Dirty Dawgz Self Service Dog Spa

I bring my jumbo great dane to Dirty Dawgz every two weeks and the staff is awesome and they make a stressful situation (imagine the horses being navigated into the starting gates pre-​race) super smooth! Every employee truly loves dogs and are not faking it. They are pros at clipping nails, cleaning ears and look like pro-​groomers to me when I see them taking care of clients’ pups.(I bathe my dog myself.) I am too tired to write more but love them and highly recommend DD!

I really really wanted the like this place! I have been doing my own grooming for 13 years and recently moved into an apartment. My dog hates to be groomed so I save the money and do it myself. The first few times I went there it was ok. Then it seemed like they hit a rough patch. Owner was out of town and the fill in knew nothing. Owner back in town and this place was FILTHY! There were plenty of people working and no one had bothered to vacuum the groomed hair up off the floor. Mix that with giant blow dryers and you have a HUGE mess. Won’t be back. So sorry.

Love this place. It’s a neat experience for dog owners to bond and wash their dogs without having to worry about cleaning the mess up afterwards. Staff was very friendly and helpful!

I was very unhappy with the TOTAL operation of this self grooming establishment. I two large girls (dogs). We first walked in and my first thought was OH what have I done.
1^st. The place smelled like pee.
2^nd. My 125lb lab was there to be given a summer cut. Please bewear the gromming srations are so wobbly that she was trembling so much, BECAUSE the table was not STABLE.
3.The floor was a complete pondb of water with floor mats that were full of hair and dirty water.
4. Bath stations were not cleaned after each pet was finished.
The most disturbing thought that went through my head was after we were done. Which after all was really not done. I just wanted to get my girls out of there. At the register they asked for the girls names and ages. Not one request was made for shot record information. Of which I did have with me. We paid for a half done washing & body clip.
I posted one star really I would rate the experience a ZERO STAR.
OH forgot to mention my other girl (dog) is a very simple wash & towel dry the so called drying pads were so over used and small thar it took 6 12×12 drying pads to dry her.
Oh yes they do have very loud dryers that you use while she was still in the bathing station.
ALL IN ALL NOT A GREAT PLACE FOR LARGE PETS.

I haven’t washed my dog here before but their equipment looks like other dog spas I have been to. I did get my dog groomed however. Paid 75 bucks for a buzz cut and he is still shedding!

Well, my last review for Dirty Dawgz was on 01/​02/​2014 and my only complaint was about the customer service (not the actual pet washing services).
I came on 02/​13/​2015 and decided it would be my last visit to Dirty Dawgz. The employees attitude was just so bad, it really showed how little the staff cares about customers (especially those that have been coming since the place opened).
I walked in and wasn’t greeted, smiled at, nothing. The employee was washing a dog and all the tubs were dirty, so he sighed and said ‘Let me clean a tub for you’ then when he was finished he went back to washing the dog. He didn’t ask me if I had been there, didn’t ask if I knew how everything worked, didn’t ask if I needed special shampoo, nothing. Luckily I knew how everything worked.
When I was finished I walked to the counter to pay while he blow dried the dog he had been washing. I stood there for about 3 minutes until he stopped and came up to the counter. Again, no greeting, no asking how everything was, the only thing he said to me was ‘LAST NAME AND DOG NAME’ which I told him, then he told me the price ($ 17). I gave him my card and he said ‘Its $ 4 for AMEX’. I didn’t bring a purse since there isn’t anywhere to hang them so all I had in my back pocket was one card. I asked if I could come back in 10 minutes and he said no.
I paid the $ 21 and left (I wasn’t told bye or thank you, as soon as he swiped my card and I signed he went back to the dog he was blow drying). I won’t be returning.

Wonderful experience! The guy working helped me out so much! He even trimmed and cleaned both my dogs ears. I was able to wash both my dogs at the same time! They came home smelling delicious and so soft! They provide you with shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, cologne/​perfume.
I will for sure be coming back!

