Me and my husband were enjoying our chips and salsa until a baby cockroach came crawling out of the basket! I was so disgusted I told the cashier and she said ooh when that happens we call the exterminator! Like OMG how often does that happen. I’m not one to ask for free handouts so we paid for our meal without eating and left.

First of all I should have known service was going to be iffy when they have a sign on the door hiring waitresses. We were seated and had to wait 45 minutes for waitress to finally ask us our order and drink, as we finished our first our waitress never came to check on us and after another 30 minutes we got up and left, all the waitresses didn’t care so marea thanks for the free beers but we won’t be back!

If you’re looking for delicious cheap eats then Mariscos La Marea is the place for you. You can’t miss the restaurant when you’re driving by because it’s bright blue. Dinner started out with the classic chips and salsa. The chips were thick and the salsa was hearty. It was on the mild side so I kicked it up with the hot sauces available. Each table had 5 bottles of different hot sauces. I was impressed. Not one brand was left out(except Sriracha but it’s a Mexican joint so I shouldn’t expect it here). I ordered the whole fried tilapia($ 10.99) and a ½ dozen of decked out oysters. The fried tilapia was really good and moist. The fish wasn’t extremely large so I was able to finish it cleanly. The fish came with an avocado topped salad, Mexican rice, and fries. The rice and fries were an afterthought. I’ve never had ceviche topped oysters before and I didn’t care for this version. The raw onions overpowered the oysters so I couldn’t really taste the oysters. It did look impressive with all the seafood toppings. I saw others get this combination clay pot dish that looked amazing. It look hefty and everything was grilled. I’m coming back and getting that next time.

This is definitely a «hole in the wall» restaurant. You probably wouldn’t think much of it if you were to pass it by. It’s definitely not a fancy place but it is fun if your in to Mexican music. It has a 100% Hispanic clientele, 90% males. This place reminded me of some of the restaurants in Mexico. Don’t come here if you don’t like Seafood or Mexicans. As for me, i enjoyed it; i came on a Saturday night when they were having karaōke. There was a performance of a Vicente Fernandez & Juan Gabriel«look-a-likes» that sang pretty good rancheras. Good entertainment. The tables are very close together and there is not much of an open space to walk around. The service was good, the waitress’s(more than one) did keep checking on us. Restrooms are small & not fancy. As far as the food, it was definitely average. I had tostadas de ceviche. The pricing is decent as well. Overall, i would definitely come back for the entertainment(with my friends of course). Whenever they come again.

This place has authentic mexican food and inexpensive. The place has a casual environment and the spanish tv channels are always on. You should try the«Parillada» which is good for 2 and includes grilled everything except seafood(grilled fajitas, sausage, chicken) and comes with rice, beans and fresh tortillas. If you are interested in seafood try«La Mariscada» or the tostadas. La mariscada comes with fried seafood enough for 2. El Molcajete comes with steamed seafood and it is big enough for 2. You get your money’s worth here. The for 2 plates are around 20 bucks by the way, which is not bad with the amount of food you get.
