This is my favorite Mico Cina location! For whatever reason, I have found that the quality of food is much better here than the other locations. I don’t go here as much as I used too simply because of how popular it is. On an average night, you can expect to wait 30 minutes to an hour for a table. During that time you can wonder around the beautiful luxury retail stores or just grab a drink at the bar either down stairs or on the 3rd floor. I love that they added the 3rd story bar– the Monkey Bar– however, that can also get super crowded if you go during a popular time. But if it’s an off-hour, it is a great spot to grab a drink and catch up with friends. The servers are all very nice and attentive. My favorite dish is the brisket tacos. In my opinion, they are the best in Dallas. I also love the Rico Salad with a mix of the Italian and chili-lime vinaigrette dressings. And of course, you can never go wrong with the queso.

Came in here for my birthday with with my family a few weeks back and had a really great time! I got the enchilada’s, huge portion, super filling and very tasty. Must of had at least 3 margarita’s and they were delicious as well. This was my parents first time to Dallas and they loved it! It’s very nice inside too, classy, nice outdoor seating as well and great location, kinda feels very Beverly Hill’s-ish.

Went up to the top floor bar to have margaritas, which were delightful, but was a little disappointed by the service. Nobody came back to check up on us until we finished our drinks. Margaritas packed a punch, however.

Love the restaurant but not for a large group, esp this location. They do not take reservations for any size group and did not accommodate us with plenty of time waiting in the bar. Felt as though they did not care – as long as we were in the bar drinking and eating apps they were seating other parties. Seemed like they have a regular clientele and don’t need the business.

Had lunch with the family at the local Mi Cocina and had a pretty good lunch. Here’s how I would sum up the experience. Pros: I ordered the Beef Tacos, like everyone says on Unilocal. And yes they were good. Also ordered the queso which was super excellent. I highly recommend the queso here. Their rice is also quite good and flavorful. Service was attentive. Great atmosphere, lots of natural light, I like the décor and it’s a great place to see and be seen right in the heart of Highland Park. Prices were pretty good. Cons: There was a lineup but it was not a long wait. The fish taco was horrible, my wife ordered it and didn’t like it. It was really fishy tasting. She had me try it and it was either not cooked well or it was some very inexpensive fish. Overall, the food was good but nothing that will blow your mind away. Hard to find parking. Server was a little pushy.

Food is great, brisket tacos were awesome. The margarita/sangria combo cocktail got rave reviews at our table however the mojito was terrible, not made correctly. Chips and salsa were good.

Best Mexican in Dallas. Chips and salsa are the holy grail. Brisket quesadillas with barbecue sauce. Fastest servers ever. Always nail your order and the food comes out hot. Recently I’ve been charged extra for additional sauces. They must be penny pinching.

it’s hilarious to me that mi cocina is in highland park because their food is so underwhelming given their prices and, well, the area it’s in. my boyfriend and i popped in here for lunch one day thinking it would be worth our while… but it fell flat. i had the tortilla soup while he had an assortment of enchiladas, and both were very eh. the enchiladas were under-seasoned/not very flavorful, and the presentation was not very appealing. i suppose it reflected the quality of the dish in the end. if you’re looking for mexican there are certainly a lot better establishments to choose from, we just came here because we were in the area. i think mi cocina’s main selling points are its location and nice atmosphere — other than that, there really isn’t much else.

This is their fabulous Tortilla soup without the chips or cheese. Get lots of lemons and squeeze them in. Next ad half a bowl of hot sauce. Mush up the chicken with your fork to let the flavor into the chicken. Enjoy Rod’s Chicken soup via Mi Cocina.

Listen, the food is fine. The atmosphere is cute. The wait-staff is okay. But for how expensive this place is it’s just not worth all the hype. I always feel like the waiters are judging us for not being«Dallas enough». And the queso is just not very good… I can’t stress how«just fine» the food is. Honestly, I just feel like if you’re going to eat Mexican you should go someplace that more Mexican food. Unless you’re looking to run into the most rich and famous folks of Dallas and eat C– food… then MiCo is your spot.

I ate here for lunch today and it was very tasty. We had the guacamole, shrimp tacos, and one of their signature drinks that was a combination of a margarita and sangria. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was wonderful and the food was great!

