This place is skanky. It seemed kind of nice(if not full of plastic people) when it opened. I went last week and wondered what happened. The wood floor on the street level was completely buckled to the point of being a hazard. The bar on the street level smelled a little like someone puked in some rotten garbage(but only faintly). The toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a month. So why the popularity? The people here are HOT. Not really my crowd but definitely a See’s shop full of eye candy Even the bartender looked like the front of Maxim magazine. The drinks are fairly strong even though a bit overpriced. This is a decent place for people watching. However, after leaving you will need a shower, in more ways than one.

On a spontaneous bar hop through uptown we ended up in the West Village and then headed down to Social House to be… social. and have a drink. I had no idea that the west village was such a happenin’ place on the weekends. With all the outdoor seating available, which was full of happy and cute drinkers, it made sense. Social house is clean and comfortable, and did remind me of a, slightly generic, college party. Sexy eye candy was at hand, goes good with Ace pear on draft. Go downstairs in the basement bar and meet some more cute people. I was expecting more of a douche bag thing actually.

Two stars for service and drinks. Four stars for people watching. Man, this place was chock-full of awesometown peeps to make fun of.(Wait, what? Was that my outside voice again?) But seriously, I felt like we were at a frat house party uninvited. It was obvious that that 95% of the crowd all knew one another and had been at the pool all day. It was 11pm and swim suits and sun glasses were still on… and the stench of tanning oil and beer filled the air. Not ready to go home from Sunday Funday quite yet, are we? The bartender was drunk. And when I say drunk, I mean she couldn’t find the white wine I requested. And when she did, she discovered it had been sitting on the counter and turned warm. Thankfully, she was smart enough to have the bar back pull a cold one. Had I not been standing there though, there’s a good chance a warm glass would have been delivered to my table. Then halfway through our hour-long visit, the drunk girl at the table next to us call us «bitches» without any reason at all. I chuckled it off, which only made her angrier. Aren’t drunk people funny?

The food was really good here. This was my second time to come for brunch and I was not disappointed. They changed their menu since the last time I came and I was a little sad to see the tacos gone, but I got the corn beef hash and it was so good. I got it with over easy eggs and I wish I could make them as well as they did. The bottomeless mimosa defiantly helped as well. It was not very crowded, but my friend did meet a guy there and she hung out with him the rest of the night! I would have probably give them 5 stars, but the waitress was a b*tch. The first time I went the waitresses were super nice, but this time was not the same. I recommend this place for brunch. THe mimosas are $ 10 for bottomless and the food is great.

I would had more fun if it wasn’t so crowded. I think they let people in even if they are over their maximun of occupancy. Shoulder to shoulder. The doorman is hardly at the door. Anyone can walk in! It’s a nice joint, but way too crowded to have fun. The place is better on the weekdays when you want to hang out with your friends and is less crowded. There’s a bar downstairs. It’s dark and crowded with only one way out. COUNTMEOUT. I’ll stay upstairs.

Hooray! My first review =) I’m so happy that it’s for Social House… which is now my offical home away from home =) *wink* I remember when this place used to be Nakita in West Village. When it was first announce that this new gastropub was making it’s debut in Dallas, I never thought twice about it… if only I had ventured there sooner! First visit to Social House was in January… went there on a Monday to follow Jonny 5 from 12inchPimps…$ 5-u-call-it’s were VERYSTIFF! OMG… not a heavy drinker by any means, so 2 was enough for me! Good vibes, good music, great drinks… and even better than this… AMAZINGSERVICE. Thank you, Dillon… amazing manager. Thank you, Angela… my favorite bartender… please visit her at the back bar… Mr. Bartender at the front bar… thank you for your crazy concoctions! FOODREPORT: A group of us went there to eat for the Cowboys playoff game… we had the appetizer sampler… yummy buffalo calamari… I had never eaten anything like it before! Also, the duck confit nachos were amazing. Main course — stuffed chicken. PERFECT! I was stuffed! And happy. My friends and I have been going to Social House quite often since January. If you feel like sitting at one of the booths and chatting it up, great place for this… also great if you wanna push some tables outta the way and dance, dance, dance, baby! Social House is what you make it… just like home =) FYI…definately try to go whenever they have food and drink specials… it will really REALLY help you when you go there =)

I wish I could give this place two reviews — one for the food and one for the bar. I’ll start with the bar. Should you go to Social House? Well, if you are a $ 30,000 millionaire who drives a 3 series, lives in a 2 bedroom Post apartment, and thinks Ed Hardy is high fashion — then yes, you would love Social House. This place is like Staten Island with southern accents. Skip the bar scene and work your way down McKinney to The Gingerman or Idle Rich. HOWEVER, the food is fantastic. The porkchops with white truffle mashed potatoes are particularly delicious. I was there for dinner last night and the waiter mentioned Social House will be changing their menu and reducing their prices. New menu is set to premier this Friday, February 26th. My advice: Go early to eat and get the hell out of doge before the Snookie’s of Dallas show up.

