The office was clean. The staff was courteous and professional. Dr. Dishman was very competent and I felt I had the best eye exam I had had in many years. He’s an extremely good eye Doctor and he wasn’t rushed at all. He takes his time. He made small talk with me during the eye exam(I guess to put me at ease) and it worked. If people want staff to be ‘overly friendly and warm’ this is not the place. These folks are ‘professional and business like’. They don’t gush with enthusiasm. But they are professional, courteous and business like. I was there for an ‘eye exam’. Not to make friends… lol. The chairs in the waiting room were indeed uncomfortable. However it was a minor inconvenience. Overall I was extremely pleased with how thorough my eye exam was. This eye doctor did certain tests other doctors don’t do and he was able to catch additional stigmatism that had been missed in my previous eye appointments with other doctors. He gets a ‘A+’ from me.

ONEHUNDREDANDSIXTYBUCKSFORANEYEEXAM?! You’ve got to be kidding me! (Perhaps, my mistake was in telling the doctor that I had to buy my glasses online because I didn’t have the funds to pay full-price at a brick-and-mortar eyewear shop, like the one he runs adjacent to his practice.) With no insurance coverage for«vision,» and being past retirement age, I wasn’t prepared for being what I firmly believe was GOUGED on the price of the eye exam, especially by a doctor who kept me waiting 45 minutes while he tended to at least two other walk-ins who had arrived after my appointment time. The office was clean, the receptionist a real charmer, and the doctor seemed distracted and looked somewhat disheveled, But the exam seemed thorough and competent. I’m sure his rather cold attitude was because I had quietly complained to the receptionist about being kept waiting. Clearly he was miffed when he heard about it. The office waiting room chairs, while«modern» looking in a cheap plastic way, were the most uncomfortable buckets I’d ever tried to sit in, The magazines were dated copies of TIME with the address stickers torn off. Nothing like a heaping helping of old news to keep you distracted while waiting to get overcharged. Never again. Dr. Dishman has seen the last of my business.

Review # 800 On the edge of Highland Park in a new red brick office building, the first floor offices were all vacant with most windows covered in brown paper. I called the receptionist and she said to come downstairs to the basement. I walked downstairs and followed a hidden open aired sidewalk passed a series of fancy architects offices and then finally this forgotten looking optometrist’s office at the end near the parking garage. I was walking around with one contact but I could see Dr. Dishman looking occupied. I almost felt like I was on a random movie set. Things felt unreal and fabricated. The down to earth ladies were both very Texas,(read loud and courteous) friendly and with it. However Dr Dishman seemed aloof and looked strange with a stoic face, fashionable Italian shoes, mad scientist hair, and a poorly ironed untucked shirt. I was feeling kind of spooky and thinking this was a little weird and not suited for kids. During my eye exam Dr. D was professional and got the job done. He fitted me for monovision contacts, so I don’t have to wear bifocals, which is something the walmart guys never did. During the exam I warmed to him, especially after he started smiling. He’s a down to earth Texas guy from Lubbock. Kinda old school and I ended up liking him. Still kind of expensive even w insurance but I thought he did a good job on my contact fitting and I will go back. They have a glasses center here as well, and it was a decent selection if small but they didn’t have what I wanted — big blocky black frames.

Terrible, terrible, terrible group of people. From the doctor to the assistant, you get nothing but condescending attitude and negative remarks. I was told that it was my fault they couldn’t get the prescription correct, including two orders of contacts that came in without the correct fit. Not sure how that is MY fault, but apparently they don’t take the blame for their own incompetence. Stay away!