This is a self-​service doggy bathing house but they do have people to bathe your dog for you if you call ahead and make an appointment. Their website advertises that they will help and assist you while you bathe your dog. The first time I went, this friendly lady gave us tips and pointers throughout the whole process. However, the second (and last) time, this younger guy ignored me the whole time. Didn’t come by to see if my dog’s nails needed trimming either. So I figured I could do the whole thing at home for free and haven’t been back. Otherwise, they’re a good place for a cheaper price if you don’t mind doing it yourself.

This was my first time here and I found it when I was looking up places to clean dogs and stuff. It’s such an amazing idea since dogs are so much more used to their owners cleaning them and such and let’s them get a little more comfortable.
The guy working there was really nice and helped me out since it was my first time. The only complaint I have is that they have a bad habit of not answering their phone, so you just have to hope that their not busy when you go in.

I have not had a dog that needed grooming in years and my new Yorkie Poo that is 5 months old was getting all matted up and was just a big ball of hair. Jessica and Carlos are awesome!!! They took great care of my baby and now she can see without her hair getting in her eyes. These guy’s are great with pets «our children» and will definitely refer all my friends and family to them. Thanks Jessica for taking such great care of my baby!

Buyer beware!
I went to this place after I found that my usual location on Commerce St closed and I was very disappointed by the lack of service. I had a Groupon for 2 self-​service baths, but the guy working there flat out told me they wouldn’t take it because it was only good for one location (the Groupon actually says it’s good for both locations, but he didn’t even ask to see it.)
Also, he wouldn’t let me give my dog a bath for full price because we got there at at 6:35. They close at 7pm, but we weren’t «in the 30 minute window». I understand there are rules, but if you know a person made an extra trip after the other location was closed, wouldn’t you try to be accommodating? They just lost a regular customer over 5 minutes!
The only thing that salvaged this trip was the Taco Joint a few doors down. I got to enjoy an excellent meal before I took my stinky dog home…

Stopped by to support Operation Kindness’ dog wash fundraiser. There were plenty volunteers and stations to wash about 4 – 6 dogs at once so even if there was a wait it wasn’t for long. They gave my dog a good wash, trimmed his nails and dried him off real good. Total cost with tax was $ 17, I was very happy to support a good cause!

A home bath at our house requires wrestling moves wherein I am faster than than two geriatric bull terriers, so I usually bribe one of my grown kids to do the dogs’ baths. Saturday, however, the boys had a romp at White Rock Lake, and were smelling-​up and muddying my car on our way home, so we stopped here before continuing.
Needless to say, I did not leave Dirty Dawgz without purchasing a punch card, saving me nearly $ 30 on six future washes and making me one happy fur mommy.
It would be five stars if there were varying heights for the elevated tubs. Even better would be hydraulic controls on each of them! How double oh seven would that be? But seriously, one or two could simply be made taller.
Two important tips (well, maybe three):
Once you start up that dryer, your dog’s entire focus will be to get out of that tub, so AFTER towel drying, but BEFORE using the dryer, ask your tech/​attendant to do the free nail trim and ear clean. He or she will do it right there, faster than you can find the quick (ha!), while your dog is still in the tub!
The dryer isn’t warm (I guess heat is too big a liability), so it makes up for that with force… as in, it will blow water off a dog much the same way an air dryer at the car wash forces away water. So… hold the end of the hose as far away as you can when you flip that switch, so you don’t scare the daylights out of your yourself. Or your pup. As previous Unilocalers have pointed out, it is loud! If kindness is in your nature (and I’m sure it is, since you have a dog), you can also notify the person next to you that you are about to turn on your dryer. Unless she already has her’s blowing… then she won’t hear you. Aim the hose behind your best friend’s back feet. Work your way up his back legs, around his rump, etc., while continually shouting to him what a good boy he is, before moving to the sides, shoulders, etc., etc. As you move up toward his head, cup your hand over his ear to protect it from the volume. Let him tuck his scardey-​cat head under your armpit for good measure. Whatever you do, don’t do that wavey back and forth thing with the hose! Then it makes REALLY loud-​ass, whopp-​wup sounds. Pretend you are slowly «brushing» his coat with air.
All done! Cookie time!
p. s. Not all Dirty Dawgz tech/​attendants will do this (you have to ask!), but you can also have an anal gland expression here. For your dog, of course.

