Why hello old friend. So we meet again. I always end up at the Aces Lobby Bar when I am staying at the DFW Airport Hyatt Regency because it’s then only bar at the hotel. And where else would I be if I wasn’t at the bar? I have been here about 4 times now and they remain consistent which is good. The bar itself is a good size and they also have plenty of tables in the bar area to sit at because it can get super crowded if there’s a conference in town. Everything is kept nice and clean and there is a pool table in the back next to the restrooms. For this most recent visit a few coworkers and I decided to sit at one of the tables by the bar since the bar itself was full. Service was good and our server was nice and attentive so that we weren’t left wanting. There are a few Vegetarian options on their limited menu. One is a Veggie Burger and the other is a Meatless Quesadilla. I opted for the Meatless Quesadilla which arrived promptly. It was ok. The tortilla and salsa were good, but otherwise the veggies and cheese inside were kinda bland with no seasoning or anything that made it stand out. It was also on the smaller size so I was hungry an hour later. This coming from the girl who always leaves a restaurant with leftovers. So you know it was small. One of my coworkers had their Buffalo Wings and he was hungry later in the night as well. Prices are a little on the high side but I guess it’s to be expected at an airport hotel. My quesadilla was about $ 15 and I had a(or five) Blue Moons at $ 7 each. I will continue to come back to the Aces Lobby Bar when at the DFW Airport Hyatt Regency Hotel for lack of other options. The beer and drinks are good, but food is lacking.

I recently hung out in ACES Lobby Bar while we stayed at the hotel for a convention over a long weekend. The main issue here is service. We sat at one of the open tables(open seating) and waited for a server. I saw at least four servers walking around, none of whom attempted to help us. I tried to look really interested in the menu, then really interested in ordering. Nope. So I finally flagged a server down who was going to(again) walk past our table. I asked if we could order. She said«I’ll get her.» I took this to mean that for some reason, tables were assigned, and only a specific server could take our order. At this point, we’d been sitting for 15 minutes, trying to be patient. The bar had business, but it was not overly busy. Might have been prudent for the server we spoke with to take our order and pass it along, but none of them looked like employees who wanted to go the extra mile. Five minutes later we had no server, and I noticed a new person at the bar area, who clearly worked there but was wearing a business jacket. I figured she was some sort of manager and got up to inform her of our situation. She did not act surprised or apologetic, and simply said she’d get someone over to us. A minute or two later, one of the servers came and asked to take our order. No apology for the delay. You’d think if the tables were assigned she would have noticed new people sitting at her table for the last 20 minutes while she helped other customers. We placed our order for another beer(we’d obtained drinks at the bar the first time around) and beef fajita nachos. She then informed us that we would not get the same rate for beer as we had at the bar counter(which was a special rate negotiated by the convention). Fine, I did not feel like arguing. The nachos came out surprisingly fast, about 5 minutes later. I understand sour cream, guacamole, pico and queso don’t have to be cooked, but apparently the beef fajitas are already prepared as well. That being said, the nachos were delicious. The beef was in small chunks and did not taste like fajitas to me, and I just ate around it. Our server then told us she had talked to her manager and they would give us the deal on the beer we were expecting. Thanks so much for charging us what you were supposed to! I ate in the bar area for lunch a couple days later, during the same hotel stay. We sat at another table and proceeded to play the same waiting game for a server. I saw two other groups sit down after us and be helped by servers before us, including one table by the server that eventually made her way over to us. She had been cashing out all of her tickets at the register and found that to be more important that assisting people during the lunchtime hour, apparently. I again ordered the nachos, because they were so good. My friend ordered the pepperoni flatbread pizza, which she enjoyed. Our drink refills came at a satisfactory rate, but service again was lacking. If the bar insists on assigning certain tables to certain servers, they need to come up with a better system for the servers to be alerted to a new table, because it is not currently working well at all. As a side note, they were«out» of the spicy bar trail mix during our stay. You would think during a convention where the attendees are known to frequent the bar quite often, they would make sure to have the snacks they are known to have in stock. Having a little mix to snack on while drinking usually keeps people around longer. This makes me think they were purposefully out during the time we were there. Please restock the bar trail mix appropriately, it’s awesome and people have come to expect it!
