After hearing about this place for the last couple of years I decided to try this well reviewed steak house. I got the 14 ounce rib eye. Should have guessed that it would be thinly cut. Medium rare would have been a better choice than medium. Steak was flavourful but seemed a bit small for the advertised weight. Salad was basic with an up charge of six cents per cherry tomato. The potato was undercooked and the ice tea was weak. It wasnt a bad meal, there is plenty of parking, but I guess that they will have to make do for the next fifty years without my return. There are better more conveniently located restaurants for the price paid.

Great specials, quick fresh service, great desserts. So everything comes with baked potato(or fries), a salad to which you can add any extra sides you. They recently remodeled the place, definitely old school Oak Cliff place to eat.

No frills restaurant with great food. If you’re in the area to go to the Texas Theatre, check out Charco Broiler. There’s no way to miss it, it has a giant cow on the roof. Their food is fresh and delicious. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. The place may look a little run down but it’s fantastic food a friendly service. Try the fajita sandwich.

I love the idea and the price but my husband had the chicken fried steak and I had the catfish and they were both bland. I loved the fresh salad and baked potato but we won’t be returning. Service was a little slow and we found ourselves looking around several times for the waitress when needing assistance.

Came here today cause we were going to the texas theatre. The place is a little run down but the food is pretty good. The chicken fried steak is fresh and tastes really good. It’s very simple, but the food is decent. And cheap!!!

Simple menu; meat, potatoes and salad. Nothing wrong with that at all. What’s better? It’s cheap and well made!

This place is a Dallas institution. I’ve been going to this family-owned and operated restaurant since I was little enough for a booster seat. Inexpensive and delicious. You owe it to yourself to at least try.

I just had the worst experience ever in this place and I will not be back. I ordered a sirloin, and before I even cut into it, it had this old meat smell. The taste was awful! When I told one of the cooks he said«that’s how that cut tasted» I have had many sirloins in my days and I know, not one has ever tasted like old meat. The cook offered to make me another cut but then had the cashier that already had a bad attitude come charge us. I asked for a refund and she walked away with out saying a word or even an apology. I know this is not a high quality steak joint but your food should have quality. Worst customer service and food quality. One star only because I had to choose one to post this review.

Cheap eats. Good food(don’t bother with tomatoes for the salad ours were gross). Fed 5 for under $ 40. Old Oak Cliff!

I had not been to Charco Broiler Steak House in 20 years until I went a few months back. My visit then was very good so I decided to go back again today. My T-bone steak was outstanding and the rest of my group loved their chicken fried chicken, grilled chicken and chicken fried steak! The bang for the buck at Charco Broiler is difficult to match if you compare apples to apples. I will be coming back…

We went here after Belinda checked reviews on Unilocal.I think the biggest positive is its location. Right down the street from the Texas Theater in Oak Cliff, where Oswald was arrested. The food was just ok and the service was nothing special. I can’t imagine going back.

This place is a hidden gem in the heart of Oak Cliff. One of best place steak houses in Dallas that isn’t going to cost an arm and a leg. I highly recommended this place. They been here since 1963, they must being doing something right.

50 years strong in OC. I had the large rib eye & it was pretty damn good. The people move you quickly through the cafeteria style lines remind me of an old school lubys & it was pretty hot up in there. I’m not much of a steak eater but this place is a staple in the real oak cliff. Despite what most might tell you bishop arts is not the real OC. You need to get here try the food and support a local family business. There is no way you can miss this place with the giant cow on the roof. Do yourself a favor and check out the scene. They have ample parking on the side and in the back lot. Don’t be scared its not bad at all.
