I loved this little place that’s hidden behind another resturant. The weather was really nice yesterday which made this place extra nice to be at. My daughter and myself had Shrimp tacos and a Steak and Brisket tacos. I thought they were really good but I’ve had way better corn tacos at other places but the cilantro on it was the best i ever had and their sauces to go on them are really good and needed. I enjoyed this place and i will go back. When i went it was clean and i have no complaints about the service the Tacos were like 1.95 a piece a bit more than im use to paying.

Took the guys here on a Saturday night just a little before 9pm. Place wasn’t as busy but there were some citizens out and about getting a quick grab before the club or so. Fresh and hot. I wished I had ordered the churro to try but overall tacos were delicious. Will definitely be coming back for more and perhaps have a sip or two with friends and family. Perfect hang out place in the summer. Cool and relaxing setting.

This was an amazing place. All the decorations and the outside seating area was really cool. They give you these tickets with different names and they call the name on your ticket when your order is ready it’s really cute. The food was great of course. I LOVED the beans you gotta try them. I will be back. A great place to eat on a warm sunny day with friends.

Quick stop after visiting the Perot museum. Boyfriend got tacos al pastor(beef) and the barbacoa tacos and I got the lengua(tongue) burrito. The meat was perfect. Nice and tender and juicy. The sauce they provide are a good addition. Cute little spot for some quick street taco craving. There are not many seats. It was kind of chilly when we went but I’m assuming on a warm day it’d get full. Still, worth the wait.

We love La Ventana! Food is always great and the service is fast. Tacos are on point. The salad is amazing nice«healthy» choice and the dressing is great. Corn in a cup can’t never go wrong with that. And to end it you have to have a churro! Margaritas are not bad. Loved the outdoor seating. If you live downtown and want tacos this is the place!

Omg so good! Highly recommend. Food: I ordered 4 tacos for dinner– shrimp, brisket, pork, and chicken. I’m not sure what authentic tacos should taste like but these were still amazing! Each taco comes with chopped onion, iceberg lettuce, and finely chopped cilantro(did not overpower). On the side are lime wedges and red/green salsa. WARNING– red salsa is very hot so use sparingly if you’re sensitive to spice. The green salsa and lime helped make the taco more juicy and flavorful so I definitely recommend adding some to taste. Value: each taco was $ 1.95. Other menu options did not range far from that including the Bowl and Burrito which were $ 5.25(see pic of online menu). Service: nothing outstanding. It’s a fast food joint where you order from a window but the lady who took my order was nice! Ambiance: it’s got a large patio seating area with a variety of table and bar seats. I imagine it’s great for the summer, but they have put out heat lamps for the winter. Location: it’s behind MesoMaya and pretty easy to spot. Off of North Akard and McKinney. Order on the right side of the entrance where the parking lot and gate are.

You have not experienced life until you come to this place. The food is AMAZING. Wow. I ordered elotes, a chicken taco, and a brisket bowl and I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on this menu. The food is delicious and fresh and cheap. Most satisfying lunch I’ve had in a long time !

The bistec and lengua tacos are just unbelievable as well as the rest of their delicious menu. Warning: it is authentic mexican food so if you’re expecting hard shell tacos Chipotle style you’re not going to find them here and you might not like any of the food. The view from the patio incredible. I give them four stars because service is incredible slow. They share kitchen with Mesomaya, I don’t know if that’s why they’re slow

Fun patio and little hidden gem in terms of casual Mexican food. Great for quick meals with walk up window and no table service. Delicious food in a hurry! Update 9−12−15. Please bring back corn tortillas for breakfast tacos! We have some GF family and friends, the menu says corn tortillas but last several times they tell us they don’t have them for breakfast tacos. Please change your menu to reflect that.

I know this place is supposed to be kitschy and fun but I just didn’t care for it because it felt dirty. –Bad smell when you first walk up. (Sewage or trash?) –No coffee after 9AM and no effort made to accommodate the request. –Gaze at toilets with potted plants while you eat:-(Yuck! Who thought that was a good idea? –Breakfast tacos were good but order was wrong and presentation was sad. I asked for potato and bacon and only got bacon. I also enthusiastically asked if they come with cheese and the woman replied«yes». When my boyfriend ordered his tacos I told the woman«now he doesn’t like cheese.» :-/Neither of us got cheese:-\ We just ate real quick and left. Too disappointed to fix the order. The sauces we found on a nearby table added a lot of flavor. Glad we found them– on our own. That’s all I have to say about that.

This place is within walking distance, and I’ve tried so hard to like their tacos… But alas. I do not. Or at the very least. I’ve had much better. I never felt like the tortillas were fresh and warm, and they really taste like the kind you just find in a bag at the grocery store. The chicken is all right, but the barbacoa is not very good. The elotes, however, are actually pretty good! And the churros are tasty. I will be going to Oakcliff for my street taco fix… These tacos just cannot compare.

I had been referred to this place by a coworker who said they were the best street tacos. The first time I went(saturday early afternoon) I was blown away at how good the tacos and salsa were. I liked the private parking lot with El Fenix and Meso Maya. I think the cards they give you with the name to be called out can get a little confusing as the accents can be hard to understand. I tried the brisket and loved it. I then went again about a week later with my fiancé to convince him how great it was– unfortunately, this time it was a disappointment(on a tuesday evening). The meat was over cooked and lacked taste. My fiancé also hated how brown the salsa was as it looked like garbage– but i liked the roasted taste. We wound up going again a couple weeks later and this time it was again great(a thursday night I believe). The meat had great taste and was tender– of course it also smelled great! Overall, for $ 14(5 tacos and salsa between the 2 of us) i’m pretty pleased. I wish they had queso or guac and I would be a happy camper!

