Haute Cakery

I really hate giving low star reviews, but the cake was supposed to be the shining star of the party, and it was such a huge let down.
I called/​emailed 7 bakeries looking for some one to do a small, fondant Batman– decorated, German chocolate cake for a birthday party (See my photo). The decorations weren’t the issue, nobody felt they could do a German chocolate under fondant without using icing. Birthday boy doesn’t like icing. Then Reena replies and says it’s not an issue, she can use ganache to keep it smooth and the design won’t be a problem. At this point I’m beaming with excitement.
Fast forward to the cake I picked up– again see my picture. While the base fondant was immaculate and smelled heavenly, the batman design looked like a child did it. At this point, I’m not going to let it ruin the party. So i pay and leave. So, why didn’t I stand there and argue that it looks terrible? What good would that have done, especially if she was confident enough in her work to give me that cake? If she could have done better, it would have been perfect when I arrived and I needed a cake right then. Lesson learned on my part.
I was hoping the cake was delicious. Since I peeled off the design and made a stencil with confectioners sugar, nobody even knew the cake was wrong.
However, everyone asked why I got chocolate & coffee flavored cake with coconut filling. I didn’t believe them until I tasted it. It tasted like coffee. What a waste.

I recently placed an order for cupcakes for a large anniversary party, and I couldn’t be happier with Haute Cakery and Reena! First of all, her service was amazing — I felt like I was in good hands from my very first phone call. She made great suggestions in terms of the variety of flavors, and was even able to do some egg less chocolate cupcakes for our guests with dietary restrictions. Everything tasted fantastic and was decorated beautifully — the lemon ones were my favorite, hand’s down :)

I love in CA and was throwing my birthday a baby shower in TX. I found Reena on Unilocal and she was wonderful. She made it very easy to order the cake and had it delivered just in time for the baby shower. I got so many compliments on the cake. I could not ask for anything better. Thank you, Reena!

I don’t even know where to start with the amazing-​ness that is Haute Cakery. Reena is incredibly talented and it’s amazing what she can do with fondant and frosting!
I ordered a baby shower cake from Haute Cakery and it was the spotlight of the party (besides the mother to be of course). The cake was delicious, moist. I’m not a huge frosting person but man, hers is really good. Not overly sweet and doesn’t leave that waxy taste in your mouth like grocery store cakes. The elephant topper took «the cake» (ha). It was perfect. The details. Down to the smallest, cutest butterfly that actually looked like it just naturally landed on the elephant’s trunk.
I’ve also seen Haute Cakery’s work at a wedding (beautiful, elegant and delish… Each layer was a different flavor and I sampled every flavor), cake pops (again, what she can do with fondant is Ace of Cake Worthy) and a baseball-​themed first birthday (really playful, perfect).
If you are looking for something more personal, Haute Cakery delivers. Reena listens, takes the time to sketch out her ideas and shares her thoughts/​ideas to make sure you both are the same page.
Best part, you can have you cake (and delicious frosting) and eat it too.

Amazing all around! Rena made a beautiful and tasty red velvet cake for my sister’s surprise African-​themed birthday cake. I found a symbol that wasn’t really traditional i.e. not a normal cake design and asked her to use her creativity along with ideas from my Pinterest board and she delivered! Not to mention, I called her about 3 days before I needed the cake and I needed it ON THE 4TH OF JULY! She was very accommodating and she even threw in a couple vanilla cupcakes for me since I didn’t eat red velvet (I ordered it because it’s my sister’s favorite). The entire process went smoothly and she was a pleasure to work with! The cupcakes were super moist and yummy and the cake was one of the best my family’s ever had. My sister kept saying that she hated to eat it because it was so beautiful. I’ll definitely use Haute Cakery again!

Absolutely yum!!! My husband bought my birthday cake from Haute Cakery and it was amazing. The baker did an amazing job on the décor and the cake was so moist and yummie. Beyond Amazing. Can’t wait for my next birthday :)
