This food was delicious(we got two original gyros and one chicken). The original is better than the chicken. The food being delicious and the kind woman at the counter alone, it was really great. However, there is room for improvement: Our total ended up being quite high for three people in a small, casual café; the sheet rock walls might do well being white(the blotchy peach color gives it a very dated, late 80s feel– I don’t mind the brick wall being colored as much– and it would improve the ambiance a lot if the walls were painted). Also– the man in the kitchen, from what I saw, was grumpy and not accommodating. I’m sure we weren’t supposed to see him, so I didn’t take a star off for his crass demeanor, but there’s a window there in the kitchen. So– sir– relax! You make great food and work in a charming café. I like supporting a business that was there before Oak Cliff was«cool» and is surviving on Davis street as it is. Slap a coat of paint up there and keep doing what you do. Note: I hovered between 3&4 stars during this entire review. I finally had this establishment at 3 stars, but then I remembered the sweet potato fries and it bumped back up. I want a place like this to survive gentrification for sure.

Amazing Greek food! I had the small Greek salad with gyro meat and sweet potato fries. My order came with a side of pita bread which I must say was incredible. Perfect combo for a light but satisfying lunch. Topped off my meal with baklava, a family recipe. Service was great also! I’ll definitely be back

I was so excited they have Gyros meat without gluten, very rare find! My daughter and I were in the area shopping and decided to try out this place. We both had the Greek Salad which was very fresh, and like I said the Gyros meat was gluten free so I was able to eat it. We both enjoyed our lunch.

I really enjoyed the food at the Greek Café & Bakery. The chicken seasoning is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The dipping pitas are prepared whole and just keep on coming. The ambiance is cozy and homey. They are B.Y.O.B, but you can have a drink a stone’s throw from the front door, and then come back and get your Greek on. My only complaint was the fries – really greasy. But who goes Greek for the fries?

The service was awesome!!! And the food was so good; I had the small Greek salad with chicken. It came with two different dressing; a red vinegar type(which is my fav) and some other white dressing. The salad was a good portion and light. The hummus and pita bread was good too.

This place is close to my work, so I stopped in to get lunch togo. It took them forever to get my order. The portion was large, but the food wasn’t all that great nor memorable. For the amount of time it took to get my food to how the food tastes, I wouldn’t waste my time here again.

If no stars was an option that’s what I would give. This place was terrible. I have no idea how it has 4 stars. The pita was so hard I could barely chew it. The tiziki sauce was not tiziki sauce. It was sour cream. The gyro meat was tolerable at best. The whole place was dingy and dirty. The bathroom filthy. The kitchen not comforting. This place needs help.

Pretty good food. The options are limited but the place is very intimate & cozy. A cute little Greek restaurant for a casual meal.

The food is decent, and the service is really great. The baklava was exceptional, but I got a Greek salad with gyro meat that was just okay. I’ll definitely be back for that baklava though!

It has been a while since I’ve been here. If you want a place with authentic Greek food this place is it. Cooked to perfection a must stop for anyone.

By far my favorite Greek food in Dallas! I have tried others but I still keep going back to this wonderful place! Best spanakopita I ever had. The hummus is well flavored, and the gyros are packed full! Remember to save room for dessert. My personal favorites are the baklava and the Nutella cheesecake

This place is awesome. Not too big. Not too small. Staff is great and the food is incredible. We just ordered a simple traditional gyro and it was the best I’ve had in DFW. The Greek fried were delicious but it had a bit too much olive oil. I suggest you ask them to put the oil on the side or just no oil at all. But he feta and oregano was killer. I wanted to eat 10 more gyros and fries lol darn my small stomach! Highly recommend it!

Bishop arts has so many hidden gems. Greek Bakery and Café is one of those. The interior of the restaurant feels very European, especially when they prop the doors open. They have about 7 tables/booths and I’ve always been able to find a seat. My go to is the gyro and regular fries, though I sampled the sweet potato fries and they’re pretty good too. I usually spend around $ 11 for a gyro, fries and a drink. The gyro is a good size though. Parking is found in a lot behind the restaurant on seventh; just a short, easy walk to the front door.

