So my beau and I wanted to try this place because we heard really great things. We normally go to another place down the street. So we hoped in and decided to give it a try. Tilapia was so gross. It tasted so fishy and swampy. It was deep fried too. This is supposed to be a Mexican seafood place and they can’t even get tilapia right. That is sad. The margarita was cheap but was also made with garbage. I had the worst headache after about 40 mins and one marg later. I was overall grossed out by this place. I will not be coming back. Sorry.

I’m a huge fan of sea food! I go crazy for shrimp and OMG … OYSTERS! My first time here I was expecting to get blown away by their oysters since a family member suggested this place. I ordered a dozen of them which they were prepared with picadillo, avocado, and a shrimp on top of each. I like my oysters to be big and slimy! But apparently I got quarter sized oysters! I was so disappointed and heart broken :(It’s like they used the picadillo to cover up its disappointing size… Horrible horrible… That’s my reason why I put my four stars down. Now, the next time around I gave it another shot. But instead I ordered a shrimp cocktail and my my… Was it satisfying! They are definitely not greedy with their shrimp! And the shrimp were perfect in size, not too small and not too big. The thing is that the shrimp didn’t blow me away… The sauce/soup that the shrimp were in was amazing!!! Of course I added a bit of tapatio b/c I love me some spice! And man was it good! What I loved about it was that it didn’t give that nasty taste of clamato, it had a sweet tangy kick to it and BAM! The spicy-ness at the end. It just made me want more!!! Although I would of preferred a little more of avocado with it but ill make sure to request it next time! I hope next time when I come I can give it another shot with the oysters and hope not to be disappointed again but other than that I definitely recommend this place!

Here’s how me, a «white» girl(debatable on numerous occasions, but that’s neither here nor there) knew that this place was the real deal. When I asked my favorite Latino/a’s about where to find the best ceviche in Dallas, they prompted me to La Calle Doce. I gave them a look,(you know, the«Seriously? Do I need to turn up the volume and speak slowly?» look) and asked the question again. «Where is the best ceviche in Dallas?» All of a sudden, they were singing a different tune. La Reyna, they said. Fitzhugh and Capitol. Then they looked at me with admiration. «You’ll really go there?» Uhhh. Yes. I REALLY will. I’ll even write the 1st Unilocal review. With all due respect to La Calle Doce, I was looking for a place where I could find a language barrier and feel like a minority. I wanted sloppy, loud, and even some telenovelas. Guys, if you want good ceviche(tostada). .. look no further. It’s good, it’s mouth-watering good. Not as good as ceviche in El Paso, San Diego,(or Mexico, for that matter) but for our landlocked slice of Republicana, it will do. *Brought to you as a public service announcement from a gringa. My apologies in advance for letting out such a well kept secret!(It’s SO good though. .. .…)
