Bliss Raw Café & Elixir Bar

I REALLY wanted to like this place. The concept of a raw restuarant serving fresh juice was really exciting. And thus begins my experience…
My boyfriend and I went there on a Thursday evening because he knew how much I wanted to try this place.
It was about 7 30pm and the lights were out, I thought it was closed! We walked in and it was just dimmly lit. Intimate setting I thought. WRONG. The lights were not working. In fact it went out 3X while we were there within 15 min. OH did I mention in the Texas summer that their A/​C was out and they had a gaudy fan in front of a small A/​C unit to circulate the air? +1 star for ingenuity.
This is only the beginning.
I decided to order juice since we were there. It’s a bad sign when the [only] waiter has to smell the juice to ensure that it’s still good and ask the maintenance guy if he should use the juice IN FRONT OF US. –1 star for tact.
$ 7 juice, I thought it would have actually been JUICED from fruits and vegetables, not OJ from a bottle! ON TOP OF THAT. Maybe I’m being stereotypical, BUT, I assumed that a raw vegan restuarant would be more green than your average restuarant. Please tell me WHY they served my juice in a 8 oz PLASTIC cup??? If that were the case, I should’ve just gone to Jamba Juice for twice the amount and half the price. At least there they have FRESHLY squeezed OJ.
Needless to say, 1 star rating because I had to give it a star to review.
Great concept, HORRIBLE SERVICE/​management, entertaining experience.

Visited this place when I was in town for business, and it was a breath of fresh air. I had the kale salad and a cup of coconut curry soup, and got out with spending less than $ 15.
The kale salad was enormous, and included tasty additions including sun dried tomatoes, olives, tomatoes, avocado and a yummy dressing.
The coconut curry soup was also delicious, and a cup size was the perfect accompaniment to my salad.
It’s hard to find raw restaurants that serve quality food at a reasonable price in such a beautiful atmosphere. Bliss fits the bill with flying colors.
Be prepared — from what I could tell, they take cash only. There is a Bank of America ATM around the corner.

Had been wanting to try this place for a while. The Kale Salad was very good but kind of disappointed with the Pad Thai and Pasta with ‘Meatballs”.
As the name suggests, everything is vegan and uncooked (although I thought it would be clever if the only thing hot on the menu was the gazpacho). I guess I’m not quite ready to be a vegan because the «raw» take on things like Pad Thai just didn’t work for me. Can’t you just cook some noodles?
Worth a try but doubt I’ll be a regular.

Bliss is definitely a unique gem in Dallas, but I thought they were a little overpriced, and the service was awful.
The food was decent enough, the coconut kale enchiladas were very good, as was the Blissfully Green elixir. However, I simply could not get past the chalkiness of their Bliss brownie, but I’m sure that raw vegans are used to those issues. The veggie sandwich didn’t do anything for me, but I’d be willing to go back just for another elixir.
My waiter was friendly, but slow and both times I visited seemed like he was new to the job, which I don’t think he was. The owner is incredibly friendly and fun to talk to though! If you get a chance to meet her during a lull in customers, she’s very open and knowledgeable about raw and vegan eating.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is outstanding and the ambience is so cool! My favorite items are definitely the chocolate bliss (it’s a drink… but it’s kind of similar to chocolate mousse, it’s heavenly), the Greek and California pizzas and the corn chowder gazpacho. Some of their Asian dishes and gazpachos can be pretty spicy, so if that’s not your style, be sure to get it w/​o cayenne or the little spicy black things, not sure what they are. :)
Since this is a small, raw restaurant, there are 1 – 2 employees, so just go there when you have some time to spare. Sometimes it’s relatively quick, and sometimes it’s most definitely not. It just depends on how busy they are.
The restaurant is pretty small, so if you’re going with a large group, it would be wise to call ahead and be sure they can seat all of you! Enjoy this restaurant, it’s one of the best!

I have heard some gossip that the owner of Bliss is unscrupulous and uses sub-​par (ie, not organic) ingredients.
That said, it’s the only raw food café/​restaurant in Dallas, and it’s relatively close to my office, so I eat there kind of often.
It’s always clean, the food is always fresh and yummy, and I have no complaints other than it’s a smidge cramped inside, but at least there IS an inside unlike the old location!
I highly recommend the raw pizza– a delicious dehydrated crust topped with nut cheese and piles of fresh veggies, pineapple, and avocado!

I’m with Persia A. on this place for many reasons because #1 she’s always right and #2 I had the pleasure of dining with her here.
I would say the food was fresh, light and didn’t lack in the flavor department but it was pricey for the quantity of food we received and we both could of used a trip to a drive thru somewhere after.
Another complaint that I would add is the plant hanging above our heads (they were nice a décor touch) but they weren’t so awesome when fertilizer started to drop over our table.