If you are needing an Ed Hardy or Affliction shirt fix, step right up. This is the place for you. Came here on a Friday night and can honestly say, I have never seen so many tight shirts concentrated in one area in my life. And the ladies, beautiful tall vixens that are nicely dolled up. This place isn’t my cup of tea. The crowd they attract there aren’t my type of people. Some would call them the doushebags sort, but no one caused me any grief there, so no comment. The bartenders there are pretty nice though, and they let me in wearing some pretty hood clothes. So that was cool. If you want to be seen with the beautiful people, this is the place for you. But I’m more of a The Loon type person, so if you are like me, just avoid this place.

Social House is located in the old Nikita space in West Village, land of the popped collar dudes and plastic bitches. If you are looking for laid back, this ain’t it. If you are looking for loud dance music and a somewhat snobby crowd then you have found your new favorite place! I think in the past I might have dug this scene a bit more, but now I just can’t get into it. We were downstairs for the duration of the night. The space is nice and when it isn’t on a weekend night it can actually be pretty chill. The bartender was alright — he made a tasty drink and wasn’t jerky at all. Other than that I interacted with only my friends because I just wasn’t feeling the place. Blah. Basically I would not go here on a weekend again unless forced. But I can still have fun here as long as I bring my friends with me and am not forced to talk to the people already here!

Loved the stuffed chicken and the lean burger! Service was great and although it wasn’t really my type of crowd I could see why this spot was so popular. Trendy music and a pretty staff that serves stiff drinks makes me a fan! This is a good spot to start the night off or a chill Sunday hangout place.

Stumbled in here last night(literally) after the Mavs game with some coworkers. Cool looking spot… not much happening on a Tuesday night though, but there was a few people at the bar downstairs and they had karaoking going on, and after a few more shots, I ended up finding myself singing some Bön Jovi. The bar is a little long and there was only one bartender so service was a bit slow, but not unbearable.

This place isn’t as bad as some people say. Yes sure it’s full of plastics and douchelords, but that’s a given for this area on weekend nights. The fiancée and I came here early on Saturday evening before catching a flick at the Magnolia and found a nice spot on the patio. The $ 5 beer was steep, but again, that’s a given for this area. It wasn’t too crowded so we got to enjoy ourselves outside while people watching. We left to the movie before it got too crowded and when we came out it was indeed packed. Come here to hang out on the patio, so long as it’s early, and don’t fault them for the crowd, it is a very nice spot in West Village.

I would give it a 3.5 stars out of 5 of this place. I would give it a 5 if I feel that I fit in the yuppy crowd driving fancy cars, wearing fancy clothes, living in fancy condos and claiming to have fancy jobs who are probably in debt and and a slight possibility of living on food from the vending machine. Most of the people hanging out here live around the West Village area. If you enjoy the seen and be seen kind of place, you’re gonna love it. Drinks are way overpriced — $ 5 for a beer, $ 9 for the malibu pineapple that I ordered. Luckily there’s no cover charge. My friend, Kristine, and I first came here, we felt kind of out of place because of the atmosphere. A guy approached us asking us where we are from, and we said Addison. Accoridng to the West Village standards, we came from a completely different part of town it’s like the West Village hasn’t really come out of the bubble. Yet. Overall, I don’t hink I’d be going there so often.

Ok so check it… this place is RIGHT in the middle of all the West Village hoopla…(ex: extensive people watching, flashy cars, douchelords and everyone is yelling at everyone.) Don’t get me wrong, I heart West Village, I’m there every weekend, but just a disclosure. Always be prepared… that’s my motto. Basically, it’s overpriced, mediocre bar food. Really. You wish this place would knock your socks off. The food isn’t THAT bad, but with everything else around why would you go here? I mean… Tom Tom… Village Burger Bar… Cru…Taco Diner… oh gosh, I’m getting the sweats just thinking about all the other options. We had a hot waitress who I believe was hired, not for her serving skills, but to attract… she’s the bait, goin fishin. Large open patio that sits RIGHT next to Taco Diner. I lost count at how many people stared in her direction as they walked by… then eventually took a seat on said patio. My cocktails were good… can’t remember what I had. Nor can I remember what I ate. Oh, but I do remember we had the calamari to start… super, you fried it. Great job. Served with tomato sauce? How flashy. That pretty much says it all. I do remember going inside asking where the restroom was and the bartender goes«See the sign(pointed)…it’s right there.» UMOK! THANKS! Apparently I didn’t go to college to learn to read… Not quite sure if I’ll be back. I like to try everything once, but not sure if this is worth a second shot. Unless Taco Diner goes out of business.

