We went to Coal Vines to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Our server was attentive, but our food took over 30 minutes to come from the time we ordered. I got the Shrimp Risotto and it was an extremely small portion. I wish I would have gotten the pizza, since that looked much more appetizing. If you come here, I would only order the pizza because that is what they are known for. A lot of the other side menu items are not good at all. My friends got the Spaghetti & Meatballs, which was sub-par and my dish was not filling and was extremely salty. They have a great wine list and the appetizers were great! I would just stick to the pizza next time!

Let me start by saying the pizza is great. However, the service is horrible. We walked in on a Saturday night. There is no host/hostess. We stood in the doorway 10 minutes and no one acknowledged us. We had to flag three people down before we could get help. We had a party of 8(we did call ahead three days before but we’re told they don’t accept reservations) our party of 8 was stuffed around a round table meant for 6. I’m not sure why since there were many tables open. Our waitress was pretty horrible. We ordered a bottle of wine and she brought us the bottle but did not open or present us the bottle. She asked us if we were ready to order and we told her yes and then she walked away. Not impressed. The pizza was good but there is a lot of good pizza. Go somewhere that has the service and the food. Would not recommend.

Very good pizza and really big size. We had the special with delicious cheese, arugula and prosciutto. It was great. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Look forward to going back.

I have been to Coal Vines many times on dates and with groups. In both scenarios, the service is always great and so is the food. The brunch is great and usually when we go we get a free appetizer while we wait for our food. They have a great selection of wine and the prices are very reasonable as well.

I had a fabulous pizza and bottle of wine here. It’s really nice inside and convenient to anyone who lives in uptown. There’s free valet parking and the staff is nice.

Good pizza with medium to thin crust that is flavorful and chewy. Decent wine selection. Covered area with outdoor seating. Take out door and two parking spaces — the rest is valet only. My only nit: there wouldn’t be a grease pool on top if they cooked the pepperoni a little bit before putting it on the pie.

This was the first stop/meeting place for the Texas Winos tour. There were about 50 of us and we were seating in a back, private dinning type room. It was family style eating with salads, pastas, calamari, and lots of pizza! The food was great and the little service we required was pleasant! I honestly don’t know how the prices are because our food was included with the wine tour package but I’d like to go back and try them out again without the large group setting! From what I can tell parking is a little tricky, it looks like they do offer valet but I’m not 100% sure because I got dropped of(didn’t want to risk driving after 7 hours of wine tasting). So I really have no complaints. hopefully I’ll get to go back soon.

I love the way this restaurant is set up with an open air kind of concept and the room with all the wine bottles is pretty neat. I am not going to say that this is the best pizza I have ever had. I’ve tried their white pizza and spicy meatball pizza which was all pretty good. The slices are huge! I usually am full after one slice. The reason I don’t think this is the best pizza is because the pie is usually doughy. So whether you bite into it or use a fork and knife, it never feels like its fully cooked and that is unappealing to me. I also don’t like when the pie is so flimsy that cheese/toppings slide off easily. It just all seems very sloppy. But that’s just me. I am not gonna give them leas stars based on my preferences because their pizza is really pretty good and they do use quality ingredients. Enjoy!

This place is epic. I came on a date here and was very pleased. The ambiance is great right in Uptown Dallas, the music was awesome and our waitress was very good. The pizza selection had me drooling and we even left with some leftovers. Will come back here.

Service always great food fresh! Wine yummy no happy hour. But I’m relaxed on one glass so all good. This location and Addison similar atmosphere. This is no Pizza Hut. The non pizza dishes are so great go for it. I use to come here often for Company diners. But I find it a nugget of a treat to splurge w no regret here.

I’m excited to write this review. I am always ready to try a fun italian place and this was no different. The patio area that is covered but with big open windows was a great summer spot. In the winter it looks like they have heaters so it is perfect for any weather :) I think the prices are reasonable because there are lots of wines that are fair priced or you could splurge and get a really nice bottle. The glasses were around 8 – 12 dollars. I split a bottle of Chianti with my boyfriend for 30 bucks and it was a wonderful bottle. We then split the white special pizza and the penne vodka pasta. The waiter even split the pasta into two separate bowls… I always appreciate this! I absolutely LOVED the penne vodka pasta. It was wonderful. We then spoiled ourselves and tried the tiramisu. It definitely made the top 10 list but not my favorite. Overall, a really sweet date night spot! I’ll definitely be back :)

