Awful. Terrible. The only good thing about this bar and why I assume they’re still in business is because of the spectacular view of the Dallas skyline. Let me Tarantino this review– My fiancé put an extraordinary amount of effort(and money) into turning my birthday weekend into something special. Part of the reason we stayed at the NYLO South Side was because of this bar and the amazing view. Our stop here was going to be the cherry on top of a whirlwind weekend of being wined and dined. But instead the weekend of feeling like a sophisticated adult ended with us feeling like drunk college students and not in a fond memory kind of way. The bar itself is not well maintained. The drinks are over-priced(even for Dallas) and poured into plastic cups. Even my wine was poured into a PLASTIC wine glass! The patrons are a mix of your typical Dallas night club folks mixed with older people trying to recapture their youth. After we spent over $ 20 on two drinks, I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there and back to our room. Luckily since our drinks were in plastic cups we took a few pictures of the skyline and headed out, never ever to return again! I was truly disappointed with the SODA Bar because I had been looking forward to it all night and the NYLO had done such an amazing job of being so detail-oriented and accommodating that I was expecting nothing less from the bar that sits atop their roof. I suggest you take you $ 20 to a better bar unless you’re into terrible service and bad drinks.

Great bar at top of NyLo. For a hotel bar, the food was great. Really enjoyed the peso to flatbread. Generous portion. We also shared the wings — not anything too exciting there. But the view makes up for it!!!

Swanky décor, an exceptional view and beautiful lighting are the main draws of this rooftop hotel bar/restaurant. Last night I finally got to try the food menu and was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable pricing and late night menu options. I went for the bbq ranch salad and the bruschetta. The bruschetta was delicious: avocado spread, cherry tomatoes, balsamic dressing and jam-packed with flavor… though I would have preferred crunchier bread. It became soggy almost instantaneously. The salad was decent, generously portioned, but not completely memorable. SODA is a solid three stars for food, but the wonderful service we experienced along with the exceptional view and vibe bumped our experience up to a solid four stars. Definitely a great date spot for cocktails and happy hour.

You can’t play unless you stay at the hotel… and you don’t want to stay here. It’s in the middle of nowhere and the sidewalk from the public parking lot to the hotel smells like piss. Nice view… but you can get that just about anywhere.

Terrible experience. Went up there looking to check out the view and get a drink and the view was the only thing worth a crap. Stood at the bar waiting for service and waited 20+ minutes to get 1 drink for myself and 1 for my girlfriend. I told the bartender my order within 2 minutes and it took him 18 to get it to me. When I finally got my drinks I gave my card and asked to close out as we were already aggravated and wanted to slam the drink and get out ASAP. Took them another 15 minutes to run my card and get it to me. Absolutely the worst service I’ve had at a bar in DFW. To top it off I got 2 crappy cocktails with cheap liquor in 10 oz clear plastic cups you get from Walmart and the bill was a whopping $ 25. This place flat out sucks. No other way to describe it.

I can’t believe I have never heard of this place! Its off Lamar and if your in the area, please stop in and go up to the 6th floor where there is the most beautiful view of Downtown Dallas! SODA Bar has a very small pool area where you can put your feet in and enjoy looking around at all Dallas has to offer! So if you love rooftop pools, check this one out. Especially at night time!!!

Great view but I don’t recommend it for food! There are better places in Dallas to eat

Last night my boss was in town with a few of my co workers and they really wanted to see Dallas so I brought them here. I have to say the view is amazing here. My co workers from San Diego loved it. We made it just in time to watch the sunset and get some great pictures. While it was in the middle of summer they had misting fans set up and it wasn’t so bad to sit outside. The drinks are no different then you would find anywhere else and the food is just okay. Everything is a bit overpriced but definitely worth it for the view and ambiance. Unfortunately they are usually understaffed so you should walk up to the bar and order if you don’t want to wait forever. The 5 stars is literally because I think this is one of the best views of Dallas skyline plus you don’t have to pay to get in. It’s also has a pool and great to have a pool party or come when there is a live DJ or band. I also brought friends from New York here when they visited and surprising they loved it too! If you want to impress guests or take someone on a great date definitely try NYLO South Side at the Soda Bar!

I was visiting for the weekend from New York and I was searching for cool bars to go to. After walking a mile in the rain to get here, it was totally worth it.(There are also other bars in the area) Just from the hotel lobby, I loved the décor and the atmosphere, but remember, I didn’t even get to the bar yet. I take the elevator up, check in with the bouncer(there is no cover charge) and go out to the rooftop deck. It wasn’t raining anymore because the weather in Dallas is so bizarre. but everything was wet. They gave us towels(normally for pool users) and we were able to pick just about any seat because there was so much space for everyone. We were amazed by the brightly lit infinity pool and the vibe we got from the rest of the bar. We saw all of Dallas from our seats and it is gorgeous at night! The music was awesome, the drinks were delicious and cheap(8 – 10 $ for a mixed drink is cheap when you come from nyc) and it turned out to be a beautiful night. A cab ride from here to reunion tower is only $ 10 something. I’ll take it!

