JANKY karaōke spot, they don’t have private rooms but it’s 2 stories with table booths and because we came on a sunday night when no one else was there, we got the entire 2nd floor to ourselves! the place is pretty run down and old but they had all the songs we wanted to sing so i guess we can’t really complain, plus there was a dance floor that doubled as a stage upstairs i guess if we came when this place was busy we’d be singing with strangers too, which is always fun too NOTE: other Unilocalers seem to talk about their food but we came for karaōke only

dropped by this local spot for over a year now. great place to have a chill hangout with yogurt soju and korean foods. Staff are very friendly! If you don’t mind the occasional noraebang going on, this is a great spot to wind down.

The place has a comfy layout with cushy chairs surrounding circular tables, and it gives a very homely feeling. You also get a lot of food for the price. The workers are nice as well. However the place is pretty deserted and the average age there seems to be 30+. Other than that, it’s a pretty chill place.

The ahjussi who owns the place is so sweet and nice. Always greeting me with a smile on his face :) The waitresses don’t speak much english but you point on the menu what you want and they’ll get it. This is my favorite spot. Super close to home and cheap! The combo meals are actually pretty worth it. Especially the alcohol + chicken + egg + soup combo. :) I’ve brought a lot of different people here to chill and unwind with me. Love it :)

This place is AWESOME! The servers are friendly and prompt. Food comes out pretty quick. Prices are cheaper than any places i’ve been to around the area. THEIRCOMBOSPECIAL is the BEST. their business hours are reasonable and is open everytime i go. Their korean pancakes are to die for and other food tastes reaalllyyy good. I personally recommend the chicken and soondae bok eum. This place is always sort of empty whenever i go. this restaurant may be ghetto looking from outside, but inside its pretty decent and clean. Try this place!

decent korean bar/lounge. cheapest soju bottle is $ 4.99 !! pretty darn good price, but i do hear that royal isnt doing too well. service is great. food is whatevs. crowd was more adult than kids in their 20s. in terms of the interior, it definitely offers a different vibe than what im used to in terms of seating arrangement and interior decorations for sojubangs; its not really booths/wall partitions and i feel like they were trying to go for a lounge vibe –which, now that i check, is exactly what its listed as.

They are doing a promotion, well a few. If you buy one side dish for $ 9.99, you get one free, it is only limited to few side dishes but still very good! I always get the kimchi pancake, soo good! And a new promo they’re doing is, if a group of girls come, everything is half off… food and drinks… sooo come kick it with your girlfriends!!!

I like the prices, but needless to say, this is definitely a place where older people meet and drink. The lesser known soju is $ 5.99, and the beer/pitcher are above $ 10. Reasonable prices, REALLYGOOD popcorn, but the atmosphere kinda kills it. This place makes me feel like im surrounded by my aunts and uncles, and it makes it somewhat uncomfortable. Well, this place is better on service than most other korean bars around cerritos, so I’ll give it 3 stars rather than a 2.

Stumbled in one night late after playing The Bar a few doors down. Cypress is a weird shade of shady first of all. Anyways this Korean joint turned out to be pretty Kool Mo Dee. They were wrapping up for the night, but we heard karaōke upstairs & gave it a shot. My girlfriend ordered soju and some awesome, spicy dish with rice cakes. She said it was spicy Korean junk food, and all I know is I really like the way Koreans junk. They had a deal that night, where you order one entrée, get one for free! So we got half a baked chicken with dipping salt & hot sauce. A great, glutinous way to end the night!

Bomb food and bomb service. I came there strapped because I didn’t know what to expect but it’s real mellow. You don’t have to worry about getting blasted anymore. New owner, new vibe.

I love this place! They have the best dducc boh kee for sure! And the best service. My friend and I came here for one large bottle of hite beer, dduc boh kee(spicy rice cake) and odeng(fish cake soup) and it all came out to be $ 22 in total. Good deal. They also play an exceptionally good range of house, top 40 and indie music(surprisingly).

Okay, some back story: Back in the day, when I was 16 years old and thought I was as cool as the back side of a pillow, I would hang out with my older cousin. He was an O.G. in his mid 20s and he would always take out the younger cousins to go drink and hang out with his homies, even though most of us were under age. One of the places was Royal. Well, before it was Royal and before it was Jungle. I forgot what it was called, but my cousin knew the owners and everything so we would go out there and eat, drink, and chill till the coming of morning. Fast forward to present day. After changing owners, gun shots, brawls, deaths, and vacancy, Royal exists. It’s a strange juxtaposition of history and location if you think about it. It’s located in Cypress, a city where the cops come in twos(sometimes threes) just to give speeding tickets. Compare that to the rough past of Royal and you get an interesting ego. Nowadays, the place is doing well. The deco hasn’t changed much since when I was a teen(even though it’s changed owners), with large open spaces and large tables allowing accommodation for drinkers to come in, laugh, drink, and eat. Upstairs also contains another level, but the space is mostly reserved for large parties(I mean closer to 30 than 10 people) and special events. The place is dimly lit and whether it’s the radio or live, music fills the atmosphere. It’s a great ambiance to have when you’re drinking with your friends and future ex-lovers. The beers are cheap, and refreshing. Although they have several American beers on tap(Bud, Coors), skip that piss water and get the large bottles of Korean beer. The Korean beer is a little bit more pricey but well worth the upgrade. Drinking it is like a mountain pissing pure spring water on your face. Absolutely divine. Compared to American bars, the food at Royal is at another level. All the food is meant to be shared and offers vast degrees of variation. You’ve got spicy ddok bo ki(spicy rice & fish cakes), creamy corn cheese, fire roasted squid, and bitchin’ kimchi fried rice. If the beer doesn’t keep you warm on those cold nights, the food sure will. Overall, the place is great. Sometimes it’s a dead crowd, other times it’s packed. There’s plenty of parking out front and lately, all the people have been laid back. It’s clean, the service is good, and the drinks are plenty. So if you decide you want to get away from the annoyances and hassles of clubs and bars, go to Royal. You can drink with some friends in a much more casual, hassle free environment. And don’t worry, it’s not as «gangsta» as it use to be.