Haha… i’m reading the reviews for this place and it’s got a lot of bad reviews. =? Well, I stopped by on Monday bcs a friend was bartending there. Free appetizer from 10 – 11 Free 3 olive grape shots from 11 – 12 I had to stop by of course! Seems like a very laid back joint… but then again, it was just Monday. But i can see how this place is a meat market though as more people started to show up around midnight.

Was heading for Village Burger bar when I passed this place. From the window it looked like hardly anyone was inside and I thought it must be new. The menu posted looked decent so we went in. Turns out upstairs is a bar, but downstairs is the restaurant(and two more bars I guess?) The atmosphere was nice. The menu and atmosphere reminded me a little of Kenny’s Woodfired grill in Addison It was Friday night around 8:30 and while we had to park almost at the top of the parking garage, it wasn’t very busy and we got a nice booth with ease. Our server was nice and attentive. We started with a smoked brisket and cheddar queso. Our thought was, «how can it be bad?» and it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as good as I hoped either. It was missing something, but we couldn’t decide what. We asked for some tobasco but it didn’t really add what we were looking for. Maybe sour cream would have done it. Unlike many appetizers like this, it came with enough chips for the dip which was nice.(Most places will bring you more on request, but no need for that here.) The menu had lots of good sounding stuff. On special was a Salmon that sounded good and was much cheaper than the Salmon on the main menu(and with a better sounding glaze). I was going to get that until the server mentioned that it was actually a salad. Also on the menu was a stuffed chicken that sounded like chicken cordon bleu, a pork chop, a burger, fish and chips, and more. My friend was going to get the pork chop but we were told they were out of them. I ended up getting fish and chips and my friend got the stuffed chicken. My fish was decent. Well battered and while a touch soggy where it sat on the plate, not as bad as some places. The pieces were nicely shaped for easy dipping in the tartar sauce. It came with plenty of fries. They were small, nearly shoestring fries. They were served in a ceramic crock which served to keep them warm through the meal which was a nice touch. The chicken was served on a bed of risotto which was apparently quite good and the chicken was«pretty good» too. Their dessert offerings consisted of cheesecake, crème brûlée, and berries and cream. More or less the traditional offerings at every restaurant these days it seems. I had hoped for something more interesting like a chocolate lava cake or something. But no such luck. Maybe I lucked out, I didn’t see any of the problems others mentioned in reviews. I would go back. It’s not cheap, but nothing is in that area.

My friend and I had a long day of bridal shower(for her not me) and decided we wanted to have a drink. I had seen Social House while eatin tacos and drinkin Mambo Taxi’s next door and wanted to try it. It was a nice day but the outside was totally packed so we chose a small table just inside. The service was, well, pretty dang slow. Yes the outside was packed but the inside area where we were sitting was empty other than the two of us and we watched a couple of bartenders chitter-chattering and ignored us for a while. We weren’t really wanting brunch but were hungry from filling out all the little address cards at the bridal shower so decided to split the smoked salmon. It was pretty good and they even de-boned it for us(she’s doing atkins– I’m not). And the capers were almost flash fried. They weren’t straight out of the bottle and musy but weren’t greasy either. We both took turns trying to decide how they became the salty crunchy little tasty bits that they were. Would I go back? Probably. Would I seek it out specifically? Probably not. But the bruch does go until late in the day. so if I had a horrific hangover and all the other brunch places were done brunching I’d probably go. :)

The Pros: Nice space, good drinks, nice bartenders, good music, and hot guys. The Cons: Before mentioned guys just stand around and stare at each other. Hello! Learn some social skills and actually TALK to somebody. All in all, I would give this place another try.

The drinks are expensive, the music is loud and teeth-rattling, and you’ll spend a lot of time dodging deadly razor-sharp faux-hawks. Dig the wide-open-to-the-outside entryway though.

I am surprised to see I am the first to review of Social House, but here goes! I went on a Saturday night around midnight and had a good time!((I went to the Old Nikita(Naked Sundays!) a few times so it was the same layout, but a very different feel.)) We were just having a chill night and decided to check it out. They have a little section outside, but we went downstairs and had a nice booth to sit and chat. It wasn’t too packed and you could actually move around and hear each other. I can see it getting popular and it getting crowded, but I don’t think enough people know about it yet. It’s seemed like a really cool place to have a drink before you go out. They played a cool mix of music — some hip-hop, top 40, alternative. I enjoyed it. They had flat screens with ESPN on so it gave it kind of a sports bar vibe. Lighting was good, not too dark. It kind of reminded me of Lotus, but Lotus is a like a more upscale version of Social House if that makes sense. Check it out!
