DO NOT GIVE HIM ANY MONEY BEFORE THE JOB IS COMPLETED!!! I live in the Houston area and hired him to trim and landscape. Even though in the beginning when he was selling himself, he stated he would NOT ask for money up front, I made the mistake of giving him 90% in good faith after he DID ask and after several weeks has not completed the work he was paid for. When he answered my calls at first, he gave excuses of being out of town, but now after calling both his phone no. s, Houston and Dallas, he doesn’t answer nor does he call back. He agreed to replace my flower bed borders, hauled off what I had and now my beds are BARE. He broke my fencing, too. HE CHEATED ME OUT OF MY MONEY!!! And by the way, I paid him $ 1000. So he was paid well. It seems he has complaints on the BBB site for both Houston and Dallas. DO NOT USE AFFORDABLE TREE SERVICE!!!

I guess it is affordable because they do not show up. The owner seems very nice. He made two separate appointments to show up and never did. If he did not want to do the work, or could not, he should have contacted me, so the work would be done.
I did not look up the reviews for his business until just now. It appears I was spared some grief, because he did not show up.

In the spirit of fairness, I have removed my previous review. At the time of the initial post the work had not been completed as promised and I was having difficulty getting satisfactory responses to my phone inquiries. A few days after my posting the work was finally completed.

Hello, My name is Charles Sayles. I am the owner of Affordable Tree Service here in Dallas Texas. The complaints listed below are not valid. Christopher C job was completed. He paid 175.00 for us to clear his driveway in sub freezing temperatures during last years ice storm. We helped when nobody else would help him. We were asked if we could come back after the storms and trim one small branch. We were unable to return and he demanded a full refund. This individual is a prime example of a person wanting something for nothing. The job was completed. As for Tiffany F, We completed all of the work, ground both stumps and hauled 7 loads of debris from her residence. She became upset because it took the city of Dallas a week later than expected to pick up the remaining debris. All of my employees were paid in full and we did cash her check immediately due to the fact that we were concerned that the check may not have cleared if we had waited. As far as upset in Sachse is concerned, we completed all of the work just as we agreed. WARNING ! IF YOU ARE GOING TO WRITE REVIEWS. MAKE SURE YOU TELL IT STRAIGHT OR YOU MAY VERY WELL FIND YOURSELF DEFENDING YOUR STATEMENTS IN A COURT OF LAW. I have been in business 25 yrs and have thousands of satisfied customers. Be warned, do not use this company for your tree removal and trimming. He seemed very professional, until he left us with 2 large loads of tree stumps from the 2 large cottonwood trees we had removed. We paid him in two separate checks and should have held the last check until the work was complete. He gave me a story about how he was going to be out of town and could he please have the remainder of the payment. I should have known better. He gave us many excuses about why the work was delayed and when he would come back, but never did. He eventually quit taking our calls. His tree trimmers were actually very professional and did a good job, but they showed up at my house several days later asking me to cancel the check and pay him directly, because he hadn’t paid them. I am sure I am not the only one who got swindled. Stay away from Charles Sayles with this company.

My remodeling company uses Charles and his crew from Affordable Tree Service on all of our jobs and we have always been satisfied and have had no issues. He did several jobs for us last month with no issues.

I hired Affordable Tree Services in the early part of December due to down branches from the ice storm. Charles, the owner, charged me to clear my drive and to come back and finish trimming one of the trees that was hanging over the house. The crew did an ‘ok’ job of cutting up the branches and setting them by the curb. I expected Charles to call me to schedule the rest of the work for which I had paid. When I hadn’t heard from him in a week I called the number on his card. He said that he was out of town over the holidays and would get back to me after Christmas. This went on back and forth for over a month. Finally, I told Charles that I’d like a refund for the work that was not completed. He refused and said that I should be happy with the work that they had already done. Beware of this huckster. He’ll probably be prowling the streets again with the next big storm.
