We had a great time here. In Dallas for just one night, had a rough day, and started trying to find something to eat. If nothing else, the servers will calm you down and make you feel that everything is going to be ok now. I had the one legged lobster and it was served properly and was pretty good. I can’t remember what my wife had but I do remember it was very good. Minimal wine selection, but I was able to find something I liked. The place is small and cozy and the service is just great. I will definitely return. I had an open table reservation, not certain if that would even help but we got right in. The place crowded up really quickly though, so have a plan. Valet parking.

Went a few weeks ago for the first time in about 15 years. The food was good, not great. If you want lobster, you can’t beat TJ’s, Rex’s, or the Palm, but for the price this was good too. The staff is very friendly. It feels as if you’re dining in a friends home with help. The baked potato is always welcomed as a side and the water-dwelling foods were superb as well. If you want good and affordable sea food, this is your place! The South Greenville area is a trendy area that has revamped a lot in recent times too. Give it a shot.

What can I say? Simply THEBEST! Food is always great, whether it’s the classic stuffed shrimp or a daily special. Seafood is beyond fresh, never overpowered by too much seasoning, and cooked to perfection. For those that don’t care for seafood… the filet is to die for, especially the filet and scallop skewer. Trust me, we converted a non-seafood lover with that skewer… As to service? Hands down the most attentive in Dallas, because Tom is absolutely wonderful! He has an anecdote for each dish, and is just a great person. We’ve been going here for over 15 years and never tire of this little gem. Kudos Daddy Jacks!

Im glad I tried this place. Its so close to home and had such good reviews that it was worth seeing for myself. That being said, I would not return. I cannot speak for service. We did their takeaway special which includes 2 entrees, a soup, and a salad for 29.99. We opted to add chunks of lobster to our bisque for an extra 7 dollars. Totally not worth it. I counted a total of 4 pieces of lobster in the extremely rich but underdeveloped flavor soup. For our entrees we had the horseradish crab crusted tilapia and the stuffed shrimp. Both we accompanied by a baked potato and steamed vegetables that were obviously frozen. The flavor of the dishes was average. The horseradish crust was overpowering and I am someone who loves strong flavors. The shrimp was overcooked and was stuffed to the brim with cracker filler that only added bulk to the dish. I think this place would be great for someone looking for«old school» type of food. But for those who seek quality over quantity, best keep searching.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Dallas! I’ve been dining here since they opened and I’m never disappointing. The restaurant is small and intimate with dim lighting. The servers are absolutely some of the BEST you will find in Dallas. Most of them have been working there for years and know the menu and wine list inside and out. It says a lot about a restaurant when the staff does not turn over. To me that is a review within itself. They stay because they love the restaurant and the tips are good. What does that mean? The food is awesome and consistent or the tips would not be good. See where I’m going with this :)? If it’s your first time here you MUST try one of their signature stuffed dishes. The stuffing is made with Ritz graham crackers crumbled and sauteed in butter along with a few other key ingredients they regretfully will not share with me. Try either the stuffed shrimp or the fish. You will never forget this dish and are likely to name your first born after it! Enjoy, Michael«Hopkins» Taylor

You get what you pay for, excellent fresh seafood. Cool interior and knowledgable staff. I had the crab and it was excellent. Doesn’t look like much from the street, but you’ll be happy you went inside. I’ll definitely be back to this establishment.

I’ve been looking forward to coming here for about a month after I learned they serve lobster bisque. Called ahead for a table at 7:30 on a Wednesday night. I was sat right away and given cold bread and butter packets. Server came over and introduced the specials, I ordered the bisque, crab cake and Caesar salad. The soup came out quickly and had a strange oily look. Tasted like the cream was burnt and had a weird taste. I got to the bottom to fine a hard paper like piece. Not very appetizing but I held out for the rest. Crab cake came and was a large soggy looking cake. It had a clear scorch mark on the top and bottom. The middle was undercooked and bland. The only saving grace was the Caesar salad, nice greens and a tangy dressing that I could have used more of. If it wasn’t for the salad and bread I would have left hungry. I was very disappointed and look forward to cold pizza from yesterday.

The food was great! Definitely up to standards. I honestly wouldn’t have complained about how uncomfortable the chairs were if the service was more prompt. The service is needs work, A LOT of work. My waiter, in the middle of taking our orders, disappeared without saying anything to take care of another table. Returned 5 minutes later and took the rest of my guests orders. Who does that? You can’t teach someone to care about their job. Having an employee who doesn’t care can be detrimental

Quick look rating: 5⁄5 Food & Quality, 5⁄5 Service, 5⁄5 Experience The pecan crusted trout is what to order when you come here! The setting is a nice red & white checkered table cloth with the lights dimmed low. The staff is on point from the wait staff to the chefs. This is a great place I would suggest for a date, in search of a great Trout dish, or even to relax and escape the hard work day! It’s so good I’ve even brought my mother for my birthday one year. I’ll be back!

An otherwise lonely hole in the wall is lit up solely by its red lobster neons against red walls and red tablecloths, smell of steamed lobster and buzzes of conversation around tables plated with seafood and several glasses of wine. The popular Monday through Wednesday special offers 1 lb of lobster for $ 17, 2lbs for $ 30. Glasses of wine start at $ 7. Beer is available too, but no liquor. Daddy Jacks niche is comfortingly singular — lobsters and wine, and so is its homey dodginess. The large crustaceans with just one claw each were fierce gorgeous creatures with meat varying from tender to a little chewy. For the price and low brow nature of the place I didn’t expect a top grade product but it’s a nice novel economy splurge. «Can we get a tea light for the butter?» My friend inquired in hopes to heat it under its stand. «It’s against fire code.» The down home older waitress quickly advised. «On the discounted days they use the second grade lobsters.» My friend noted. $ 50 gets you 2 lobsters, a split Cesar salad, 2 glasses of wine, and free bread on the discount lobster nights. It’s a fun quirky experience but still somehow felt a little pricey for the quality. We had fun tho.

