Not to be confused with Fuel City, Fuel Town stands on it’s own as yet another taco stand with a window attached to a gas station. Stopped by on a Tuesday night and was blown away by the barbacoa tacos with cheese. The meat was juicy but not runny and full of flavor. Well worth a repeat.

This place is really cheap. I don’t believe they have raised their taco prices in the approximately 10 years I have been going here. So that’s a plus, nearly enough for me to give it 3 stars, but not quite. Aside from being cheap, I don’t really understand the appeal. The ingredients are mediocre at best. The tacos are tortillas and meat and come with a side of cilantro and onions and a side of grilled onions. The grilled onions are great, and I appreciate that. However, I don’t know why anyone would want to eat raw chopped onions with cilantro. Disgusting. There are some tables inside the gas station, but pretty much everyone just takes their food to go. The atmosphere at this place is really sketchy. The Inwood/I-35 intersection is prime real estate for bums and beggars and has been for as long as I can remember. Many of the bums here have been working this corner for 10+ years. When they aren’t working cars on the corner, they are hitting people at the gas station and that includes this taqueria. The glass where you order even says not to order food for homeless people. I was hit up by a bum on my most recent visit(as was every single person at the gas station). He’s the most recognizable bum and has been working this corner since before the dawn of time. He wanted beans and rice. If he can’t afford beans and rice, maybe he should move into a different line of work. Anyways back to the food, there is nothing special about it but a lot of people think it is special so perhaps you should try it for yourself. I ordered 6 tacos, which were decent sized. I spent $ 10.50 which I think is fair. That being said I am still hungry and will probably now go to Taco Cabana for some sopapillas. Probably the best thing to do is order beans and rice with your tacos if you are a big eater… that way you get filled up and don’t spend too much money. The beans and rice are fine but nothing to write home about(taco cabana has better beans, FYI). In terms of which tacos to get, I’d recommend the lengua, beef fajita, and barbacoa. The al pastor tends to be too dry and I recall their chicken tacos being very mediocre. Tortas here are fine but not as good as what you will find at nearby La Hechizera. Of course, places like La Hechizera close early and this place is open 24 hrs a day. I noticed they were closed on Christmas but they don’t take too many days off.

This is probably my second favorite taco place(first being Paisanita). It’s in a gas station off of Inwood and 35. You can order from outside or you can enter the gas station and order inside — I suggest doing the latter if you’re here at night. It’s in a really shady area. I always order barbacoa on corn tortillas. It’s incredibly greasy. The barbacoa is probably 50% fat(reason for my 4-star rating). I prefer a higher meat-to-fat ratio. Don’t get me wrong — it’s still really delicious! I would come back again(probably during the day or with company).

I love Fuel Town tacos. Best tacos I ever had – the barbacoa is my favorite, crazy filling because of how fatty it is. If you leave it alone for a minute, you can see the congealing fat sitting in the styrofoam container. It sounds gross, but you know that’s a sign of greatness. I recently went in and they said that the barbacoa had run out, so I tried the spicy pork, pork, and chicken. Chicken is eh. The flavor could be better. The spicy pork is not all that spicy, and a little unimpressive, but the pork is nice and fatty and has great flavor. Plus the included cilantro and onion + grilled onion + lime, it’s a lot of flavors complementing each other well.

The food is delicious!!! Great cooks!!! Nice service… the location is not all that great(it is in a gas station) but there’s a window outside to order from… love this place!

There are a ton of taco places in downtown Dallas and I’m not talking like new hipster taco joints that serve tacos like«Hawaiian shrimp» I’m talking actual street tacos that only have 3 – 4 kinds of meats that are usually chicken, barbacoa, and al pastor. There’s a ton of them! But Fuel Town tacos stand out and certainly are the cream of the crop. What makes them so yummy to me is that the meat is always juicy and there’s really great flavor to them. The barbocoa tacos are the bomb dot com, I remember the first time I went to Fuel Town, I had gotten off work around midnight and was looking for some food. I ordered the tacos, drove away and then when I ate them tacos man oh man I inhaled them fast, almost contemplated driving all the way back to buy some more. I returned the next day and ordered another round of tacos, pretty sure I’m addicted to them here. The tacos come with raw onions, cilantro, lime and cooked onions! The salsa that they give you is also the perfect kick to finish off the whole taco. I will say that since it is downtown Dallas there are occasionally a few homeless people who hang out around that taco place, but I can tell you that it’s worth all the trouble going down there to get one! My goto order is 2 barbocoa and 1 al pastor taco all on corn tortilla!

