Well, this place looks like a run of the mill English pub but one look at the food menu and you will do a double take! Mussels in wine? Venison meat loaf? Seared tuna steak salad? Amazing food!!! The mussels are their signature dish — to die for! Great selection of single malt scotches as well!

I was really looking forward to this place but was a bit disappointed. There really wasnt one major flaw with this one but many small things that led to the three star rating. It’s a small place. About seven bar seats and twelve or so tape tops. We arrived around five thirty, they open at five, and the bar was filled up already, not hard to do. One server/bar tender for the entire place which was mostly filled up. It took five minutes till the server came to our table to take our order. We ordered some drinks and and two apps. The apps were the scallop gratin and the jimmys sausage and pasta. The scallops were two dimensional just tasting of cream and bread crumbswith a mild flavor of the scallop coming through. Not very delicious. The pasta was dry and not very tender and the sausage was very dry like the whole dish had just sat under a heat lamp for ten minutes. The average menu price is about $ 20. You would expect the kitchen to be more on point with those kind of prices. Shortly after we arrived it was standing room only and through the whole meal we had to deal with patrons standing over our shoulders hoping we would finish up and leave already. Not really a great way to spend an evening. All in all I would probably put up with this place a little more if I lived close enough or if they were open for lunch, they are not, but I’m not going out of my way for it again.

Favorite neighborhood restaurant in Dallas. The burger is the best in Dallas. Please order other items off menu as well, you won’t be disappointed.

It sucks when the bread gets soggy on a burger. I had a bacon cheeseburger that was delicious and the bread held up until my last bite. It wasn’t a huge burger either. I like that, too. I do not like to struggle to hold the burger. I do not like to have to open my mouth like I’m at the doctor’s office to eat it, either. It wasn’t small and it wasn’t so big the table next to us had to see my tonsils. Perfect size for me. They do have some open wide burgers, too. My friend had the gyro. She said it was very good. This is a pleasant place to have a drink and food. There were some young people and some mature people in the mix, so it wasn’t like lot of places where it seems it’s just one or the other. I think anyone can go there and feel comfortable. There was 80’s music on the jukebox last night though I’m sure they have other selections. I happen to like 80’s music so I was happy with it. They turned down the music some when the place got loud as it is wont to do in a bar. Wow. The music was in the background and could still be heard while we didn’t have to shout at each other to have a conversation. Imagine that. The service was polite, friendly and relaxed. I like it when I’m served by someone who isn’t stiff and all business. If the service is robot-like I feel uncomfortable. That wasn’t the case here. This isn’t fast food. Do expect a wait time for it. You have been warned so don’t give the staff a hard time about it. Per the other reviews we ordered food after our first drink order so it worked out fine for us. I had the burger, a beer and a shot of whiskey. The whiskey portion was a little more than I normally see. That was a happy moment. :) We split a scallop appetizer. It was salty. That’s the only issue I had. My bill was $ 23.00. That’s a bargain! I had dinner somewhere else the evening before and didn’t order any drinks at all and it came to $ 25. Reasonable price, friendly feel and good food. It does what its supposed to do for what it is. Nice. It’s in my neighborhood. YAY! There is a blue plate special on Sundays for $ 7. You can’t beat that with a stick. I’m going back for that today. Good times.

Yes, it’s a neighborhood bar. Just exactly what you think it would be – kinda dark, kitschy and a tad outdated. And if it weren’t for the food, I’m not sure I could eek out that extra star. Service is hit or miss – but one does not expect restaurant service in a bar. You can always depend on the cheese board. And the specials are usually – you know – special. This is our default, possibly because we can stumble home. I love it.

On first glance this place looks like a little hole in the wall, but don’t be fooled. The food is AMAZING! I had the veal meatloaf with truffle mac and it was seriously good! My companions chose the salmon and burgers and all were pleased with their choices. I will have a hard time not getting that moist, tasty meatloaf every time I go. Great beer selection and a wonderful friendly vibe. We will most definitely be back!

Great pub atmosphere. The Wagu Beef Reuben is phenomenal! I had the dressing on the side and believe it would overpower the wonderful meat flavor it it was kept on. A good selection of draft and bottle beers. Service and crowd was good.

