Good decent BBQ in the Uptown area. I had the sausage and the ribs. The meat falls off the bone and the sausage was good. The two meat platter is enough for one person. You can eat inside or eat in the enclosed patio outside. They offer plenty of side dishes as well: spinach, mac and cheese, okra, cole slaw, beans. The food is good but not stellar for Texas BBQ standards.

I really wanted to like this place. I have some coworkers that enjoy coming here. Came in today and had the brisket and sausage plate for lunch. I picked the avocado tomato salad and loaded mashed potatoes for my sides. Not impressed by the bbq sauce at all, the brisket was so fatty I really couldn’t eat it, the sausage literally(I’m not kidding) tastes like a warmed up large hot dog. Same consistency and taste… So what did I do? I nibbled on the meats a little and ate pickles and my sides. The side salad was actually incredibly good. Every bit of it from the the freshness to the dressing was awesome! The loaded mashed potatoes were really good too. No complaints on the sides at all. I can’t see trying it again since the meat didn’t work though. It may be how some people like it but I’m a Mike Andersons fan and this just didn’t do it for me. Nice staff and a cute little lizard when we walked in to greet us!

My Saturday lunch favorite(and the servings are generous enough that I’ve got Sunday leftovers too). The brisket is cooked to perfection(I ask for lean meat but you’ve got a choice) and the sauce is a wonderful mixture of tangy, spicy with a hint of sweet(and not too thick). The ribs are tender and the meat drops from the bone without being overcooked. Sausage and pork too. It’s all good. Fried okra and spinach salad sides are my usual. But they’ve got all sorts of selections. The staff are great and it’s atmosphere is roadside«bbq joint». The only thing that confused me at first was the ordering line but they were great and walked me through it and now I’m a pro. Go on… you know you want bbq now.

My Mom’s favorite BBQ place near Baylor Hospital was sadly replaced with a high rise building and she was super hungry since she was fasting for a procedure so I Unilocaled near by BBQ places and was thrilled with Sammy’s! The ribs and brisket were amazing! The owner and staff were extremely friendly and even the dog greeted us! It takes a lot for me to post a review and Sammy’s gets my vote!

Amazing food! Even better customer service! I don’t know how many times I’ve called Marshall freaking out with a last minute catering order, and he is always calm and ready to deliver! Highly recommend them. Keep it up guys!

One of the better BBQ spots in Texas I’ve been to in a while! Since I had some time before my flight home on Saturday, I decided to stop by and pick up some good ol’ Texas ‘Q since we have a serious lack of good BBQ in the Bay Area. I know, I know, I was one of those annoying people on the plane with smelly food, but I made sure to put the plastic bag in an overhead bin with no other bags. I came around 11:30am, and they weren’t super busy at the time so there was no line to order. I tried the 2 Meat Plate(w/Sliced Brisket, Ribs, Potato Casserole, Potato Salad, $ 12.95, ), which came with a TON of food. The sliced brisket was delicious, and had a good amount of fat(I asked for the fatty brisket). It was flavorful and super tender– WAY better than Hard Eight and other places I’ve been to recently. The ribs were also flavorful, tender, and delicious– both are highly recommended! The potato casserole was heavy, but solid, and I loved their potato salad. Although it was a bit heavy on the mayo and could have used more salt, it was still a good version. I hope to definitely return at some point to try their other BBQ items, and get their ribs & brisket again. They have a good amount of indoor and covered patio seating, as well as a good sized parking lot.

My family are visiting Dallas, and we gotta try some local BBQ. After comparing some places, I pick Sammy’s for our first experience. Ordering at the counter and staff service is very friendly. The brisket and ribs don’t disappoint — quite tasty, tender and moist. You get only one choice of sauce. The pickles are good. There’s an open area in the back if you want to outdoor feel. The building needs an upgrade. Once nice surprise is that our two kids get some free ice-cream for desert. This place proves that you need not waste 40min standing inline(Pecan Lodge) for decent food.

I’m admittedly from a part of the country where there isn’t a cult of BBQ, but this was just about the best I’ve ever had. The sliced brisket, especially the fatty parts around the edge, were pretty incredible.

Love this place! Not only is the food great but the people who work here are so genuinely nice. I am always able to zip in and out during lunch time which makes this an easy choice. Thanks Sammys!

Had the ribs, brisket, and hot link with side of corn, onion rings, spinach salad and some cheesy potatoes. It was good and worth the half mile walk from downtown. The rib plate comes with 4 ribs. Now if you do the two-meat combo with ribs u get 3 ribs and the three-meat combo with ribs includes 2 ribs.

The brisket is the best I’ve had so far in the DFW area. It is truly amazing. The fried okra has a wonderful taste and texture. The Zucchini casserole, for me, tops off this meal. I’ve tried several of the sides and haven’t found one I don’t like. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Be aware they are only opened for a few hours, and there is usually a line.

