I agree with all the reviews that liked the Greek. We split the octopus in white beans and wine. It was a bunch of little octopuses, we think they were braised. The bean sauce was so good that we would not let them take it till they gave us some pita bread to sop up the remainder. We each got a salad, she a Salmon Salad, I a Lamb salad. Their salads are very good, lots of olives, feta, onions etc. The salmon was cooked perfect. The lamb was a shredded lamb, I mention this in case you were thinking it was kabob meat. It still was tasty though it didn’t really present as nice. Great staff, good wine and entrée price for downtown Dallas.

Place is nice, but food is subpar at best. The lamb is cheap and chewy, and not worth the price to pay

Very fast take out, usually ready to pick up within 10 – 15 minutes. We’ve been really happy with the quality of the food. Large portions and tasty food. Can’t complain here.

Wow. What a bad service experience. Granted, we visited this spot for the first time while there was a special event underway in the nearby Arts District. But good grief … don’t you think they would plan to have at least normal coverage? We were very aware of how other customers were frustrated, too. Dozens of customers waited for tables, even though they could see that half the restaurant’s tables were open. Seated diners had to get up to get drinks from the bar because staff was not attentive. There was no employee dedicated to seating guests. Our waitperson had to have been pulled from housekeeping … she did not know answers to some basic questions. Sad thing is that the food was tasty … but who cares if the rest of the dining experience is a fail?

Not impressed. We came here for dinner before a show at city performance hall and I probably won’t be back. The artichoke hummus was very salty. The accompanying pita bread was way too oily. I ordered an open face chicken pita and was disappointed once again. Again, the pita was tough and oily. The chicken was dry and tough and slathered with an overly sweet sauce. The whole pita tasted greasy and the piles of raw onion were really overkill. To top it off, it was quite difficult to eat with a fork and knife given how tough the bread was, and picking it up with my hands was unfeasible. The bill at the end of the night was the last straw — kinda pricey for some pretty lousy food. I guess the one nice thing I can say is that it has a nice location within walking distance of the arts district. It’s just a shame that the food was so poor.

Started off with warm pita bread + trio of dips(Artichoke Hummus, Spicy Hipti, and Roasted Eggplant) and had to refrain from licking the plate — only wished we’d gotten a bit more pita bread as we had to order extra to finish off the dips! As for entrees, my 18 Hour Short Ribs were literally so tender they didn’t need a knife, and the drunken mushroom sauce served with them… well let’s just say plate licking nearly happened again. Friends got the Greek Salad(very traditional affair of olives, cucumbers, feta etc. and no lettuce — lovely, light complement to some of our heavier entrees); Skewered Lamb(the accompanying risotto was perfect!); and Rack of Lamb.

This place is pretty good, but its 2 sister restaurants, both called Zizikis, are much better. They do have their signature hummus artichoke dip here, but the pita bread isn’t as good. They don’t put the spices/herbs on the bread here that they do at Zizikis. The Tzatziki sauce they put on their salads isn’t nearly as flavorful, and the salmon I had on my last visit here was very fishy. The service is great, the restaurant is beautiful, and truly it’s not a bad place to grab lunch if you’re nearby. However, if you can travel just a bit to the Knox area, I HIGHLY recommend you hit up Zizikis on Travis Walk. The one at Preston & Forest is yummy, too. You pay $ 5 for parking, and you can expect to pay about $ 18-$ 25 per entrée for lunch per person.

Get the lamb kabob with risotto. It’s ridiculously delicious. Tender, juicy lamb paired with the best(and only) risotto I’ve ever had. It was so tasty, creamy, and addicting! I was licking my plate. Yep. However, the dessert chocolate cake was a no-go. It was so plain that I could have bought a better one at Kroger!

Since this particular Spring day was incredibly warm and pleasant, a patio Downtown sounded like a perfect match for our dinner plans. Six of us rolling in after the opera crowd rush, we were parked on the patio. Our server, Johnny, was incredibly warm, friendly, and conversational. We started with a round of mostly champagne cocktails; I personally had the Onassis. I’m a sucker for a food meat & cheese plate so we started off with a big one. I was pretty hungry so I helped scarf it down quick. Upon on sever’s recommendation, I went with the Short Ribs entrée. The flavor was incredible; the meat tender. It was a nice savory fit for my tummy and left me just the right amount of food. I can’t necessarily criticize their menu because as much as I love Greek food, I’m no expert. However, their menu wasn’t exactly what I was expecting in terms of Greek. I did love the food anyways so I won’t complain. My main criticism would be the prices. Drinks and entrée prices are pretty steep. Easily 30 – 40 person person on food alone. It’s typical for restaurants in One Arts. In the end, we all had a great meal and enjoyed ourselves on the patio. I haven’t been for lunch yet but being such a quick walk from my office, I might just stop in for lunch real soon.