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Last night my boyfriend and I wanted some late night tacos and by the Unilocal reviews thought this would be a good place. After getting our food I immediately realized it was crap lettuce and tomatoes on street taco really? I’m a East Dallas girl where you can get AMAZING tacos for example Taqueria Connin I quickly realized people that like fuel town tacos are clearly not from Dallas. Oh to make everything worse I was woken up to the worst heartburn ever! Never again will we be going to that awful place!

We got in Dallas late and hungry. I was craving for some tacos. Fuel town was the closest one to our hotel. Its a good thing i didn’t really read the reviews otherwise I would have passed this one based on the location. I didnt expect it to be in the gas station where there were homeless men asking for some money. At first I was having second thought but I figured the gas station was well lit and the guy at cashier kept them out. Plus I was hungry. Tacos were good! I had the beef one. I devoured 4! I wish they had horchata and corn though. But over all, delicious tacos!

My favorite tacos in Dallas! Yes, it’s not the prettiest, and yeah it’s in panhandle central station. And I think most food trucks have bigger kitchens. But wowza these are tasty tacos. Just dripping in fat, so maybe save it for cheat days or hungover days(for health nuts and party fiends respectively). Your best way to go to avoid the heat and solicitation and paying with cash(they at least USED to not take cards), is to pay inside at the gas station and present your receipt to the tacorista. This way you could also purchase a drink at the same time and wait for your tacos in a seat in the A/C and only get hit up for money twice(on your ways in and out). Next time you’re like, «I choose tacos…» come here.

Best street tacos in Dallas! Open 24 hours so it’s perfect for my schedule! Beef and pastor are always perfect. The quesadilla & the burrito are enormous for the cost. Staff is usually fast and Spanish friendly. Wish they had Eloté late night!(Great drunk food!)

The street tacos here are some of the best I’ve had in this area. I think these are way better than Fuel City which is overrated in my opinion. If you order late at night, keep your guard up because this neighborhood is sketchy with panhandlers, homeless, etc… just sayin! If you want really good tacos, especially late at night, this is your place!

Honestly, I don’t get it. Yes, I’m admittedly a fan of contemporary tacos like Good 2 Go and Velvet Taco as opposed to the authentic classic style joints, but I frequent the latter establishments often, and having just returned from Fuel Town I can comfortably say that there are at least three traditional taco joints within a few miles of Fuel Town that are better: La Ventana: Come Taco: Luna’s Tortilla Factory: Want to find out why? Read on. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Fuel Town is tacked onto a gas station, so it’s not much for atmosphere, but there’s honestly a refreshing, homely atmosphere that comes with a 24⁄7 spot that can pull a steady line of folks all throughout the night. Even at 2200 on a Wednesday night there were at least four or five people ahead of me in line, and while that caused my three tacos to come out a bit on the slow side, I wasn’t one to complain. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Plain and simple, tacos here are $ 1.48 each whether you go with a homemade corn tortillas or a homemade flour tortilla. Let’s see how that compares to the competition: La Ventana: $ 1.98 each Come Taco: $ 1.50 each Luna’s Tortilla Factory: $ 1.50 The cheapest of the four, Fuel Town has some really good value going on whether you’re getting a taco, burrito, torta, or a plate. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I’m not sure what I expected coming into Fuel Town, but the meat in these tacos, which is essentially all there was to them outside of some side goodies, was not of great quality. The barbacoa? Extremely fatty. The spicy pork? Dried out. The BBQ Beef? The best of the three, but honestly not enough to spark my interest. I think a star could have been salvaged here if the tortillas really blew me out of the water, but they were nothing special. I was disappointed all around. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? There are much better options nearby for authentic tacos. No Star Granted.