Hey, we love this place. I’ve been coming here regularly and have probably eaten the entire menu without disappointment. I strongly suggest a cheese plate to start your meal. The special is always spot on. The place is groovy and has managed to handle a couple different crowd scenes, depending on the time of day, with just the right amount of crossover. A+++ One disappointment this visit… 1:00 Saturday afternoon… Cock & Bull not the same with the added bar lighting…

Belongs in any self-respecting Lakewood pub crawl. Good atmosphere, a few craft on tap, above average food available. We left happy!

I met a friend here for lunch and couple drinks, this place is hidden in the strip mall, so if your like I am, you may pass it once or twice. It’s got a very small sign out front with a «CB». Once inside it had a pub-like feel. Very dark, but clean and very friendly service. They were busy the day I went so service took longer than usual, but it didn’t hurt my experience at all, just if you’re trying it out for the first time, I wouldn’t expect it to be a quick in and out kind of place. The food was wonderful and the prices are low for the amount of food you receive. We started with the seared ahi tuna and I ate the gyro, which is really like two gyros, and insanely delicious for only $ 8. I walked out extremely happy with food in my belly, a nice buzz and leftovers to make the boyfriend happy.

This place caught me and my wife and her friend totally off guard. I wanted to go here to try it out but I had to do some convincing to get them here. Once we were here it was a pleasant surprise that everybody loved. This place has a hole in the wall feel along with having excellent food, good drinks, and wonderful service. We had the cream cheese burger, curry, and shrimp andouille. All of which were wonderful. They have a good selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.

The food is so delicious! They ran out of buffalo before I got there around 6:45pm on a weekday, so that was sad for me. I ended up getting the venison with texas peaches and tomatoes. The meat was cooked perfectly, not super gamey, just right. I’m sure I would have preferred the bison for my $ 26, but this was damn good too. My friend had the mussels — she had mussels on the brain — and their mussels didn’t disappoint. A huge bowl for $ 14 with 4 large foccacia sticks. We found out we could get a side salad for ¾$ which was perfect since neither of us wanted to engage in an $ 8 salad with our meals. The space is kind of dark but friendly. A few singles at the bar and scattered around. They have some TVs to watch sports you can see from some of the bar seats and a few tables in the front. I can’t wait to go back to get the buffalo steak before it all gets gobbled up by the other patrons.

Cute pub but food service is slow. So order right away. If you order a burger don’t expect much fries. You do get more chips. With that said, the burgers are cooked to what you requested and do taste good. Salads are a little hit and miss. Staff is friendly and very helpful with your drinks.

Jamie and I dined here tonight, and it was a pleasant visit: The best stuff: — $ 10 Monday night burg and beer special, awesome — Four Corners IPA, excellent(amazingly, I’d never heard of it) — The guy doing everything in the front, bartending, serving, and tending to everyone’s food and beverage needs: amusing, and very good– I should have asked his name — ambiance and jukebox: old euro-pub-warm, with lots of wood and dark red walls and white Christmas lights. Jukebox was solid with a wide range of 70’s pop. The not best: — A very ordinary $ 15 reuben. Oh well, now we know. We’ll be back, C&B– you rock.

I’m not sure how I forgot to review CnB before. Cock & Bull is everything that a great pub should be. It’s a dim lighted hole in the wall Irish pub that never disappoints. In a day and age when it’s trendy to have over priced drinks, this place is awesome! You can choose from one of the long list of beers that are available, a glass of wine, a glass of good scotch or even one of the best Moscow Mules and Old Fashioned! If you live anywhere in the Lakewood community, you realize that the Cock & Bull menu is anything from average. They boast some of the best food that you’ll ever see in a pub. It’s everything from a wonderful cut of Filet to the best mussels that you’ll taste west of the Rocky Mountains. And there’s plenty on the menu for vegetarians. For all you cheese lovers, they have one of the largest selections of cheese in the Dallas area. Order a cheese plate and a glass of wine. As you can see from some of the pictures I’ve posted, the choices are vast! Cock & Bull offers 2 things that will surprise you. They offer a brunch menu on Saturday & Sunday afternoons. They also have a weekly blue plate special on Sunday evenings. The blue plate is only $ 7 and it changes every week. You either have to check their Facebook page or get on the blue plate text list that Vanessa sends out. Bottom line is this is one of the friendliest pubs. You can come in alone and leave knowing everyone.
