Dive Bar, this is the place the invented the phrase. And it’s ridiculously awesome. If you like a place with with Christmas still hanging from probably around d the grand opening. Questionable cleanliness standards. And rocky unmatched tables and chairs. With the absolute best blues and jazz music around. Then here’s your bar. Parking sucks. But damn this bar is great. If you have not experienced the Goat yet, put it on your bucket list.

This is the divey-est bar I’ve ever been to. I liked that it was open late during the week & the drinks were cheap. They had some live music going but it wasn’t particularly good or bad. Will I come back? Not likely… but I had a good time while I was there.

I was in the area and decided to stop by. I usually enjoy a good dive bar experience, so this place met my expectations. The patrons in there were very friendly, and it seems they have a lot of regulars. I ordered a beer, and was happy with the low price for beer there. The only downside was the bartender was complaining a lot out loud about the bottles being empty, the phone ringing, etc. Not the best service, but I would consider coming back!

This two star review is based on first impressions of one visit. Arrived early in the evening on Friday and it was not very busy. The bar was mostly full and no bartender or service in sight. After getting no help for 10 minutes just decided it was best to leave. Definitely a dive. Not sure if I’ll give it another try in the future.

Music is great but they take a long time to give you your drink. There was not a lot of people for them to take that long to serve you. But will go again to enjoy the music.

This place is simply fantastic! I went on a Thursday night 12÷3÷15 there was great live blues music with many different musicians sitting in on the Jam session, from 10pm when I arrived until the place closed at 2am the music never stopped and all the musicians were fantastic and having a great time! The environment was very tidy and they keep picking up cups and bottles as the night went on to keep it tidy! There was no cover to get in and the bottled beer was only $ 3.00 a pop. Also I did‘t see anyone smoking on the inside which means it was not real smoky for non-smokers that may not like smoke. I highly recommend you give this place a try. If the owner reads this great job!(I am the tall bald guy that was out front and I am very happy that I decided to come in and I will be back!) Strong Points: NOCOVERCHARGE(at least on the night that I attended) GREATLIVEMUSIC FRIENDLY People SAFEENVIRONMENT NO Smoke on the inside GOODPRICES OWNERKEEPSITTIDY

The bar staff is great, the atmosphere is wonderfully divey, and the karaōke apparently sucks, now. The most recent two times I’ve been to The Goat, I’ve had the misfortune of attending karaōke night with this«Hammertimez» guy who can’t seem to run a rotation to save his life, even on a slow night. Whether you check in with him, tip him(or his friends), or just let it ride, he doesn’t seem to have a good idea of who you are or where you are in his queue, and even when another singer has gone multiple times, inquiries about your position on the list will meet with a hearty«iuno» or a half-hearted«yeah, I think you’re like maybe five up.»(I don’t know if he ever actually checks.) Showed up here on a busy night months before with another KJ who at least kept the energy up and the singers rotating effectively. There were dozens more people there than the times I’ve been there since, and while I only got one song in the whole time, it was nevertheless fun. Whether you’re there just to sing or enjoy people belting and butchering your favorite songs, the KJ should keep things moving and the audience happy. This chief made the usually-energetic première karaōke dive seem like a stoned, slow-motion shuffle through a funhouse queue.

I work there, and enjoy visiting. Always live music or karaōke along with cheap drinks, friendly staff, nice back patio, with a pool table.

pros — good service, cool music, not too expensive, good parking availability. cons — crowd is a little ‘meh’, especially since I’m here on a Saturday night. overall it’s good for a dive bar though

The Goat! Great neighborhood bar with inexpensive drinks. Always have fun bands and the patrons are friendly. Never have to wait too long for a drink and a nice patio out back to boot.

I love this bar. Great music, great people, and unpretentious. I love to go when they have blues bands playing. You are guaranteed to see people of all ages dancing in front of the small stage. I’ve moved away from Dallas and still miss this bar so much!

If you’re looking for a quality, discreet dive bar, look no further. The atmosphere is fun and the music is good. The drinks are great and the people are friendly. I love that this place leaves all the BS to the other places and is just a real down to earth dive.