Omg I love this place!!! It’s a cute little taco window in the heart of the city with a killer patio. We walked over after the Late Night Museum event one Friday night. They were supposed to close at 11:00, but they kept going because there was a line. I tried the brisket taco and a shrimp taco. The brisket was a little fatty, but both were really good. I would describe the patio as junkyard chic with toilet bowl planters, a dismantled bike, and adorable patio lights. There is a parking lot for patrons, but forget about finding a spot on the weekend. They do have valet and meters around the block so bring some change.

Another hidden gem. I love the outside eating environment. Most of the seating is covered so you won’t scorch to death! Not much on the menu but drinks, sides, tacos, burritos and bowls. I ordered 1 steak, 1 brisket and 3 barbacoa tacos. I opted out of the cilantro. Came with fresh limes and 2 sauces, a green and red. The tacos were good but I could’ve have used maybe half a spoonful more of meat. It was literally a small ball in the middle of the tortilla. Plus I’m pretty sure on the the first two tacos I got was chicken and it was dry, some of it had been cooked to long so it was tough. The order came out pretty quick. I’m not too sure I would come back. Fuel city is a little better on price, better taste and a good ratio of tortilla to meat.

Found out this gem of a place is affiliated with Meso Maya. It is strange that there are so many Mexican restaurants right there on one corner. I relate it to the Old Navy, GAP, and Banana Republic model, with La Ventana being the Old Navy. But don’t let me mislead you, this place is great, just at a lower price point. It is an order at the window and call out a fictitious name given to you when you order. The line can get long at times but it moves fairly quickly. They do sell alcohol here as well. I had the steak burrito and tried some pork. I would recommend the steak over the pork. There were nice chunks of quality meat and the size was pretty big. They have bottle of hot sauce floating around to be shared by tables so you may have to hunt one down. The food came quickly and they have a free lot in the back, great for downtown!

La Ventana is located right behind Meso Maya which can be pretty tricky for first timers. I loved the outside vibe and the low keyness. I really liked the day of the dead paintings on the walls because its different from all the other taco joints in DFW. I ordered the barbacoa, al pastor, and shrimp tacos. The side dishes we had were the rice and elotes. I’ve actually never had an Elotes before so I cant really compare it to anything. I would have to say that the barbacoa was the BEST out of all the tacos. The meat was flavored to perfection. The al pastor was pretty dry and the shrimp taco lacked some flavor. I strongly recommend the barbacoa tacos for all the beef eaters out there! Also, dont forget to ask for the salsa’s when you pick up your order! My favorite was the green one known as salsa verde. Overall: I reallly liked this restaurant and will be returning more often. Theres also free parking which makes it convenient since it is located in downtown Dallas. I strongly recommend La Ventana for anyone who wants a nice taco on the patio.

This hidden gem is one of my favorite spots! It is all outdoor seating so I would only recommend it on a nice day. If you are looking for gourmet tacos with tons of crazy toppings this is not the place to go. They are all street tacos and very simple with your choice of meat and then topped with cilantro, onions, and a little lettuce. Very simple but so delicious. I always either get the shrimp or chicken but my boyfriend loves to get the brisket as well. The tacos come ala carte and you can get a side of rice, beans, or elotes(mexican corn). To drink they have a selection of Mexican beers and margaritas that taste like candy. Don’t let the taste fool you — a couple of these and you will definitely be feeling the effects. The sauces that come with the tacos are both delicious. TIP — the lighter green sauce is actually the spicier one. I learned that the hard way. The only con I can think of is that they don’t have queso or guacamole. They do have chips and salsa which is homemade and fresh. I definitely recommend this place if you haven’t been! For two people to each get 2 – 3 tacos, a side, and a couple of drinks, the bill is under $ 20 and the food is great! You just can’t beat it:)

This place has such a cool vibe. It’s very different from any other Dallas Mexican place. It’s all outdoor with an eclectically decorated patio. You order at a window and then pick your table. The food is satisfying on all levels. First, super affordable prices. You can dine for less than $ 5 a person and be totally full. I got pastor(marinated pork) and my husband got barbacoa(shredded beef) and we loved both. We also split a chicken taco which was quite tasty. They have two squirt bottles of salsa, neither of which are spicy, but both of which have a nice flavor. The margaritas are tasty and cheap, the micheladas have a great flavor, and they have Mexican craft beers I’ve never heard of elsewhere. I only took 1 star off because many of the other taquerias around town have more rich, flavorful renditions of the same food. However this place DEFINITELY has them beat on ambiance.

On a sunny 64 degree Winter day off, celebration was in order. After an amped shoulder workout and a free flyin bike ride on Katy trail, La Ventana taco stand became the clear choice for quick grub on the way home to my loft downtown. It was my day off. I could have anything I want. Chips and salsa. Charro beans. Elotes. Yeah — that was enough. The sides won out over the delicious tacos. Perfect Tex Mex here, nothing unusual or mind blowing — just spot on. The elotes might’ve had too much cream, but the beans had just enough bacon and the tiny portion of salsa rojo was a satisfying electric red. The fun patio is a mismatched scenario of metal lawn furniture, wood benches and large wood industrial spools for tables. The rainbow graffitied walls catch the bright white sunlight. $ 10 seemed a little steep for a hodge podge ala carte snack — but I’ll happily do it again.
