True diner that’s been around since the 50s, and I can see why it’s been successful for so long! Right when you pull up to the drive-in a car hop walks out to hand you a menu and take your order, but we decided to sit inside and get the full experience. First off, this place is CHEAP! I was very impressed by how inexpensive it was. We fed 3 people for $ 20. I am a huge patty melt fan, whataburger is the best but Dairy-ettes was as good if not better! A perfect amount of grilled onions and the sauce was delicious. Also came with a thick patty that was the perfect amount of meat. The fries were perfectly crispy and the onion rings didn’t fall out with every bite(which I consider a success at fast food restaurants). Also you MUST try the root beer/root beer floats in the frosted mugs. Really makes it feel like a real American diner. I will definitely be back here.

I have been eating there since 1980 and the food has been great. Went there today 1÷14÷2015 at 12:30pm and only issue I have with this place is the car hop they have. She will come to your can and not even greet you! She takes your order and walks off. When she brings your food she will tell you how much it is and when she gives you your change she keeps the coins without asking. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life.

Time warp. That’s what it is. It’s a time warp back to the best part of the 1970s(or thereabouts I suspect). The signs, the seating, the counters, the carport, the neon, the high-schoolers splitting a root beer float and a small fry between 3 of them… everything is nostalgia in the best possible way. I went out of my way to stop here(yes, found it on Unilocal — thank you). Seriously… a neighborhood burger joint called«Dairy Ette»?!? Also, one of the signs says«Sorry, no free re-fills on soda.» God that is so refreshing. Coney dog — great Fries — good Root Beer in a frosty mug — great Service — Fantastic. Got called«Hon» a lot.

Think Whataburger. Think 1960’s dinner. Great neighborhood spot, good prices, but nothing super awesome. Would eat here again if in the area, but not worth a special trip.

Kim introduced Krystan and me to this step back in time! We parked in the car hop. It was about 9:00pm, so it was cool for summer. The place was clean. Rolled down our«winders». Beeped the horn. Promptly, out came a cheery, young lady who I could tell enjoyed her job. We ordered burgers, fresh cut fries, and root beer floats. Our order was brought out on two trays. One tray was hooked on one of our«winders» up front, while Krystan got her own tray in the back. The root beer, I understand, is fresh brewed and came in glass mugs! We learned from the young lady that the place has been in business since the 50’s and is still owned by the original family, run by the grandson of the original owner. We were told to flash our headlights if we needed anything, which we never had to do because she made sure we had everything we needed. When we cranked the car back up, she got the picture and came for our trays. I can’t wait to go back! Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service.

Perfect remember the good olé days sort of joint. Amazing rootbeer floats. Fresh squeezed lemonade. Fresh grilled burgers and hotdogs. Not a place for anyone that doesn’t have«time» to relax and enjoy a classic drive in burger place. It’s not big enough for massive groups to sit together but there is plenty of seating around. I love this place and glad it’s still around with friendly folk still working here.

Love this place, When I was younger we would go all the time and loved the root beer. I have not been in probably 10 years but man have I missed it. Took my gf for a day date and she loved it as well. Burger cooked perfectly, great root beer and the handmade lemonade was phenomenal as well. Will be going back soon.

Well, the weather was just right last night for pullin’ into Dairy Ette, rollin’ down the windows & enjoyin’ a great Dairy Ette Bacon Cheese Burger w/a side of their yummy Onion Rings and a Big Ol Frosty Mug of Rootbeer! Hubby dittoed my order. It was breezy and 72 degrees last night…& the perfect«bringin’ in the Fall» burger night! DE now accepts Credit Cards! ** Dairy Ette, I hope you stick around for a long long time! I’ve been coming here since the early 70’s & I wouldn’t want to live without ya! It’s comforting to know that some things never change!

Old school drive up burger joint… It’s one of the few remaining originals! I wish there were more like it! A cheap and tasty meal that’s made from the heart! I recommend this to anyone that wants a true old school burger!

I have been coming to the Dairy Ette since I was born. My giant family has been coming since this place opened. There is no burger on earth that will ever compare. Cherry malts, the fresh cut french fries, and the most epic burger I have been blessed with the gift of life just to eat, there are just no words… (the taste and the memories contribute to all of this sheer awesomeness)

Love the history of this place. My mom went as a child in the late 50s/early 60s. I came during my high school years and return from time to time to take a step back in time. Still has a very diner/drive thru old school feel. Definitely opt for a fresh root beer in a frosty mug, can’t be beat!!! Great burgers and fries. Always made to order!!!

There is nothing like an old fashion drive in to have a good ol’ fashion AMERICAN dinner. Here at Dairy-ettes having a burger, onion rings and a pineapple shake. Here the food is good, prices can’t be beat and friendly folks. Dairy-ettes hits a home run. Glad we found this gem in our neck of the woods.

If you are looking for a classic American Drive in then look no further then Dairy Ette. This location in East Dallas was a hit, Great Griddle seared quality beef burgers with great seasoning and taste. The chili-burger is amazing, caution though it can get quite messy as they dont skimp on the chili. The Root-Beer is home made, and sold by the glass, no refills on any drinks but prices are very reasonable. They were packed on Saturday night at 7pm, they offer car hop service as well as «limited» inside dining. My only area for improvement would be the fries, they were undercooked.

What a find! This drive-in restaurant was opened in 1956 and it looks as if nothing has changed since then. Even the sign is original. They still have carhop service, although we chose to eat inside. The place is tiny and cute. Although it looks probably like it did when it opened, it was clean and the surfaces looked impeccable. It was almost as if they reupholstered everything in the exact same plastic material originally used. There are a couple of tables, booths that are very close together, or sitting at the bar. The food was pretty inexpensive. My coworker and I each ordered a cheeseburger, which is what they are known for, and we split an order of hand cut fries. I ordered a small homemade root beer, which came out in a frosted mug and was delicious! The food was awesome. Your typical greasy but delicious burger that you would expect from a place like this. The fries were good, but a little undercooked. They also had onion rings or tater tots to choose from. My only complaint is that the bathrooms, which are on the outside, were smelly and not very clean. Other than that, the experience was a pleasure.

Hot diggity damn, Dairy Ette is delicious. If you are in the mood for a good ol’ greasy spoon burger joint, this is your place! You can choose to eat inside and it is strangely similar to Dairy Queens on the inside or you can park outside and a car hop will come on out and bring your order to you. The burger is great, the onion rings are some of the best but the best thing here by far is their rootbeer float. A visit isnt even close to complete without one(or two) of these puppies and I guarantee you will be slurping it down in mere minutes. It is in an odd location and definitely not something you would just«come across» so be on the look out or punch it in your nav and get your little booty over there for the typical American meal.