My boss was eating a gyro from this place down the street, and made a few simple astute comments about it. Something like «It’s not horrible.» and when asked what the name is «just look for the generic sign that says ‘GREEKCAFE’. Of course, when I entered the tiny diner on a cute street with a matronly woman behind a case of baklava, I was prepared for the worst. GREEKCAFE had an appearance that I would possibly associate with one of the best hole in the walls. Yet, not one of my friends or acquaintances has ever mentioned GREEKCAFE, because really, I don’t even know what its name is. A traditional gyro for $ 7.50 honestly seemed a decent price. «Are you Greek?» I inquired to said pretty saftig matron. «Yes.» She smiled and her beautiful browns beamed like a flowing Santorini night tide. I felt comfortable. Almost as comfortable as my Grandmas, in that economy no frills European love kind of way. And my grandma could make some very bad meals. She was English. This meal was similiar. The gyro meat tasted okay but I’ve had better. The pita was overly buttered and appeared like it might have been toasted to hide its age. The yogurt sauce also seemed to be a little overly generous acting as a sort of band aid. I hadn’t eaten all day so it hit the spot, but I’m not sure if it tasted like much. It was like what you might find as the best lunch option at a college dorm cafeteria. I wolfed it down. Baklava, on the small side were $ 3 and change. I passed. I said goodbye to the sterile video game diner experience, and happily entered the real world. I wouldn’t mind trying the ‘Greek fries’ sometimes with feta, and because the emptiness of the place becomes hipster farce, like a setting in «Ghost World» — There is a 33% chance I might. Summary This is a stereotypical Greek diner with average food.

The staff was very nice when we strolled in to grab some dessert to go. I was attracted to the baklava cheesecake sign out front being a huge cheesecake fanatic. I was disappointed when I got home and tried it. The cheesecake was incredible sweet and a little too soft for my preference. The sweetness of the honey and baklava made it overwhelming. I usually don’t have a problem with sweet but I couldn’t finish more than a few bites. It’s a good concept, just needs some adjustments.

I really like Greek food and it’s not every day that one can come across a good, authentic Greek restaurant. I came to this Greek bakery a few years ago and the food was great. Of everything that I ate here, the one thing that stood out to me was the lamb gyro that I had. There was just the right amount of lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce to make this a highly recommended gyro. However, this I noticed that the cook, whom I think is also the owner, kept coughing and sneezing on his hand, and never washed his hands or wore gloves. So for that reason, I was turned off and vowed never to return since I didn’t feel it was sanitary enough. Overall, I think the food is good, but I prefer clean, washed hands or gloves for my food. Or at least don’t make the kitchen viewable.

The Taramosalata here is delicious and authentic! And since I’ve had it in both Greece and Turkey, I’m in a good position to know authentic when I taste it. I’ve been to places where they use such a small amount of fish roe that you wonder if there is any in the dish at all. At the Greek Café, as soon as it lands on your tongue you get that distinctive salty ‘fish tangy’ flavor of the real stuff; you can even see the little balls of the eggs in the dip if you look close. Add the seasoned and grilled(?) pita bread and I’m transported to Taramosalata Nirvana; hey, it’s one of my favorite dips so I get a bit spacy(and greedy) about it! Although I could make a meal out of an order of Taramosalata, other may want something more substantial and The Greek Café delivers on that promise too. My first visit I tried the Veggie Gyro; it was tasty and somewhat satisfying; but, as a fairly new pescetarian then, I found myself still craving the Traditional(as it is called here) filled with lamb. This time I tried the Falafel Gyro; it was excellent! Although I was surrounded by three orders of the meat version being consumed delight, I was very happy with my vegetarian version! I might try the Shrimp Gyro next time if it’s possible to get it grilled instead of battered and fried. I didn’t think to ask. The place is small, but this family owned and operated spot always provides service that is attentive, warm and friendly! It’s very affordable too; most Gyros are $ 7.50.
