For a rough vacation experience, you’re better off here than in the woods. The place is along Regal Row(the irony) in Dallas, & the name of the motel has since been changed to «Motel 6», probably to suggest that it’s new & improved, or is under a different management. Not sure if it is, but Google images is showing me some clean & modern(.ish) looking rooms for Motel 6, very different from the ‘Econo Lodge’ that my grandma had a coupon for, years back. We were visiting & she was treating, she insisted. First impression. You know that motel in Breaking Bad where Jesse used to get the Brown Bag Special? It’s kind of along the same ranks — or at least it was, when it was The Econo Lodge. There was a cockroach in the bathroom, & some scruffy looking dude at the lobby asked me if I knew any of the ladies that were busted the other night. What ladies? Turns out, there was a strip joint/cabaret across the street, called La Zona Rosa(which I suppose translates to The Pink Zone?), & I guess he just assumed that I was part of that krew. Really? Just… wow. 2 stars, because the experience was kind of funny & memorable, & I’m not too scared of cockroaches. Would’ve given 1 star if that cockroach had been a rat. Will I ever go back? Probably not.

Wow, this place was rough. In need of an update. Located right across from a Gentlemen’s club. The bathroom was horrible. Handle falling off, holes in the wall. Tub was nasty. Air-Conditioning worked off and on all night. Door was securely locked the night I stayed. Think I checked it a few times. Close by is a What-A-Burger, Grandy’s, a Taqueria. What can I expect for $ 60/night. Will not select this hotel again.