Hands down the second best dive bar in town. There live music, the musicians that play there are fantastic, the music they play is fantastic. Bartenders are solid and their drinks are good. If you like a dive bar this is your place. Plus they also open up at 7 a.m.

This was on Sunday. Sad the staff was decent but the super bad experience from the karaōke Dj made us NOT like the place.

I believe that this is the hang out spot for the Lakewood locals to go to, I didn’t know what to expect there, but I wasn’t really in the mood for a dive-y like bar for that night. Where it is located is unusual, you have a Whole Foods store right across the street, then you have the million dollar homes just seconds away from the bar. The Goat makes it look like it’s a mix of hipsters and upper class people in the area. Drinks were made very strong, and at a reasonable price. So if you are looking for a chill laid-back bar where live bands may play the blues or country, and where you don’t feel like wearing your clubbing heels and dress, this is the place to kick back in your cowboy boots, jeans, plaid shirts, and maybe cowboy hat.

We really loved this bar. Being that we are visiting from out of state, the patrons and staff were ridiculously welcoming and they were the only reason we stuck around. BUT, we originally came to check it out for the karaōke. There are no other words except«it sucked». The host picks up the mic and sings backup whenever he sees fit only he is #1 off key and #2 way louder than the singers when he attempts to do so. OFFKEY + LOUDANDUNINVITED = Sucky karaōke! Stop dude!!! NOW, I am amending after being here for an hour. It is just getting worse. Again, editing… When we arrived there were 10 people deep in the karaōke rotation. It shouldn’t take an hour and 45 to sing a frickin song! Again. This guy should lose his job. Ok, my review went from 3 – 1. All because the karaōke host is THAT bad.

One place you must not pass up. Super music venue and dive. Plus pizza next door! Any given weekend you’ll find the place busy with regulars and first timers. Parking can get tight and don’t park in the new lot across the street!

The Goat is well, pretty dang awesome. I like to come here on Sunday evenings when they have. get this. LIVEBAND Karaōke. That’s right, belt it out and have a band playing for you! WOO. Well woo. I don’t belt, I have a big aversion of embarrassing myself in front of strangers, but I like to watch other people so I’m fine with going. The beers are cheap as well as the cocktails, they have a nice patio out back if you wanna have a smoke, or just get some smoky air. They don’t have food so if you want something you’re welcome to bring it in(ahem, pizza next door). We also went here for New Years Eve. They had a live band and a few people got up and shook their booty to welcome in the New Year. I don’t judge. I also heard there was a Mayor sighting. Woop! The place is a dive, the bathrooms are pretty stanky and most of the chairs have holes or rips, but again its what I expect when I come, I don’t judge.

Live band night, and what a night it is! A great neighborhood bar that even the mayor of the city loves to attend because of the Jazz talent. Not too crowded that you can’t enjoy yourself and not too loud that you can’t meet new genuine down to earth non pretensions people. Very approachable crowd that loves to dance. Drinks are moderately priced with friendly bartenders. Love this place! Especially kerokee night. Great place to bring a out of town friend, family member or mom and dad.

Don’t knock the karaōke DJ until you’ve been one. Dealing with drunk people for a living isn’t the easiest thing in the world and when you have to make a living doing it, why wouldn’t you favor the regulars who support your show or tip you graciously? Carmen started the show nearly 10 years ago on Sundays at the goat and has built up an amazing following with sheer hard work and determination. I am so proud of her, and I love her because not only is she my favorite karaōke lady, she is my mom.

I wanted to dance my butt off, and I didn’t care if the whole world saw me! If this is how you’re feeling on a Friday night, stop by the Goat. It didn’t disappoint me and most likely it won’t disappoint you. After a rather lowkey night at the nearby Balcony Club, we decided to head over to The Goat for another round of live music and few drinks. It was grimy and pretty far off from fancy, but charming nonetheless. And talk about packed. From wall to wall was a mixed crowd of folks both old and young and equally laid back. Seating was limited but who cares when you can rock out to local bands that are rotated throughout the evening. So. Much. Fun. Seriously a fabulous fun time if you want to dance, twirl and spin about like a crazy person and don’t care how you look. Ha! Needless to say, I’ll be back… Can’t wait to try out karaōke night!
