I ordered the country boy breakfast and the food is just not that good. No flavor, the worst biscuits I’ve ever had. Bland gravy and bad hash browns that weren’t cooked long enough. The only reason I went was because my wife and mother wanted to try it. Ill never frequent this place again. Great service never makes up for terrible food. Don’t waste your time.

Gone down hill. Was the worst breakfast we have had in long time. Bacon and sausage was burnt to crisp and you could tell it was cheap meat. Also they don’t cook real eggs unless you order over easy. The rest eggs are out of a carton yuck!!. There home frys were a joke all covered in vegetable oil with no seasoning. Buba our server was great and apologized for the kitchen. But we paid 50 dollars for 5 people for a horrable breakfast. Will not be back.

Solid breakfast menu for both traditional American fare(pancakes, waffles) and Tex Mex(migas, huevos rancheros). Quick service, hot coffee, and a diverse clientele. You’ll see all kinds at Lindys!

A solid 4. I had the fresh made CFS with lumpy(in a good way) mashed potatoes and baby carrots and everything was delicious. The rolls are made in house too — they remind me of the old Luby’s rolls but bigger. They were out of cakes the day I came for lunch.

Breakfast is pretty good, but face it — it’s hard to mess up breakfast. Hamburgers are decent. «Home Cooking» — forget about it, I’ve tried several menu items(my sister likes going there) and all are severely lacking in seasoning and flavor. If you like your food bland, go for it. Service is his or miss, depending on the crew, the day, and the time of day. I now try to convince Sis that there are better places to spend our dimes and our calories.

I ordered chicken fried chicken. It was a large portion of tasteless food. The gravy, chicken, corn, mashed potatoes ALL lacked seasoning. They get 2 stars because the servers were friendly. 1 star for food.

Used to go all the time, but they must have got a new cook or something because the food isn’t as good as it was a few years ago.

Good comfort food place to eat. Home cooking and southern cuisine like grandma made. We had breakfast this morning with eggs, bacon, ham, grits, biscuits and gravy. Food was tasty and the bacon was crispy.

Never been to the restaurant but I just ate a chicken-fried steak from there with mashed potatoes & gravy/fried okra. I ate it about 3 hours after it was cooked and I reheated and scarfed it down. Wouldn’t hesitate to stop in for a fresh one! It was a greasy wonderful diner delight! And the okra maintained some crispiness after microwaving.

We ate there last night. The staff was friendly and the place was very clean, but that’s about all I can say I liked. My husband said he prefers food that welcomes you. This food, he said, reached out and punched him in the face. We got the battered fries as an appetizer with a bowl of ranch dressing. The dressing was quite good and tasted very fresh, but the fries didn’t. The batter and the fries were just the wrong mix as well. And I prefer ketchup on fries and that wasn’t even offered. My husband had the seafood platter. There was so much batter on the fried oysters that it was more batter than oyster. I ordered some grilled chicken with some sides of veggies. I wanted the mashed potatoes without gravy and it came out drowning in gravy. The server gave me some new potatoes, but they were so dry I understood why people would want gravy on them. The corn was right out of a can — no seasoning that I could tell. And the chicken. It was so overcooked and tough I had a hard time cutting into it with my steak knife. I ate less than half of it. She told me she’d take it off our check, which she did. She removed the 8.99 for the plate and charged me a la carte prices for the three veggies I didn’t finish. At 1.89 each, I saved a little over $ 3. Not enough for such a bad experience. Other people around us were eating breakfast, so if you’re a breakfast fan looking for a place to go, you might want to try it out. Oh, the lemonade tasted homemade and is well worth it. Just know that they charge by the glass — no free refills.

Good ol’ country cookin’ it can’t get any better than this. This is the stuff I was raised on homemade biscuits and gravy and all things of the sort, not to mention a massive country ham steak with the famous country boy special!

Luncheon specials are great. Large enough for two people to share. Chicken fried steak and enchilada plate are my favorites. Service is great. Good old fashioned restaurant, nothing fancy.

Good home cooking and great service. Seems to be a local favorite as the place was packed well before lunch service. Chorizo was a bit overcooked but the hot buttered buns that came before the meal made up for it! A good little greasy spoon restaurant.

Not even worth the star. Mediocre food and our waitress was worse. It is off the freeway and inexpensive but not worth it. I’m all for second chances but the experience was so bad…

Lindy’s has sat on the corner of Seagoville Road and Interstate 20 for what seems like eternity. The small diner welcomes visitors into Dallas on I20 and always reminded me that we were almost home. As you leave town, it provides the last stop in Dallas County for home cooking so you can get charged for your travels. Several things always tell me about a diner… –Do the police eat there? Yes, sometimes police go outside their city to eat there! Heck, the fireman in the area sometimes take several firetrucks and go eat there! That says something! –Does it have a daily special? Yes but more to follow on that… –Can you get in at 9am on Saturday morning? Not very often! Lindy’s is your run of the mill, basic diner style restaurant that serves everything from chicken fried steak and an open faced hot roast beef sandwich to breakfast and some of the best pecan waffles from opening to closing. You are not gonna jump for joy in Lindy’s from eating the best food in the world but you will get a satisfying, courteously served, entirely overloaded meal that will satisfy even the largest of appetites with ease. Each night they deliver a nightly special that is reduced price. You get one meat or main dish with three sides. The sides vary from Green Beans to Pinto Beans to Macaroni and Cheese. My one gripe here is that they used to have a deal where you could trade two sides for a side salad. No longer. You have to pay extra for the side salad now! Arguably the best item at Lindy’s is their breakfast. Everything on their breakfast menu is excellent. Crisp bacon, wonderful eggs, crunchy toast, flaky biscuits, and then there are the Pecan Waffles. WHOA… stop and let’s talk about this. Imagine this steaming hot waffle melting the butter as you spread it over the top and watch is ooze into the golden brown crust on the waffle. Smother it in maple syrup. Then take a bite… The crunchy golden exterior yields to the soft, succulent, and steamy, butter engorged fluffiness of the waffles interior. Small pecan pieces dot the creaminess and provide that little extra flavor burst. It is wonderful. But I digress… Probably the next best thing are the burgers. They are meaty wonderful patties, wonderfully melted cheese, crisp bacon and fresh fresh fresh veggies. Serve with wonderful french fries that are perfectly cooked and it is difficult to even think about butter and pecan waffles! The wait staff has been running through a little turnover so the service can be a little delayed. Wait and enjoy it. The ladies and men working are all pleasant country folks who know customers by first names and know just where folks like to sit. This is customer service like you seldom see any more. The big names stuff-chicken fried steaks, fried chicken, chopped steak– are all good in their own right. Try the nightly specials because they are almost always the best. Appetizers are spotty at best and mostly look canned(i.e. frozen cheese sticks, canned cheese sauce on the nachos, etc etc). So whether you are heading out to the East or coming back home, stop in at Lindy’s and enjoy a little bit of country cooking and personality that the new slick chains still haven’t quite figured out… jh