Have you ever heard of the saying, «You can’t spell bar food, without barf?» You probably haven’t… because I just made that up(chuckle, chuckle. Excuse my lameness). But seriously, usually it’s true. And since I’m not much of a drinker, you usually won’t find me at lounges like these. But after unenthusiastically agreeing to stop at this place to eat, I must say– even without the alalalcohol, I’d come here again, just to munch. Whole-Chicken, Spicy Honey Wings, Cabbage Salad, White Cubes of Pickled Radish(aka«Moooo»), Ddukbokki = yums to the tums. Tis true, draws an interesting crowd– but if your focus is food and drink, I beckon– venture in.

This place used to be Fifth Wave, and then Jungle from what I can remember. An acquaintance of mine was unfortunately killed in a gang related shooting here many years ago.(RIP Venus) Do not fret though, the only danger you will encounter while coming to Royal Square is overworking your liver. Royal had their grand opening last year, and had some awesome specials to celebrate the occasion. They serve beer and soju only, no hard liquor license. The specials were: 1) Buy one 9.99 food entrée, get a second one for free. 2) Whole chargrilled chicken and pitcher of beer for 11.99? 3) All alcohol half price off(SCORE!) I think that the first two specials are still good for happy hour(s), which are 6 – 8 pm. Many times before my friends and I were the only people here. Last year, when I was a full out heathen, this place would often serve as a refueling station for us before we would head out into the night for shenanigans. The chargrilled chicken(in Korean called: soot bul tong dak) here is awesome. Crispy skin, juicy meat, and a slightly sweet marinade compliment the smoky flavor which is natural to chargrill.(Is char grill even a word?) The chicken comes with salad, jalapenos, and the white radish cubes, along with salt/pepper and hot chili sauce. Considering this is one of the 9.99 dishes, you can actually get two for 9.99 which is a killer deal! I’ve tried many other things here, from the egg in stone bowl(good but watery), kimchi pancake(the size of a spare tire and excellent), octopus stir fry(great consistency, won’t strain your jaw muscles as is the case with some joints), and many other dishes. You pretty much cannot go wrong with any of the dishes here. Right after you sit down, the waitresses(which seem to have a higher turnaround rate than Tiger’s mistresses) bring out popcorn and these awesome cinnamon deep fried chips, along with a bowl of what seemed to taste and appear like Tostito’s salsa con queso. Standard alcohol including my favorite Korean beer, Hite, and Chamee Sul Fresh for Soju. They have several other beers and Korean semi-hard liquor like baek sae ju as well. They have the little buzzers at each table to call the waitress, so service is never a problem and has always been fast and courteous. They have a projector screen on one wall and a flat screen above the bar area, and often time show sports but unfortunately the sound is not wired up for the TVs. Very comfortable lounge style chairs and standard chairs at various locations. Noraebang upstairs for after you get wasted and want to belt out some Nsync tunes. Great place to come chill and drink at with friends.

A korean café lounge that serves soju beer and wine. They will soon have a full alcohol permit so don’t dispair ya lushes. Originaly know as Fith Wave and Later Jungle the bar is now on its 3rd owner all of them Korean. The café has two levels and the décor is classy. Bottom floor has a bar and alot of tables with comfortable lounge chairs. A big screen tv is set agains the back wall. The upper level has Karaōke and an aditional bar and a few tables plus a comfy couch. Both levels have their own male and female restrooms. They also have a solid food selection of dishes and apetizers. In years long ago it was a mexican restaurant so it is a very big space. I came here weekly back in the day when it was fith wave. I was on strike at the supermarket across the street so id hop in here often. The owner was an ex cop and a cool host. He always had a nice assortment of cute korean bartenders although most didn’t actualy know how to mix drinks. But they were good at sitting in front of you and looking good. The bar used to be packed and gradualy got younger and louder. I prefered the more mixed crowd from when the place started catching on. Then they had an incident there and the place closed for a a while. It changed its name to Jungle and had jungle theme prints on the seats and décor. Bussiness gradualy picked up and now the place has its 3rd owner. For me its not the same as it used to be. Most of the Bussiness men and locals that used to frequent the place are not to be found. But things are slowly picking up and i see the potential for this to once again be a pretty chill hang out. As soon as they get that full liquor liscense…