Tried to go here tonight. Walked in and we were told they closed early because it’s Halloween. Tons of people out on the street, but they decided to close early. Very disappointing. Won’t be coming back.

I expected great, fresh seafood and this place delivered. Staff was perfect. There when we needed them and left us alone to enjoy. Food was excellent and menu made it difficult to choose just one entrée. Drinks were good. Perhaps priced a little high, but still great selection.

Went here for the first time as my boyfriend was craving for lobsters! Bonus… I saw online the special was the shellfish paella and i had to try. So we went to Daddy Jack’s! We went on a Monday night around 7pm and luckily walked right in and got a table, its a very small restaurant, makea sense all other reviews for busier nights you would need a reservation. Service was great, we ordered the clams, twin lobsters, shellfish paella and crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was great especially the lobster. Perfectly done and with clarified butter, you cant beat that. The paella was good, but the rice was not moist and there was no burnt rice in there as well, but it was still tasty, so i wasn’t disappointed. For dessert, if you still have room… the crème brûlée is the way to go. Its a small cup and was perfection :) Definetly worth a try!

I ordered the crab stuffed tilapia and could NOTSTOPSTUFFINGMYFACE. I have no idea what they put in their crab, but it was sweet. Literally and figuratively. This is an original that will outlast the many restaurants that come and go on lower Greenville. Why? It keeps the focus on the food instead of being trendy. Note: the photos on Unilocal don’t really do the interior justice. The lighting was low and kind of romantic. The pictures on here make it look much less upscale. Also, the restaurant is rather small. In a good, not-too-crowded, just-perfect-amount-of-cozy way. Great date night if you ask me. I’ll be back! For sure. Oh, and he service was excellent, too.

Don’t be in a hurry. Small placee, but there is no conern about turning tables. Food was OK, but EXTREMELY long wait for each phase of the meal. Had to ask for check twice. Meal took 2.15 hours. And this is not elegant fining. Won’t be back

One of my favorite date nights with my boyfriend and one of the places we love to celebrate milestones. The staff and ambience here is wonderful and we’ve never had to wait for a table. I highly recommend going for lobster madness(monday-wednesday) as this is when you’ll get the best deal with the lobster special(lobster with claw, side and baked potato with all the fixings). Wine is really affordable and if you’re celebrating an anniversary, you’ll likely get something for free(last time we got two classes of champagne and a dessert on the house). We really love coming here and bringing out of town guests here too!

We ate here for our anniversary in March, 2015. The food was good. I had the pecan crusted trout, my wife had the stuffed tilapia. We shared a lobster potato cake appetizer. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The only negative I can share about the place is that it is REALLY small. Seating capacity is probably about 50 people. Luckily for us, we got there at 5:30 when the restuarant opened. Otherwise, A RESERVATIONIS A MUST!!! The place was packed within about 40 minutes and they could only take people who had reservations. People who showed up without a reservation were put in a sort of «no-reservation detention» outside and had to wait until they could be accommodated. Long story short, we liked the place. Lower Greenville has soooooo many options, so if you’re sure what you’re in the mood for, just peruse Lower Greenville and you’ll eventually find something!

My husband and I were down in the area intending to go to another restaurant but it was cold so we saw the sign for Chowder house and decided that would be perfect for a chilly night. When we walked in we realized it was quite a bit nicer then what we were expecting from a «chowder house» for Monday night dinner. But we were already there and my husband loves seafood so we thought why not. We started with the special — crab fingers. They were delicious in a rich butter garlic sauce(there goes the diet). I loved the fact that they left the bowl and brought as more bread as we were continually dipping up the extra butter, it went perfect with the sour dough. It wasn’t the best bread I have ever had, but it went good with the meals and they brought out more without being asked. My husband ordered the Cioppino(also a special) and I had a bowl of clam chowder. I could not believe how much seafood was in his Cioppino — it was chocked full of a lobster tail split, a large lobster claw, clams, mussels, scallops(my favorite and they were large ones), and shrimp. He said the broth was very hot when it same out and amazing. The only complaint was he got the leftovers wrapped up to go and he said he thought the container they brought back had a lot less then he had left. The clam chowder was very solid with a little more complex flavoring then normal. The prices were higher, but not outrageous for all the food we had. Service was a little impersonal, but they were very quick which was nice for a Monday night. Overall it ended being a very nice surprise date night.

The lobster special is worth a visit. 1lb lobster(one claw) with a huge baked potato and steamed mixed veggies. Monday to Wednesday, dine in only, for $ 16.95. They also have a crazy $ 30 dinner for two take away option that includes two entrees, a large caesar and a pint of soup which I will promptly be back for! The interior of Daddy Jack’s is so adorable, with red and white checkered vinyl table cloths, and aprons on all the wait staff. The host was nice and offered to come grab us when our table was ready from the next door bar. We took him up on it, and were having a great time until the door guy rudely kicked out my friend for dropping a glass and then went back to staring at his phone while guarding the front door. It makes me sad that the owners wouldn’t realize this guy is bad for business(for both places) and retrain him before sending their patrons over there to be offended. At any rate, we were still hungry and fell into the sunk cost fallacy so we waited for our table. I’m glad we did. The food was delicious and the service inside Daddy Jack’s impeccable. I would be happy to take any visitor, relative, or friend there for a meal and not worry about shitty service or dirty plates. I wish I could say the same about their bar next door. :/