I was here when this space was a wine bar. I was here when this place was a burger Place. So it made since that I sampled the new rotating business. Lunch was packed and noisy with crammed seating and I had just gotten a massage. I really was not dressed for Tei An and I didn’t wanna spend a lot of money so The Greek won out. I ponyed up to the bar even tho I wasn’t feeling social. I asked the gorgeous dreamy bartender what he recommended and he gave me 4 sound choices in an even professional delivery. I chose the gyro. It was yum and under $ 10. The fries, which are really better for sharing were also really good. The baby octopus was calling my name from the blackboard specials but I decided to save that for later. The Greek is solid with good food, efficient staff and a nicely dressed business crowd all with an affordable price in the One Arts Plaza. Think elevated Greek diner with a little NYC fever. I hope they endure cause that gyro rocked and I want to get lost in that bartenders eyes again omg.

The only negative I have to express is the server we had was a little slow/frazzled/pushy with trying to get us to order the most expensive things on the menu. Guess he saw us as fresh meat. No idea. He also seemed confused what was on the dinner vs. lunch menus. Seems that their lunch menu offers more options for picky nonpork/beef/lamb eaters like myself, but I made due anyway. The food — we made ourselves a mini buffet of artichoke hummus/pita, the Yanni’s board, the Athens city grille, lamb lollipops, and a few glasses of wine. The server wanted us to get the rack of lamb and argued us out of ordering the meat and cheese board, which my starving co-eater seemed to really want to get. The server said it would be too much food to get that AND the rack of lamb. Who said they were getting the rack of lamb anyway? After that, we almost wanted to flee the scene given how pushy the guy was, but we were hungry and stayed. The hummus was a small portion(maybe 1 cup total) with 2 toasted and buttered pita rounds cut into about 6 pieces each. They will bring you extra pita if you ask, probably at a cost. Yanni’s board contained a very small portion of about 5 – 6 items from the apps list, and these were all delicious — except the Hipiti, which we wanted to just wipe off of the board and onto the floor. The Athens city grill was a big plate with a mostly boneless chicken breast, a greek meatball, two lamb pieces, all on a small pile of mashed potatoes with some mushrooms. The menu said it was served with mashed potatoes and cauliflower, so the mushrooms were a surprise. I’d have thought a place charging over $ 20 for mains could figure out how to replicate menu listings in practice, but I guess the Greek doesn’t care. The chicken was perfectly moist and the potatoes and mushrooms were good. For dessert we had the baklava with greek yogurt — we were trying to order them separately as two desserts but our server again decided to do what he wanted to do and combined them into one dessert on one plate, with significantly less of the greek ice cream than suited my fancy. Overall, the food was excellent. I gained multiple lbs from the feast, and the food with 4 drinks came to $ 100. I wish I’d not let the server walk all over my desires and that I had ordered the chicken pita despite his protestations. The restaurant is in the space in One Arts that used to be taken up by the Commissary. Parking is available in the structure behind One Arts Plaza as well as on the streets(downtown meters are free after 6pm every day). If you do go, don’t let the waiter bully you. Ignore his suggestions! It’s the only way you can reasonably be expected to be pleased with your meal and not feel like you just got shoved in a locker in an after school movie.

Food: fantastic greek food. It’s as good as it’s slightly more upscale and pricier sister restaurant, Zizikis, with many of the same dishes. And, although there are some more costly entrees, most are reasonably priced. Their pitas are my favorite because they’re so fantastically similar to the street food in Greece– especially the«The Original» because of the crispy pork. Other recs are«The Greek» if you like fresh veggies with a little seasoned olive oil and their hummus which has a more traditional texture. Atmosphere: Exposed beams, thick and rustic wooden tables, less romantic than zizikis but much more airy– figuratively and literally. It had a nice whimsical and lively energy. Outdoor seating is available in front that faces the center of one arts plaza and also on the side of the restaurant that faces the street. Service: kind of aloof. Didnt see much of our waitress. Oh, and she dropped a fork in my hair:( Parking: $ 5 valet parking with validation. It’s $ 5 for self parking in a lot across the street so its kind of a wash. Location: it’s on the ground floor of the one arts plaza with 4 our other ground floor restaurants that are arranged loosely in a circle, each facing each other, with a central stone fountain. It creates a cool setting and a true«plaza» feel.