I’ve been coming to the Coal Vines Uptown location for years now and it’s just as good as the Shops at Legacy location. The only thing that needs work about the Dallas restaurant is the waiting area. They don’t take reservations, so it’s walk-ins only. With so many people coming in on the weekends, there is literally nowhere to stand to get out of the way. You will find yourself trying to find a nook to stand in, but still you are either on top of someone else’s table where they are trying to eat, or else you are in one of the servers way while they are trying to move around to get to the tables. Perhaps they should block off one little section of the restaurant for waiters so that they don’t feel reluctant to come back and the diners that are sitting don’t feel like their tables are being imposed upon. If you’re lucky to sit in a good spot of the restaurant away from all of the traffic, it can feel very romantic. I always try to get a bottle of wine to start my dinner off since they have a nice wine selection. The pizza here is wonderful. I do think that they are a bit heavy on the tomato sauce, so I have to always ask for less tomato sauce in order to get the perfect pie. The Pepperoni is by far my favorite. Sometimes when I don’t feel like getting out, I pick up a pizza to go. I can’t ever get enough of their Spinach salad that comes with candied walnuts and pears. This is one of the best salads ever. As long as I put the dressing on myself, I never have to feel guilty about eating this salad. Try it out!

The zucchini chips were really good! I think the food was pretty solid here but did not stick out that much. The wine selection was very good and I can see this being a nice place to go to during the summer and have outdoor seating. We went while it was freezing cold so I could see how the experience could be different. The pizzas we got(sausage and roasted pepper and vegetarian ones) were HUGE. We shared 3 pastas and 3 pizzas and a few apps amount 8 people. We had the calamari which was good.

I highly recommend this restaurant… this is my fiancé and I’s favorite restaurant… not only because the food is amazing(white special with shrimp) but the customer service is very rare. For example On a busy Saturday night there was a mix up in my to-go order when I got home… so I called to let them know and I spoke with Chef Angelo… now keep in mind this place doesn’t deliver… but Chef Angelo insisted he remake my order and drove from the location and hand delivered it to my HOME!!! WOW!!! Every place needs a Chef Angelo!!!

This place is PERFECT for lunch. The location is owned by Nick and Sam’s and is SUPERIOR to the Coal Vines in Southlake. It was a Parisian summer type of day, and the entrée was elegant, Euro-style. The restaurant was appropriately spaced out. There was a backroom indoors which might be a reservable space. Restrooms were single toilette and clean and spacious. Their sandwiches are better than their pizza. My favorite plate I’ve tried so far is the caprese. The salad was delicious, and don’t forget to order the bruschetta! My mom’s favorite was the lemon mascarpone cake. I LOVE fresh, real food. Our server was Samantha, and we had a wonderful time. Thank you!

Came in for lunch today. This was my second time. Arrived kinda late around 12:45 so I don’t know if this had anything to do with the reason why I feel compelled to update my review… After we were seated, our server promptly came over and took our drink order and asked if we wanted to start out with an appetizer. We opted for Caesar salads. Should’ve gone with the calamari cuz the salads, while good, were not as good as I remembered on my first trip. I guess my salad was a bit short on dressing. When she came back to take our lunch order, I asked if they still brought out the complimentary fried zucchini slices that I adored on my first visit. She brought some out alright — they were COLD! In spite of being cold, they were still amazingly tasty. Then the pizza arrived — a large size when I specifically ordered a small. No worries though, she said she put the order in incorrectly and comp’d my bill for $ 8 bucks, so that’s cool. The large pizzas are huge here! We couldn’t eat it all so we took the leftovers to go — pretty much like everyone else does who orders pizza at this place. By the way, the pizza was awesome — nice, thin, crispy crust. Mmmmm! Service was so-so. Our waitress was nice enough, but I was a bit taken aback that they would bring out cold fried zucchini. Kinda sucky but whatever.

I have such a huge soft spot for this place. It’s hands down one of my favorite places in Dallas to come and eat at when I’m in town. The food is amazing — the people are trendy and the ambiance is nothing short of amazing. Overall this place has a great vibe and great food. I love coming here with my girlfriends and catching up with some good ol’ fashion pizza and wine. The location is rather small, so you can always hang by the bar if there’s room or you might have to wait outside in the parking lot. I’ve ordered to go from them a couple times, but it doesn’t do it justice like sitting inside and eating it pipping hot.