Needing a BBQ fix? Then Sammys is ready to help. Very reasonably priced. Loved the ribs & the brisket. The pork loin also hit the mark. There are plenty of sides to choose from. If you want to bring yourself right back to a Thanksgiving meal, get the zucchini casserole. The pickle bar has lots of choices, there is plenty of tea, soft drinks, beer & wine. And the smoky aroma wafting through every nook and cranny just brings it all together.

Brisket was great, okra great, sausage tasted like hot dogs and ribs reheats! They just fell apart, couldn’t even hold on bone! Reheats at lunch! Fail!!! Potato salad very good fresh tea! Don’t serve reheats at main lunch time if it’s to overdone

LOCATION — prime location one block away from all the nice hotels in Uptown Dallas. They have indoor and outdoor seating, which was nice on a very hot, humid afternoon. I came at 12:30pm and the line was LITERALLYOUTTHEDOOR! I would estimate about 40 people in line ahead of us(that’s always comforting to see when you are eating here for the first time.) FOOD — The food was good, I had the BBQ Brisket, potato salad, and the beans. The food is served cafeteria style, so you can see all the options in front of you. I was a little disappointed with the beans because the menu said BBQ Beans, but they were serving regular Pinto Beans. The brisket was very good, and worth the wait in line. I also had apple pie for dessert which was DELICIOUS. There are quite a few meat options, and side options. I think I would try another bbq spot if I returned to Texas, but it was definitely worth the money and wait.

There’s so many BBQ spots in Texas it takes a lot to stand out. We were in the area to eat at Pecan Lodge, but 100 people in line prompted us to look elsewhere. We ended up at Sammy’s and while it’s not the best BBQ Texas serves, it’s a strong average and ions better than places like Dickey’s. Sammy’s is a lunch-only option that succeeds at delivering large portions of affordable meats and sides. There’s also offer ample seating. You’ll be able to eat right away and in the presence of friendly staff. Between seven of us, we sampled most of the menu and found the chopped meat(brisket) to be the best of the bunch. The turkey is ok, nowhere near as tasty as at Rudy’s, but nothing to complain about, either. The pork ribs were tender, but fatty(if you don’t mind the fat, you’ll love these!) We found the sausage to be be so-so. Basically, all the meats will fill you up and won’t break the bank, but nothing is out of this world. What we did like was for a fair amount you can order three meats and two sides and still spend less than $ 12. Consider that the sides are a salad or a full cob of corn or large side of potato casserole and there’s value. Even the fried okra tasted good(wasn’t greasy). Try and save room for dessert. The pecan pie is homemade and worth every bite. For those who hasn’t been here, Sammy’s is a cafeteria style spot. There’s no table service, but they do clean up after you. You’ll find ample parking even during peak lunch hours. It’s a great place to bring the family and friends for lunch and promises to fill you up. Most will end up heading home with a doggie bag.

WOW! i’m not much of a bbq person but this place is a win in my book. my BF usually comes here for lunch & decided to take me this past weekend. I got the sliced brisket w/potato casserole & cole slaw. the brisket was very tender and the sauce was good as well. It wasn’t too sweet. My BF said their spinach salad is the best side they have in his opinion, but we were sad they ran out :(maybe i’ll get to try it next time! I’m definitely coming back here soon.

My previous experience must have been a fluke because we have ordered twice more with them for corporate catering and they have been on time and very friendly. Our last order I was a bit worried that we did not have enough because we had some big eaters and Sammy’s rushed out 3 more pounds of meat and a side of beans in about 10 minutes. It arrived just in time for our lunch to start. Love it! Very good customer service.

God I love this place! Today I stopped in to pick up a quick order to go and I was blown away! Now, I’ve been to this place many times over the years but NEVER have I had the type of reaction that I had today. They had a sign posted that they were featuring«borracho brisket» so I ordered a $ 6 sliced beef sandwich with the«special» brisket. I actually MOANED(moaned I tell you!), when I took my first bite of this sandwich. Wow!!! I’m not exaggerating — this brisket was incredible! The BBQ here has always been good, but not this good! The meat was sliced thick and piled high on my bun and it was so tender it practically melted in my mouth! The bark on the outer edges was nice and dark and it had just the right amount of fat to make it juicy and not dry(like I’ve had in the past). This brisket was just as good as anything I’ve tried at The Slow Bone or Pecan Lodge. I just can’t use enough adjectives to describe how incredible it tasted. I waited until I got to work to eat it and one of my co-workers walked by and said, «Mmmmm, that smells so good!» as I had bbq sauce & grease smeared all over my face! But I didn’t ker! Also ordered a side order of their fried okra. It’s the best around in my opinion! If you go here and they’re featuring the burracho brisket, you won’t regret trying it!