Ok, first let me preface this by saying the staff here was GREAT and they had no influence on my rating. The pricing was good too, so no worries there. My issue is with the tubs, they are just WAY too low to the ground! I completely understand that that is for the ease of the larger animals to just walk in. That being said, my back is STILL aching from bending over to wash my dogs. Additionally, I seem to have had some kind of allergic reaction to whatever soap and/​or conditioners they have. The concept is good but still needs improvement in that the tubs needs to be much higher.

This place is good. We have a dog that would not allow anyone in 2 states cut his nails. Even a Dallas vet couldn’t do it. Carlos did.

My 75lb 9 mo old Great Pyrenees got a puppy cut… the hair tumbleweeds rolling through the house were getting old. They did a great job. $ 70 for trimming (and bathing/​drying) a huge, really really fluffy dog? Schweet!
We were supposed to get a complimentary nail trim… they were still quite long — I trimmed them myself a day later. Meh. Complimentary… but still.
Also, the blowers they use are very loud. So, if your dog is a total scaredy-​cat, like mine… you may end up carrying your 75 lb dog into the store.

I go here regularly w/​my 100 lb. dog that makes bathtime armageddon at the house. It’s great! Get dirty! Get all soggy! It’s cool.
MAJOR bonus is the free nail clip with every bath — I’m too nervous to clip her black nails, since I can’t see where to stop. Most places want to charge me $ 10+ for this… pfffff, no thank you.

Sunday, open noon to 6pm… drive on up and check it out. I suggest this place for a medium to large dog… great concept. $ 16 bucks for a rinse, shampoo and conditioner isn’t bad at all when you get to walk out with your perdy pooch! Also, they clip nails while you’re there too…
So, take large dog, place in tub and use the leash to connect them. Turn on water, nice and warm to wet dog… turn knob to shampoo and it comes out of the sprayer… wash pooch, rinse again… turn knob for conditioner… rinse repeat. Then comes the interesting part for the dog… cause not all dogs like that dryer. Good luck… My baby DID NOT like it… my bad.
On a side note, if your a moron and can’t clip your own dog’s nails… for god sake, let these people do it for you. I arrived to blood all over the place because an owner had cut his dogs nail WAY to short… horrible for the dog, DO not do that, leave it to the pro’s!
They also groom for you… but I did the self service.

I love the idea of a self serve dog wash! I tell every pet owner about dirty dawgs!
If you have a dog any bigger than tiny sized bathing at home can turn into an ordeal! This saves my back, and my sanity…
I love the setup and I love the staff, very helpful.
My dog looks forward to her visits here. They provide aprons to put on so you don’t have to get your self wet if your washing yourself and your pooch decides to shake, and last time I was there I got so distracted I walked out with the apron still on… luckily I realized it before I drove away. I got a good laugh and a couple of ladies said «I’ve done that before» when I walked back in to return it.
Me and the dog are definitely regulars.

I have a 100lb dog and seeing as its almost impossible to wash him at home I am forced to bathe him elsewhere.
When you walk in you are basically greeted by pets that «hang out» all day and treats galore, its a dogs wet dream! This self serve dog wash is worth every penny!!!
The «techs» come around and clip your dogs nails, clean their ears all while you are scrubbing your pooch! If you don’t bring your own shampoo, don’t fret! This place can provide it to you at no additional charge! Hair dryer and fresh sprays are at your disposal to spritz and dry! If you don’t have time to bathe your dog yourself, they will do it for you!
I literally don’t know what I would do without this place!!!
Dirty Dawgz is the best thing to happen to the animal world since… hmm…anything!