Mexico City style tacos, many meat selections, delicious sauces and condiments, but… somewhat lackluster assistance from the staff. The tacos you buy from a little window in the wall(hole-in-the-wall), or as it is called in Spanish, «la ventanilla». There are two ventanillas; one inside to order when you can enter the gas station and eat indoors, during the daytime; and the other on the outside, where you can order, pay, and take-away tacos at night. I think the noise level outdoors from the highway, and the kitchen noise is significantly distracting, and detracts from the experience, when you are ordering. The people taking customer orders don’t provide visual feedback which would demonstrate that they could hear what you said when you placed your order. On all six occasions that I’ve been there, they do get the order right, but it’s surprising, because they don’t seem to be paying attention. Great tasting tacos. Freshly prepared meats. Perfectly minced onion/cilantro condiment and rich, savory salsas. Five star taste, three star staff. If you’re accustomed to ordering food at food trucks, or like great deals, then this is your new favorite taco venue! Particularly bizarre between 3am til sunrise. Go there. Have fun!

These are THE authentic tacos I’ve been searching for. I would much rather come here compared to Fuel City. The actual place is attached to a gas station and has a Subway too. I ordered the Barbacoa which was my FAVORITE! I got 3 tacos and 2 sides of rice for $ 5.99 which was such a good DEAL. I loved how the tacos came with raw & cooked onions, cilantro, and limes. The salsas were very spicy so BEWARE lol. One time, I got the breakfast taco’s which were pretty good as well. I got the chorizio and eggs taco and the other one was the bacon and egg taco. Each taco was $ 1.50! I ABSOLUTELYRECOMMEND coming to this place for some street tacos!

I was told this place had delicious Lengua tacos. Keep in mind this is Fuel Town, not Fuel City which also sell tacos. However, this place looks a lot like Fuel City. You can order inside/outside. What’s different about this taco stand is that they offer sandwiches(Tortas) which looks pretty good. By far this is one of the best Lengua tacos I’ve had so far. It’s very flavorful compared to other locations. Must try!

Enter shady gas station and take a left towards the Subway. Next to the corporate giant of «healthy eating,» is its complete and tasty opposite– Fuel Town’s little taco shop. The tacos are handed out from an itty bitty window, and behind it, an impossible number of nice ladies work hard to churn out $ 1.59 tacos, $ 5.99 specials(3 tacos + rice and beans), toras, and more. It’s cheap, it’s greasy, but it’s sure darn tasty! :) You can choose corn or flour tortillas, but they will guaranteed to be literally dripping with oil(even the copious amounts of chopped onions, cilantro, and grilled onions can’t trick me into thinking that this stuff is healthy!). Al Pastor(spicy pork) was wayyyy tastier than the Carnita(regular pork), which was almost tasteless by comparison. Tacos are served with fiery red and green sauces and a grilled hot pepper-chile-thingie-ma-jig. With the ultra smooth(and guaranteed to be laden with lard) refried beans and moist Mexican rice, this Taco Special was eaten for lunch, and I wasn’t hungry to eat dinner– some heavy stuff. Next time I’m craving meat and feeling naughty, I’ll skip my healthy habits and stop by again. Didn’t see the elotes on the menu, but that might have been fortunate and saved me from a heart attack that day.

Just finished four tacos and all I can say is «wow.» I’m finding that I really like«street style» tacos and these things seriously raised the bar for what I’m going to expect as I explore DFW’s taco shops. Per other reviews, I rolled with flour tortillas. They were quite greasy and if the corn tortillas are greasier, I’m not sure I can handle them. That aside, these things are delicious. I ordered four tacos: one fajita, one carnita and two barabacoa. Barbacoa was my hands-down winner and next time I’ll be going all B. I say next time, and I mean sometime soon – this place is way too close to not be back soon. I will add that the area is fairly shady at night and I would be hesitant to recommend anyone uncomfortable in that setting to go alone.

I love Fuel Town, I really do. It’s closer and less ratchet than Fuel City, and the food here is always on point. I’m usually an al pastor person but I got to say that their barbacoa is probably my favorite. And those grilled onions though, just give me a couple of sides of that and I’ll be super happy. Cash only unless you pay inside supposedly. Why 3 stars? It was super early, 4 am on a Saturday morning, and after a long night, all we wanted were some tacos. We got there, go to the window, and they told us they were closed and that the grills were already turned off. What?! This place is open 24 hours!!! Such lies and such disappointment.