The Greek! Sounds like a movie on the drinking orgies and profanities of college miscreants. But alas, its a beautiful song of delicious Greek food served to the tune of angels and harps chiming in the near distance. Seriously, if you are looking for great service, delicious food and a nice but not pretentious dinner out… go. here. seriously. We arrived on a Saturday night around 7:30ish, great timing on our part! We beat the theater crowd… yay. We were greeted warmly and shown to a great little table. Our waitress brought over the menus and I have to say everything, yes, EVERYTHING looked delicious. Its a wide range of food from dolmas to hummus to proper entrees to gyro’s…and more. Oh and vegetarian options avail too! Of course we wanted to drink some wine, so we asked about the Greek wine. She told us the differences of each and after seeing our decision-less faces, she brought us tasters of all of them. *high 5* We decided on a syrah blend and it was delicious! We started with the cheese tray, which to me can say a lot about a restaurant. This tray was presented beautifully and served with fresh warm pita bread — displayed 4 different options of cheeses accompanied with jams, hummus(a few options and different flavors), spreads, Greek olives and stuffed peppers. PLUS when we ran out of pita she happily brought us more. For dinner I ordered the 18hr braised beef short ribs with creamy potatoes and marinated tomatoes. This dish was so incredible, I don’t understand how they only charged $ 18 for it. Should have priced it at $ 50. At least. The waitress brought me a knife and I didn’t even use it, the meat just slid off with my fork and the potatoes. Stop. Some of the creamiest most decadent mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. The roasted tomatoes were the perfect little accompaniment. MP ordered the pork and he said his dish was better than mine, but I have to politely disagree. This was by far some of the BEST food I’ve had in a long time. The bill can rack up, BUT… I am always happy to pay $$ for delicious food. It’s so important to me when places take the time to make good food and deliver good service and not worry about other things, like the paint on the walls. Great atmosphere, food, service and a patio. Done and done. See you soon my pet Greek.

Overcooked baby octopus, melted in mouth but not in good way, octopus still had crunch beak in it! Each one!!! Also had eyelash hair in stewed beans. Geez! Fries were good. Decent pricing. Baklava is not fresh. It was cold/not flaky/and too clovey!!!

Yum Yum Yum! I got to go last week for my birthday and it was a great place to have lunch with a great friend! I really like the atmosphere, and the food was delicious and fresh. We split the true Greek Salad and the Mushroom & Arugula Flat bread. It was so good. I mean. really good. No complaints and can’t wait to go back!

I really enjoy Ziziki’s so I thought The Greek would be a fun place to try. The service was exceptional and the food didn’t disappoint. It was extremely yummy and definitely a crowd pleaser. I would absolutely would go back again and again. Hummus was perfect with warm pita bread as an appetizer. For my main course, I enjoyed the lamb salad. The lamb was perfect cooked and the tziki sauce make an excellent dressing about the lettuce, kalamata olives and generous portion of feta. I really also enjoyed the mango flavored tea, it was cool and refreshing without being too much of anything.

I was so excited to hear that the owners of Ziziki’s were opening a restaurant in One Arts Plaza… even closer to my office. This place didn’t disappoint — good food and good service. The décor is a little sparse, but might be because the restaurant just recently opened. I really enjoyed my sliced lamb pita and my coworker enjoyed her salmon pita too.

Found this place at the last moment before opening night at the opera. Delightful. Inexpensive. Delicious. Loved the lamb lollipops, artichoke hearts, lamb burger and baklava. Lovely retsina, too. Sean was our waiter. He was great. We will go back. Yay for a new place in the arts district.

This was a complete surprise and delightful too. Madame and I were headed to a concert at the Meyerson and decided to see what was nearby. The Greek had been open a week or so, so we popped in. Loved the somewhat spartan and relatively quiet atmosphere. Loved that I could not see TV. Loved that tables were close enough so you could visit if you had nice neighbors, but far enough apart so you didn’t have to. Small wine list, but with the bases well covered. A nice collection of appetizers — of which the grilled octopus was the best. The lamb lollipos and drunken mushrooms were no slouches either. So 3 glasses of wine, 3 appetizers and some bread $ 65 including tips and taxes. That was certainly enough food for the 2 of us.
