from NYC/New Jersey that totally rock but I can’t really say… hypothetically speaking. I might have been there with crazy ass fellow Unilocaler Christopher K. & his super duper cool buddy from Brooklyn, Joe, fancy pants big shot from lone star park! Yea! That’s right little cowboys! «LOVEYAJOE! go on ahead with you badass self wit your badass ride!» LOL. There might have been a storm & during this super storm«CC, CHRIS&JOERODEOSHOW» I can’t exactly tell you what I might have witnessed here, at this super cool cowboy rodeo themed bar/saloon with peanut shells all over the damn place, but the dude that fell over on the bar and broke all the martini glasses might have been drunker than US! Hypothetically speaking of course :) LMFAO I also might have washed some dishes with Paco maybe not, But I will def tell you that the bartender looks like Danny Bonaduce and was totally fly! AMAZBALLS! I accidentally went into the mens room it’s quite lovely actually — Horse shoes up little cowgirls(boobs) horse shoes down little cowboys(balls) LOL «Rodeo» we have dubbed this place, is attached to the legendary Adolphus Hotel as I might recall falling down going UP those stairs, possibly, as Joe tells me he saw my ass! :) This may or may not be true! LOL I did eat the peanuts at this place and they were tasty! Salty just like I like em! Loved the giant cow trough of them and tossin peanut shells all over the freakin place was fun! Went great with the Red Bull & top shelf VODKA! LOL All I can say is what happened at this cowboy themed bar/saloon stays at this cowboy themed bar/saloon ;) Cowboy up and give it a try peeps if you dare! Will def return to this«RODEO» ;) Christopher K. You rock homeboy! Possibly the most EPIC adventure I can never remember at this«RODEO» saloon in the big D! WOO«HOP» HOO& a Big YeeHaw!

Staying at the hotel, looking for a bite before the Depeche concert, Rodeo here I come… The GOOD — Service was quick(but the place was empty LOL) and the spicy chowda was on point! I shoulda ordered a bowl — Ordered the club(yuck!) — the sandwich wasnt bad at all, I just wanted something different(I eat burgers/chicken all the time) I forgot I need to be in a «club» mood to eat one… I guess. The BAD — Either I missed the peanut sign, or there isn’t one coming from the hotel. WARNING — there are shells everywhere — not a bother to me, but it may to others. I wanna try this place again —

Yeah … so I live downtown and the rodeo is a staple on «certain» nights. The convenience, general friendly attitude, and food worthy of a restaurant covered in peanuts is fine by me. Place is comforting and select bartendresses will prove they are not the one! Thank goodness I get to «walk» home after. Oh it’s also a hoot of a place to meet out of towners for chuckles and local peeps for kicks. Occasional hobos and Mary Kay conventions scare the hell outta me but not enough to keep me from Coming back. :)

So, the hubs and I went here a couple of times and, honestly? I can’t put my finger on what makes this place so cool, but it just is. The bartender was the same both nights and she was very friendly but didn’t put up with people’s crap. We sat at the bar and, although people came and went, the conversations were either interesting to eavesdrop on or completely intelligent and entertaining to participate in. This was a great hang out in a part of town that seemed to seriously lack one good block of «Cheers» type bars.

this place gets packed, they offer complimentary peanuts(that you can toss on the floor) and bartenders that serve fast– The wings smelled delish! I will be back. I only had one problem, the restrooms are gender noted by horse shoes. I was way too buzzed to figure it out. The horse shoes facing down is the Mens stall! Face up ladies! I still don’t get the innuendo. Maybe someone could explain it to me!