While the food at this location is almost always just lukewarm, and sometimes flat out cold, the quality of the service is my top complaint. The bartender is always extremely rude, pretends like she can’t see or hear me when I ask for my check, and I have watched her purposely hold my to-go orders above the bar until she feels like getting it for me. One of my orders was completely wrong(even the name on the ticket wasn’t right, but she insisted it was my order) and despite my complaints, she didn’t do anything. I had to go hunt down a manager, who just slowly picked through the bag and asked what the problem was over and over while I rattled off my order for perhaps the twentieth time. I haven’t had any issues with the other servers, although the service there is certainly not anything exceptional. And unfortunately these problems are only at the Highland Park Village location; Lakewood and Uptown both have fabulous service AND great food. I’m now going out of my way to drive the extra few miles to the Uptown location, and won’t ever be returning to this one.

This Mexican restaurant is located in a high-end shopping area of Highland Park. It’s not cheap, and has a nice atmosphere and great service. So what’s the problem? The food is completely underwhelming. Mole enchiladas were lukewarm, at best, and flavorless. Prices are high and don’t match the quality of food by any means. No one at our table was impressed with their food. There’s so many better options for Mexican in the area. The only reason this place must be popular is the location, higher end feel, and drinks. Because the food is nothing special, and far from authentic.

I go here at least 2 — 3 times per week and have since 2010. I love you MiCocina HP — thank you for always being the best way to start a night out, or pop in for a happy hour.

Mama’s Tacos were so good, but the drinks here are amazing!!! The Mambo Taxi and the Dilemma are a must! Fantastic staff, my phone was in desperate need of charging and the manger took care of it. Can’t wait to be back in Texas so I can stop by!

I don’t usually go out and find Mexican food to try out, this was on the way back and I’ve always been fond of HPV. Maybe it was the gloomy weather but it’s a lot different than I remember and a lot less busy. The food was mediocre. Bean soup was overly salty. I also got the Spinach Enchiladas… Vegetables were incredibly bland. I tried to pair it with the enchilada or sauce but it just wasn’t tasty. I just picked out the enchilada to eat, that part was your standard spinach. I liked the high ceilings and service, both of those were fine. It’s nothing I would come back for

I eat from this restaurant quite a bit as my company frequently orders from here. It is pretty good but it is never great. The restaurant routinely gets the orders wrong and by the time we actually get the food, it is cold. I usually order fajitas or carne asada. Half the time I don’t get tortillas. Today I’m eating my lunch and the steak is so fatty I can’t eat it. I even took a picture to share how unappetizing my lunch looks. Perhaps we can order from a restaurant that actually cares. Edit: Here is what the menu says… Carne Asada — Hand Sliced 10oz Aged Choice Rib-Eye Steak on a bed of Arroz, topped with Grilled Scallions and served with Bean Soup. I snapped a picture of my lunch and it barely resembles the description. The steak was on a bed of onions… not rice… no scallions…

Winding down after a long week on a Friday night, my partner and I decided to head to Mi Cocina. The only other Mi Cocina I’ve been to we in southwest Fort Worth and that was years ago. It was pretty crowded, but that was to be expected considering the time and day. Although we still got seated in about 15 minutes. Our service was very attentive, we had chips and salsa, with our drinks brought out very quickly. I decided to go with the chicken mole, that was served with a cilantro rice, small side salad with avocado and opted for the soupy beans instead of borracho. The portion size was decent for the price, the cilantro rice was great, so well seasoned and cooked just right. The beans were great also. The mole sauce for the chicken was not the best I’ve had, nor was my favorite. It was still edible though and not horrible — probably won’t be my choice the next time I visit. Overall, great dining place with attentive and friendly staff. I’ll be back to try some of the other offerings they have.

Mexican food is so heavy to me. If I ever go out to eat Mexican food, 10 out of 10 times it’s because somebody wanted to go there and I said sure and rolled my eyes. There were also some reassuring words such as «trust me it is amazing down here in Texas, better than Chicago». Well they are right. I went to two Mexican restaurants this weekend and l left happily ever after. There was so much food. They are right, everything is bigger in Texas, especially the portions. My body had enough carbs I could have easily hibernated for the winter and been okay. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated but we sat down in 10. Bonus is my book! My friend suggested the drink Mambo taxi. Lets just say there is only alcohol in that drink but it was to die for. I am okay with suffering with hangovers everyday if I can have those drinks. The best 8 oz of alcohol I have ever had. Food! Yes the food was great as well. We ordered the guacamole, beef fajitas, and braised short rib quesadillas. The guac was so creamy, delicious. Our server called it Mexican Chocolate. Teehee!!! The quesadillas were probably the highlite of the dinner, as far as food goes. See bit on alcohol. Mi Cocina is a chain restaurant as far as I saw in Dallas. I need them to move to Chicago so I can move in.
