NOT authentic at all. Cook was the Asian owner which also owns the Chinese restaurant that is in the same building as this place. Meat lacks flavor, rice and beans are crap, rice are hard grains, beans are lump of mash. Ordered pastor, fajita, guiso and everything tasted off. I’ve tasted bad tacos before but this was horrible. Literally took a bite or 2 of each thing and left it uneaten. Had to spit the guiso tacos back out on the plate.

Great tacos. Great price. Sopes are small, but they’re only 1.50 and are very good, although I can do without the tomatoes!

The area could be a lot better but the food here is pretty good and worth the drive, staff is friendly and Iv never had a problem with my order.

If my review was based solely on the food, it would be a four. I have visited twice in less then a week, and both times I enjoyed my food. I have gotten Gorditas both times, and both times they were great. They’re fried, which makes them a little crunchy. I have noticed that the older lady that was there on a Saturday, had better seasoning then the younger one that was there on Monday. All the cooks and staff is mexican, but the owner is a Chinese lady. The lady who owns this place is genius! The whole place is pretty small, but it manages to fit 3 businesses in one! There’s the Mexican food, take 3 steps and you’re in the bakery, take one step and you’re in the Chinese food section. Now, on to the bad. The neighborhood. I had never been around this neighborhood before, so I’m not going to lie, some things do make me nervous. It is very hood here. At one point, I saw a barefoot homeless guy leaning against my car. I’m 4’11, so I’m like a little chihuahua. Everything scares me. A few minutes after, the 6’9 foot man sat on the curve. My heart was pounding louder than the base sounds driving around in lifted up cars. This place is so bad, it’s been robbed by the same guy 3 times. They have his picture up at the register, but somehow haven’t managed to catch him? who knows. . Although the venue is scary, another thing that sucks here is customer service. Well, from some of their employees. One girl that works there is sooooooooo RUDE. I couldn’t stand her attitude. When my food was ready, she didn’t have the courtesy to tell me. Even after seeing that I was sitting out of viewing reach of my food. She just sat it there. It wasn’t until I walked around past the huge counter that I saw it sitting there. While she was talking to one of the workers there I asked if it was mine, and she goes uhmm uhmmm. Whatever dude, it’s not my fault you hate your job. The other employees are just there. They’re not rude, but not friendly either. Oh also, btw gringo, it’s not a taqueria. Taquerias specialize in tacos, this is a little taste of Mexico. You know, we’re more than just tacos! ;)

The bad; it’s a little hole in the wall, in a sketchy barrio. Clientele is Mexicans and hood rats. Its run by Asians, but the cook is Mexican. I ordered a Milanesa Torta(sort of a Mexican chicken fried steak sandwich for you gringos). It was $ 6 including tax. Could of used a little more avocado, but excellent none the less. I’ll be back to check out some of their other items.

Funky little tacqueria, as a gringo I would get funny looks when I first started coming here so I knew I was in the right place. Pretty good for the price($ 1.10 ea) I’m becoming a regular. Guiso Rojo are my fave. Barbacoa are good too but that’s pretty hard to screw up so no points there. The red sauce is excellent, better than the verde/tamatillo in my opinion. Can’t give it 5 stars, it has the ambiance of a kwik-e-mart, and there’s the boot-leg DVD’s sold by an asian lady who I think is the owner. which brings me to my next point, the fact that it’s a tacqueria owned by an asian just doesn’t help the authenticity rating. Theres another place across the street that I’ve been meaning to check out it looks a little better. but either way for the price this beats the crap out of taco bell.
