I 2nd and 3rd the 1 star review. Disgusting Chinese food… Prepared with no skill or care for taste. The worst restaurant in the Frankford/Tollway corridor.

Place is called Iron Wok now! Quick service, great food! I ordered takeout and food was ready when I got there, hot n tasty when I got it home, wish they added more rice with the entrée :)

Overpriced, bland and low quality food prepared in 60 seconds or less. Friendly staff.

Yes, the name of this place has changed to Iron Wok. I honestly feel bad for giving this restaurant only one star because the staff is so friendly and helpful. But unfortunately, it doesn’t make up for the food. My boyfriend and I came here once before at dinner time. As we were approaching the restaurant, I noticed that no one was inside. The place was completely empty on what should have been a busy night for most restaurants. I promptly grabbed my boyfriend’s arm before he opened the door and suggested we eat elsewhere. Because of the convenient location, however, we decided to try again. And I didn’t want to judge a restaurant without even trying their food. We came late on another day, about an hour before closing time. The staff was still very nice to us, and they weren’t trying to rush us out the door. The place was completely empty again, but we figured no one was there since it was close to closing time. After we ordered our food, we got our drinks and sat down in a booth. Probably less than a minute later, all of our food came out at the same time, including the steamed dumplings. Sure, it was quick service, but it was a little too quick, and it made us question the quality of the food. We had the General Tso’s chicken, which wasn’t good but tolerable. What wasn’t was the szechuan beef. The few strips of beef were fairly small, and the entire dish was overwhelmed by the flavor of bamboo shoots. I couldn’t get over that taste and barely ate any of it. We had asked for extra hot peppers, hoping it would be spicier, but it wasn’t. Although the staff is nice, I didn’t enjoy the food and would be reluctant to try this place again.

The name of this place has apparently changed to Iron Wok… but after reading the other two reviews… it is obviously the only thing that has changed. Other than their claim to be able to fix any dish to any patron’s specific dietary specifications… I don’t see how this particular Chinese Restaurant has any claim to anything more than a single star. If you are looking for some good Chinese food… drive under Dallas North Tollway and check out Rice Kitchen in the Albertson’s shopping center.

I’m feeling a little guilty about the kudos I received for the no-brainer 5-star review of Pappa’s Steakhouse and I just read Sameer’s positive review of Joy Luck as one of the better Chinese places in Dallas and I feel compelled to note how horrible the food at Cathy’s Wok on Frankford can be. First off, the initial review in the DMN had good things to say about this strip mall pretender so I visited. I would gladly have paid double to eat at the worst fast food Chinese mess in town!!!(Manchurian Wok in the Stonebriar mall that means YOU) Overcooked meat, bland sauce and crunchy stemed rice? If I wanted that I could have purchased a frozen dinner and left it in a microwave for an hour. Considerding this looks like a family-run business and that family is as rude as possible, lowers the experience even more. If you are even remotely considering Cathy’s Wok, take a deep breath, grap the phone book, close your eyes and point at another Chinese restaurant. I guarantee it will kick Cathy’s ass!