The food deserves 3 stars but the service doesn’t even deserve 1 star.
Walked in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. I love raw food and try to eat raw as much as I can, so I was happy to find this restaurant when I was Google-​ing for places to check in while in Dallas for work. It’s a small café, so there’s no host/​hostess stand and there wasn’t anyone from the staff available so I just sat at a table, hoping that was the right thing to do.
The restaurant was pretty much empty, but I sat and waited for what felt like a long time until a server approached me and handed me a menu. And as soon as he handed me the menu, he asked if I was ready to order. Um… not yet, buddy!
I could have memorized the menu by the time he came back. I placed my order and then he said, «Oh…our credit card machine is down. You can pay by cash or check. Is that a problem?» Well yes, it was a problem. I don’t carry much cash and this was a meal I could expense for work, but I begrudgingly decided to order anyway and pay with a check. (who even knew you could pay with a check in a restaurant?)
I started my meal out with Phở. Liked the zucchini noodles and the salty broth. For my entrée, I got rawko tacos. I feel like I could have made a better raw taco, to be honest. They were completely unmemorable. Except for the mountain of lettuce that exploded out when I took a bite. They were lacking flavor and the presentation was kind of weird — the two tacos were brought to me «open face» on a plate. Made them very hard to fold and eat.
I flagged down the waiter and asked about dessert. He mumbled something about cheesecake and then went back to talking to the kitchen staff about reality tv shows. By that point I was ready to get the heck out of there. He plunked down my check and walked away and I had to approach him to ask about writing a check for my bill. So weird. The server was so apathetic, I think I could have walked out without paying and he wouldn’t have noticed.
So overall, not worth the drive from my hotel. The food was ok, but I’ve had better. I know that raw food generally costs more than a «regular» meal, but I’m not sure my tacos were worth $ 15. I really think the owner needs to put up a sign indicating that credit cards aren’t accepted or find a good merchant services vendor to help them get set up to take credit cards. And possibly hire someone who is more interested in helping customers than chatting with co-​workers.

I am vegan but I’m not 100% raw. My mom and I went here when we were thinking of going 100% raw.
I’ll admit, I was a tad nervous. And boy were we surprised! First off, the setting is SOOOO beautiful! We sat outside (when it wasn’t as hot out) and loved it! I love that they even used recycled items for their decorations. There were plants galore. It was just beautiful!
We were so surprised by the food. We got the Margarita Pizza and the Rawko Tacos! The food was vibrant (well…it is veggies and fruits… how can it not be) and SOOOOOO flavorful!
We already plan on going back and will probably try the Enchiladas and/​or the Pad Thai.

This place is in a little strip mall, so when you put the address in your navigator, it’s still hard to find. The inside is smaller than a Starbucks, so don’t bring a group or children.
It’s 100% vegan & raw. Meaning no cheese or gluttony of any kind. We started off with the gazpacho, which was INCREDIBLE! It was pineapple cucumber, so that was flavorful and great & cool.
We also ordered a Greek pizza & enchiladas. The were flavorful & full ov leafy, leafy greens. We completed our meal with a cheesecake.
I did enjoy the flavors of this place, but I must warn you: do not go here for indulgence. Like I said, no cheese, no bread, no fatty, warm, gooey things. Of course, the bright side: super healthy, and very, very low in calories.
Also, when we went, they weren’t accepting credit cards. Be prepared with cash!

So you’re some kinda hippie and you like to eat strange things. Are you a vegan? Probably, and if so this place is for you! You’ll fit in great with your canvas shoes and animal friendly lifestyle.
Me on the other hand, I’m pretty sure PETA stands for People Eating Tasty Animals. But I do enjoy vegetarian foods and restaurants.
Unfortunately I didn’t have anything I liked here. But I can appreciate that it was made with plenty of care and was well prepared.
I had the spaghetti and meat balls. But I should have ordered something that was suppose to be cold since I like pipping hot spaghetti with meat this was a real disappointment. My date who claims to be raw vegan (while wearing leather shoes) didn’t finish her plate either but we both tried each others dishes. She liked mine more than hers.
I left craving a hamburger. :)

Props to having raw vegan in Texas! We got the pad thai and the kelp noodles tasted like they were straight out of the package (not soaked for softer texture or even rinsed free of the brine). Gross! We had sushi and the california pizza which were better than at a lot of other raw vegan places I’ve tried so it made up for the yucky pad thai. The hemp salad was one of the best i’ve ever had. Yumm-​o! What’s good is really good and what’s bad is really bad here.
It’s located in a strip mall with only two parking spaces out front (this is still Texas people). The décor is really chintzy and flimsy. Seriously, Ikea would be an upgrade here.

Raw Foods?! Sorry grand-​dad you are probably rolilng over in your grave, but I’m a fan of Bliss Café!
Cocounut kale enchiladas had the most incredible flavors, and I cannot wait to go back and try everything on the menu.
Atmosphere is light, airy, & pretty, and after eating the delicioius and feel good foods, you will feel like a million bucks and like you are in California or in your crazy aunt Lyn’s kitchen waiting for her van dwelling boyfriend to come be-​bopping thru doning his most upscale tie-​dyed button down shirt.
Service is super friendly, fun, and makes you feel at home.
I must return very very very soon.

Verdict: Bliss proves that tasty, unique dishes can be created using healthy ingredients.
Atmosphere: Small, hole in the wall, mom and pop casual establishment. There are maybe 10 tables in the place.
Food: I was hesitant about going to a raw, vegan restaurant, but the Coconut Kale Enchiladas and Greek Pizza were excellent. We also had the brownie and vanilla cheesecake, I liked the cheesecake, but I didn’t really like the brownie, but the girl at the table next to us loved the brownie and was almost licking the plate clean.