Love the view. And drinking by a pool is always nice, especially at night! They have decent music playing and the rooftop bar is super cool. There’s a fire pit, two cabanas, six or eight high top tables and a few seats at the bar. They also have several high tops inside by the TVs, which are also very cool. This whole vibe is like something in Beverly Hills. It’s not made for more than 100ish people, but I’ve been here with more than that and there was still some standing room. Two negatives: 1: Too much cigarette smoking. I realize that over half of it is outside, but maybe being a Dallasite has spoiled me. I do not expect to breathe or smell like other people’s nasty ass cigarettes. 2: They still keep your credit card when you open a tab. Another thing that maybe I’m just spoiled on. Most places swipe it and give it back. On a super busy night it’s very difficult to get it back. I’d rather just leave and have them add a 25% tip. It’s a win/win. Overall this place rocks. Take the DART or an Über, have a few drinks, then get back to Uptown where the neighborhood is safer to bar hop. I’ve not had a disappointing evening here yet.

Amazing view! To explain the plastic glasses — it’s a health regulation for any pool and the infinity pool is very pretty! Totally worth plastic cups! The manager was very friendly & welcoming. Would come again!

This place was sooo empty, probably because I came on a Tuesday night and it was a little chilly to be on a rooftop bar. All the tables outside were empty and most people were standing around a big firepit or inside by the bar. The male to female ratio was probably 7:1, and it seemed like more than half of the people there were over 40. I ordered the flirtini, and it tasted very sweet like rock candy, but I still enjoyed it. There is a small pool here but nobody was in it because it was cold. The view of downtown Dallas is pretty neat though, and I’d come here just to see it again.

Nice rooftop setting. Kind of quiet for a Friday night but then again the weather was not permitting a lot. Fun people watching and my server was extremely attentive and gave me the hotspots on where to go while visiting! Pool should be open next month and was told that it was popping with bikini bottoms every night. May check it out when the heat comes back!

Good rooftop bar that has an awesome view of the Dallas skyline They open around 3−4PM even though the sign says noon. Maybe its because we were in the winter like months and the temps went to the high 70s in Feb. Love the pool and the pool chairs around it… wasn’t hot enough for us to take a dip so we just chilled. Server was cool and got me drinks even though he was just setting up.

Located inside the nylo hotel down the south side Lamar area this bar has the very best views in Dallas. v From the rooftop bar you can see the whole city skyline and with an illuminated rooftop pool it certainly makes for a cool scene. Unlike other reviews I found the staff friendly and the drinks good(haven’t tried the food) My biggest problem with the soda bar and the only reason it didn’t get 4 stars is that they serve the drinks in clear plastic(and flimsy) cups. I am sure they have good reason as I seem to remember this didn’t happen when it first opened. Maybe too much broken glass by the pool or something but still. … if I am paying top prices(which they are) for a cocktail I don’t expect it to be served in plastic. In this case I had ordered a French 75, which is a champagne cocktail and whatever their reasons it just doesn’t work charging $ 12 for a champagne drink in a plastic glass. They need to find a way to fix this(maybe switch to plastic only if you go outside by the pool.. We were inside on a cold winters night) Other than that issue this bar is lovely and I would certainty return more if they fixed the drink policy.

Most of the previous reviews have stated all the positives* already, so I will address some of the negatives… 1NOISELEVEL is a silly criticism for a BAR(pleeezz!) especially a hotel bar. It all depends on the day, time of day and if there is an event in progress. I’ve enjoyed the SODA(btw, SOuth DAllas) Bar when it was rather quiet, peaceful and serene AND loud active with music pumping. 2PLASTICCUPS; did that reviewer notice… THEPOOL?! Serving drinks in glassware would be a law suit in the making. When first opened, very good quality(almost glass-like) reusable plasticware was used. But, I heard that so many people ‘liked’ those right out the door that they had to resort to the current disposal plastic. We all suffer from the tackiness of others. * In addition to the fabulous view, I’ve always received excellent service at SODA Bar. The arugula salad, mussels and molten lava cake are my meal favorites. The drinks are priced comparable to other locations in the neighborhood… high, but ‘craft’ costs!

Waited for an hour to get an appetizer. The view was great, the drinks were strong in a good way. Not the only view in town. I’ll keep looking. Obviously leaning on the view here. Good luck.
