Bonnie & Clyde’s Cheesesteak Factory

Don’t judge this book by its cover. It’s definitely a food shack. But the Philly Cheesesteak is the best I have had in Texas. Lots of meat and cheese and the French fries are big and crispy. I’m glad I bought the Groupon or I would have never found this place. Its pretty much in a residential neighborhood. It’s a bit of a drive for us but when I want a cheesesteak, This is where I will always go. The only downside. They run out of things and the hours of operation are not consistent.. Call ahead

Decided to buy a Groupon and try out this place. Boy, was I glad we did! It was the next best thing to a trip to Philly! Soft, fresh loaves of bread filled with juicy, well-​flavored frizzles of beef – mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. And it was juicy, not just greasy like the cheesesteak sandwiches we have gotten elsewhere in town. And to accompany it, we had some great snowballs: blueberry and strawberry. Their menu says they have 80 flavors, so I am sure there will be something you like! THe ice is soft and easy to eat and is well-​drenched in syrup so that you don’t have to worry about running out when you get to the ice at the bottom of the cup. We had the small size; my husband finished his, but it was a little too much for me although I hated to give up any of it, (my husband graciously volunteered to finish the last few bites for me!!!) it was so good.
The lady working the window was so helpful and gracious and eager to please; I can’t say nice enough things about her and her service. It was the best.
If I could have given half stars, I would make this place 4 ½ instead of just 4. The plus is the food; the half off is: 1. they were out of onion rings, and it was only early afternoon; 2. my husband thought they didn’t put enough cheese on the sandwiches, especially since we got the «Clyde» that was supposed to be double meat and cheese; and 3, (THE BIGGY) the location. I don’t know if I would be up for this part of town at night; luckily we were there mid-​afternoon. You order at a tiny window mostly covered with bars, and if you don’t want to eat in your car or take your food to go, you have the choice of sitting in the sun in one of three or four kind of flimsy looking folding lawn chairs (my husband is a big guy: he took one look at the lawn chairs and opted for eating in the car despite the 100 degree temperature…) Unpretensious doesn’t even begin to describe this place (shack is more like it…) But when food this good comes out of it, who is going to complain??! We’ll be back — soon!
