I had no idea this place even existed, let alone that they actually sell some nice things — albeit mixed in with a huge pile of craptastical items. Upon entering, you will likely notice the line, and have a hard time getting into the store due to its voluminous and poorly positioned nature. If you choose to shop despite these clear warning signs, squeeze through and rejoice in the gaudy misses collections. They also sell housewares and men’s apparel. Some good deals on low end ‘designer’ denim(Joe’s) and pillows/bedding, of all things. I think the store’s buyer must be a bit older and a woman given the sheer number of day coats for women. This particular Stein Mart is like if Ross and Nordstrom rack had an illicit extramarital affair and Ross had a baby but drank during the pregnancy, heavily.

I have been going to Steinmart in various cities and locations for years and been happy with it, but I think the quality has deteriorated and I won’t be back. Mainly I purchased jewelry and at first there was decent quality jewelry(such as real turquoise and silver), then lower quality but still wearable and ok for«fashion» jewelry(such as hammered gold-tone jewelry). This last time the vast majority of the jewelry was lower quality than I ever thought I would see at Steinmart and I couldn’t find any reason to return. The weird thing is the jewelry brands are the same as in the past, so all the brands have probably dropped in quality since the last time I went. I have to shop somewhere else. Sorry, Steinmart, you lost a customer.

Stein Mart is not really my kind of place. I don’t buy clothes very often preferring to let them disintegrate with age. But the other day my wife bought a bed sheet set and, as we were putting them on the bed, we realized they were the wrong size. My job was to take them back and exchange them for the right size. I was waited on promptly, found the right size and color and was out of there in no time. A simple and painless transaction.

I need to remind myself that Stein Mart is there. Every time I swing in to see what they have I find all kinds of cute things! They have a great home selection of decorator items & linens. I always see something cute that I think would make a great gift for a friend and several things for myself. The jewelry and watch selection is large. Mostly costume jewelry and name and no name brand watches. You are sure to find a cute pair of earrings or a necklace to go with any outfit. The accessories selection is larger than most places. Unique items and cute gifts. The shoe selection has a great variety from dress shoes to boots and sandals. Clothing is high quality, designer names and a large selection. This place is a great option when you need something fresh to wear but do not have time to trek through the entire mall. The reason this place is not 4 Star for me is their refund policy. I firmly believe that if you pay with a debit card you should get cash back or at least have that option when you return something. I cannot stand having to hold onto the receipt and wait for the credit to post to my account. I feel like it is a hassle for the customer.

Never again! I’m new to Dallas, and a friend suggested Stein Mart because she had a coupon. All I needed was a nice pair of black slacks. As soon as I walked into the store, I knew I’d made a mistake. All of the clothes looked like things that my mother and grandmother would wear, but none of it appealed to me. A lot of cheap fabric and loud, obnoxious patterns. I asked an employee for assistance locating some black slacks. The selection was limited, and none of the slacks fit well. This store does not carry small sizes, like 0 or 1. Since I was desperate, I picked up the smallest pair that I could find. I waited for about 10 minutes to pay for my purchase. Only two registers were open, and both lines were moving very slowly. After finally paying, I headed to Northpark Mall. I immediately found what I was looking for, and for a cheaper price. Today, I went back to Stein Mart to return the pants. There were three employees at the front, but only two registers were open. I asked the one who wasn’t on a register if she could process my return, but she said that she only processed exchanges. So I got in line, and waited for about ten minutes. Once again, both lines were moving very slowly. Finally, the clerk who wasn’t on a register called a fourth employee to her register. This woman processed my exchange, and she complained about the clerk who was just standing around. Even the employees are dissatisfied by their co-workers’ customer service skills; of course the customers will be too. Never again, Stein Mart.

I’ve been going to this Steinmart for years and always find something suitable for work or an event that needs some loud obnoxious outfit that I normally wouldn’t find anywhere else. After maneuvering through the racist old ladies with blue hair and their maids I have to endure their consistently horrid check out line. To return an item(w/receipt) you have to fill out paperwork and stand there waiting on a manager to approve the refund while other customers stack up behind you. Never buy anything unless you have 15 minutes to spare in case you’ll return it. The cashiers are ALWAYS slow! I’ve never bought more than 4 – 5 items at a time but it consistently takes them a full 5+ minutes for a simple transaction. The fact that several people are always waiting in line doesn’t speed them up at all but yesterday I had enough! The cashier brushes off an old lady in a wheelchair to another line because she let someone go to their car to search for a coupon that ended up being invalid. Grrr! Then I’m standing there waiting my turn with items on the counter when the cashier stops to sort hangers, straighten her register, move a box and dump some security tags in a box, all at a glacial pace. As exciting as it was to see how slow she could move while the line grew even longer I finally had to let a couple of expletives fly before she’d stop to check me out. It’s so bad I think shoplifting could be condoned! No telling how long it would take them to call the cops.

when i was fancy, i used to buy only Lucky brand. but then, downsizing, blah blee bloo, no more $ 120 jeans for me. but i was desperate for jeans, you guys. i just got a new job and i can wear jeans, and im-a be honest. i love target. but i do not want to wear Merona jeans, even to work. so i was driving home from fed ex in garland and realized that stein mart was on my way. it couldn’t hurt, i thought. at the very least i could get some work jeans. they had so many jeans, y’all! seven, lucky, joe’s earl, rock/republic… i left with a pair of seven jeans that are awesome for work and a pair of anne klein jeans that are a little more fancy. for $ 70! forget ross and marshall’s and all those loser places. i love me some stein mart!
